Avatar f tn I've always suffered from binge eating. 3 months ago I tried Meridia, and it was wonderful. I do not like to take medicines...therefore I stopped taking Meridia, but sometimes I take one for a few days when I believe I'm eating too much....but as soon as i stop taking it, I go back to the same old habits. Do you know of something similar that I can take w/o the same side effects...

1396756 tn?1283523477 Often binge eating is an emotional thing, we find confort in food. You hear people talk about their "comfort foods" these are things they eat when upset or sad. The Paxil IS helping you and this is why you no longer have to eat to feel better....good for you! One thing to help lose the weight is to eat every 3-4 hours, healthy snacks. Fresh fruit, handful of nuts, yogurt, chicken, vegetables, and exercise. Eating every few hours keeps your metabolism at it's peak.
Avatar f tn I'm a 55 Y/O female who has been binge eating for about 20 years. I've been to every kind of therapy, even went to a psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorders, gave me an RX ( don't remember the name) I've gained and lost 50LBS 3 times, this time I gained 60LBS and can't loose the last 25. I can't control my eating no matter what I do. I've also been to OA and I didn't like it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn Is anyone out there a binge eater that would like to get into contact to help recovery? I've had eating disorders for the past 10 years...anorexia, bulimia, recovered on my own for a bit, but now after starting a career and having more stress in my life, I'm not normal anymore. I binge. I went on topamax for a bit and this helped but didn't like the weird side effects and I know I can't rely on drugs my whole life. I'm 26 and just want to be normal with food.
Avatar f tn Great advice from Brice, but don't forget to occasionally indulge in some of your cravings too, otherwise you can risk setting yourself for that autopilot eating. For instance, if you've got a serious craving for chocolate, do not turn to a rice cakes as an alternative. Has that honestly ever worked for anyone??? For me personally, I'd eat the whole bag of rice cakes and still feel completely unsatisfied. The key (for me at least) is to let myself have a few pieces of dark chocolate.
8793709 tn?1409594060 That kinda happens to me with ice cream. A pint lasts me like 3-4 days. My husband's last about 2-3 weeks :/. What do I do? Finish it and try not to buy again. I haven't bought it in about 2 weeks and I don't like my husband's flavor so that helps.

For the last 15 yrs I have been on many many anti depressants, diets, diet pills etc. I have had pretty much binge free the last 2 years while I was on Effexor and Wellbutrin. I came into money problems and had to taper off them. I had totally forgot about my eating disoder....well....I think I thought I grew out of it finally. Since I have been off my pills in the last few months I hve started binge eating again.
Avatar f tn Is anyone familiar with binge eating disorder? I have been struggling with what I believe is binge eating disorder. It has gotten out of control and I am at a loss as to how to stop it. I have gained a horrible amount of weight and am miserable. I just want to regain control and able to cope in a healthy way...
Avatar f tn The best thing to do is not have junk food in the house, if you can't stop with eating a single portion. Replace the chips, cookies, etc with fresh cut up veggies, such as carrots, celery, radishes, broccoli, or cauliflower. You'll get the same crunch, but you'll get nutrition instead of the fat and empty calories. If you need the salt, sprinkle on just a tad of sea salt to add a bit of flavor.
4287262 tn?1358999012 I feel like the last week All i want to do is eat. I can never get enough food. My question is, When did you start Feeling like Binge eating, and did it cause you to gain alot of weight. I have only gained 2 lbs so far, and I am very skinny, so I could care less about gaining weight if its for my baby. Just want to make sure this is normal for right now, or if its because I am lacking certain nutrients. thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn I'm a 20-year old college student, and I have an out-of-control binge eating disorder. These last few months have been a rollercoaster. It's like a broken record... Monday through Friday, I'll be exercising vigorously and severely restricting calories because of binge-eating on the weekends. Come Friday, I'll have a slice of pizza or two, then it all goes downhill from there. WITHIN TWO HOURS, I will have 3 bowls of cereal, a bag of trail mix, two p.b.
877379 tn?1259664623 I feel like since my main problem is now binging, that I cant have an eating disorder because binge eating disorder is not ok for me to have. I feel like I would be a failure if I was diagnosed as that. I dont think she will stop eating junk food and food always seems to be around when we hang out. any ideas for any activity we could do that is "food free"? isnt there sugar in almost everything? I would love to be able to just eat a little and then stop.
483818 tn?1232684772 In a week I will starve myself for 4 days, binge for 2 and eat normal for maybe 1... It goes thru stages, I will eat normal then starve, then binge, then starve... Sometimes I will go without food for a couple of days, and other times i just eat and eat and eat... I do worry about my weight a lot, and when i do groceries, i look how much fat is in things, and buy low fat and fat free everything... I do still eat fast food, and fattening things, but that is only on the binge days...
Avatar f tn i dont know if it happens to you the same way, but usually same things trigger the binge eating....is a matter of at least recognizing what it is....and this might help you identify pattern....i am still working on it myself...had a food binge 2 days in a row and body keeps craving.....hard but manageble....
Avatar n tn I started anorexia recovery 6 days ago. I'm 15 years old, female, 5"3-5"4, sedentary, only exercise I get is going to school. Every since my first day of recovery, I have been binge eating really really bad. I binge on sweets, carbs, and some salty foods. I can't stop, it makes me so frustrated that I start crying and it really makes me want to relapse.
Avatar n tn What kind of physical consequences are there to binge eating. I had this for years, overeating really fast and way too much. In the recent past I got on a medication and stopped. But now I have bad acid reflux, what feels like a tear in my intestines and an ulcer in my stomach and a gallbladder that is going downhill. I never knew what it meant to be full because I would alot of times eat past that.
Avatar f tn I also recommend watching the binge eating disorder video on YouTube from the channel breelovesbeauty .... I suffered from bed and these things helped me a lot.
Avatar f tn I have 'recovered' from an eating disorder which I had back in 2012, however since my eating disorder I have weighed myself every day consistently for the past 5 years, and always at the same time. I have tried to stop weighing myself, however the longest I have gone without weighing myself is a week, and then I got super anxious about gaining heaps of weight. This constant weighing also causes me to binge and not listen to my body's hunger cues.
Avatar f tn The rest of the family had eaten lasagna and garlic bread for dinner and there was quite a bit of garlic bread left - so I ate nearly all of it! Then I was frustrated at myself for eating the garlic bread so I have some vanilla ice cream. What the heck was I thinking? I've been doing SOOO good and am so proud of myself and then I go and binge on **** when I wasn't even particularly hungry, just because I was mad at my daughter!
Avatar f tn I'm a 56 y/o female who has had a problem with binge eating since I was about 30. I can gain 20 lbs in a month no problem. Sometimes I can't stop eating, and when I'm too full to eat anymore, I can't wait to digest so I can eat more. I've been to psychiatrist's that specialize in eating disorders, OA, read every book I could find, went to counseling for years and years, and have been on every diet there is.
