I'm on Benicar HCT, have been for many years. Benicar is in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Benicar keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Benicar HCT has a diuretic included as well. I have been fortunate, Benicar has worked from the first day I took it and works well still today. My 90 day average BP is 108/67 down from 135/85 when I started. I have had no side effects as well, the best of both worlds!

A guy uses Benicar off-label for chronic fatigue or something in the so called Marshall Protocol. While its effectiveness remains dubious. He claims Benicar reduces the need for exogenous thyroid hormones in hypothyroid patients even getting to the point of hyperthyroidism. "Patients who are taking thyroid supplements should be aware that their need for those supplements may change within a day or two of starting olmesartan (Benicar).

I've recently been having terrible anxiety and one of the changes in my life is that I've started taking Benicar 40mg for high blood pressure. I saw on a post somewhere that benicar can cause this. Has anyone else heard of this?

as I didnt have this happen before.. not even when on toprol or diovan. but did have worse side effects from them ! have you ever had anyone with these problems or symptoms , that is on verapamil or maxzide ??

Yet others like me ,cant take hardly anything without going into space! or climbing the walls from it. - benicar is known to have some wild side effects , such as Gas -bloating belly- uncontrolled passing gas!, and vision problems such as eye lids being lazy or not working well. blurred vision is another as well - no energy or power ! it robbs you of normal energy or power you had , no get up and go.. it got up and went with the benicar and other meds for b.p.

I recently had open heart surgery, 4 bypasses. I was on Benicar 20mg. a day before the surgery along with Zocor to control cholesterol. I am now on Plavix, Toprol XL, Zocor and Benicar. My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP.

I'm on Toprol XL, Cardizem, Benicar along with Lasix for HTN. I have a BUN of 32 (up from 24 a month ago) with a creatinine of 1.2. Can it be medication related? I am not overweight nor do I overuse salt, but am concerned about kidney failture.

About a year ago I was put on high blood pressure medication, Benicar 20mg a day. I have never had any types of heart issue and in the last year have developed or started to notice regular PVC's. I have had them checked out and they are PVC's and they drive me nuts because they make me feel real uncomfortable. Could the PVC's be caused by the benicar?

Dear Doctor, I am a healthy 36 year old male. In the last year I was put on Benicar 20 mg for high blood pressure. In that year I have began to notice PVC's that started occassionally and now are happening everyday all day. They drive me crazy. My blood pressure is under control and I exercise regularly. Could the Benicar cause the PVC's? I have had them checked out with my doctor and they tell me that they are okay and that they are PVC's. They drive insane.

my dad had a triple bypass last apr 21. last saturday, jul 4/2009 he started on diovan 160/12.5 (from corvesy+) and since Sat he's been experiencing chest pains that is not going away. is this a side effect? is he allergic to the this new med he's taking or is this angina? should he get himself to an ER?

I have being training for several running races for 5 months. Before going into a preparation for a half marathon training, I went to the cardiologist to do a check up, as I know my BP always was borderline to be considered high. I did Echo, Stress tests and 24h BP measurements. Echo and stress went all right, but BP was slightly high, my mean systolic pressure was 133 and mean diastolic was 83, with the maximum during the test being 148 an 100.

Just curious, I was started on Benicar HCT 40/12.5 about 3 or 4 years ago at a time when I was at my peak weight, well over 300 pounds, not taking very good care of myself and not exercising. My blood pressure was running around 140/85 at the time. I underwent some cardiac work ups due to some chest pain over that time period including a couple of Nuclear Stress Tests and Echos along with all the blood work that is usually done, all tests were always normal.

The chest pain has returned and the diastolic pressure is 53.I am currently on benicar hct 40/25 and my bp has been 126/53. Should I stop taking the benicar? Not sure what to make of the chest pain.I am a 48 yr. old female other wise in good health.

I was still feeling dizzy and I wanted to stop the Diovan or the Metoprolol Succinate. My cardiologist said I should continue the Metoprolol succ and I can stop the Diovan. I was OK for a week or so, then suddenly, I felt the same pressure in my head again and I woke up at night. My BP was 150/100 and I got scared again. In the ER, they kept me overnight and I was admitted. The doctor put me on Metoprolol Succinate (25 mg) twice a day and observed me for 4 days.

I am going in for gallbladder removal in 4 days and no one has told me to stop taking Benicar HCT beforehand. I'm on a 20/12.5 dose once daily, so it's pretty low, but won't it possibly cause problems with the anaesthesia/barbituates or if they have to give me morphine afterwards (not likely, but possible)?

My dr put me on Benicar 20mg and Toprol XL 25mg to lower my blood pressure. I have a fast pulse too (always over 100). Will these meds lower my pulse also?

My question is could this be the result of the CVID? My PP reduced my Diovan HCL 160 to Diovan 80 to see if that was the problem. Should I be concerned?

I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.

I experience variuos fluctuations even using Benicar. My blood pressure had some for some reason risen to 170/101 two months ago and my primary doctor prescribed Benicar. Well, it reduce my blood pressure to the normal range, but it fluctuates to as low as 86/54 and up to 136/86. Along with this I have lightheadeness, dizziness, some breathing problems, some numbness in my hands and unsteady walking. What I would like to find out if this relates to heart trouble.

I believe I used this function years ago and got a list of doctors. My doctor who I have now uses Benicar, however does not follow all aspects of the protocol. She says the Benicar helps the antibiotics work better which I guess is the theory behind the Marshall Protocol. You can also try to google "marshall protocol doctors" and see what comes up.

ve been using anti-hypertensives for ten years now starting with Lotensen and then switching to Diovan HCT then to hydroclorothyazide for a year or two then back to Diovan HCT. I am about 20 kgs overweight. I walk every day and when in a good routine 8 kms a day, up and down hills through fields etc.

Although I am not cynical when it comes to the medical profession, I know there are drugs of preference from doctor to doctor. I was on Benicar HCT for 4 years before moving and finding a new doctor. One of the first things he did was pull me off Benicar and put me on Lisinopril, a beta blocker. I had a terrible reaction to this drug, I couldn't workout and my heart rate stayed at 50 - 55 BPM.
