Common Questions and Answers about Bactroban ear infection

bactroban

Avatar n tn A few days later it came back. I took the oral and the bactroban did nothing. It spread to my ear, genitals, and my nose. I got another prescrption for the oral. It cleared up. Came back a few days later spreading like wildfire. Took another culture and got really heavy doses of oral. It cleared up for 1 month. It just came back, it's slow going but I can feel it spreading. My Derm doesn't know what to do, and obviously this antibotic isn't working.
Avatar f tn My family has a history of being allergic to sulfa products, so I was wondering if the numbness and tingling and burning sensation could be an allergic reaction to the bactroban, or maybe I am getting some sort of infection. All of these symptoms have become quite uncomfortable in the past few days. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn My 3 year old son has had a small cut under his earlobe where it connects with his face. I recently took him into the Dr and they prescribed Bactroban and said to put Eucerin lotion on it inbetween Bactroban treatments for 10 days. It does not seem to be healing up. I am not sure if it is because he bothers it and is keeping it from healing. Is there anything else I can be doing to help this cut heal and close?

All of these symptoms have become increasingly uncomfortable in the past few days. And my pulse has steadily been around 120. Any ideas?

Avatar m tn ENT said I had some colonies in nose soUsed Bacrtoban for 3 days and slight pain in my nose went away per ENT. I stopped the bactroban after 3 days because I was not sleeping but I was also using Nasocort and maybe that was the culprit. Cold gone sinus not infected but having some pain that feels like a tooth ache and slight tickle or sting in nostrils when breathing. Left septum is a little enlarged.
Avatar f tn s very small dot and itching, they come back at the same spot, one near my ear, one at my neck, few on side of my body, can you please advise what cause this, and what are they?
Avatar f tn I have never seen this actual drug so I have no experience with it. Ear drops usually burn quite a bit when put in the eye due to the different pH so I have seen severe irritation due to ear dorps in the past. I don't know enough about this drop.
Avatar n tn my neighbor had that same thing happen to him and it ended up being shingles, so u might need to get it looked at .
Avatar f tn I remember placing Bactroban on it which seemed to speed up the healing process, could this cold sore cream help a bacterial infection or could bactroban help a cold sore? Please help P.s the blisters come up small and then pop and crust over yellow like a weeping cut, it has only had one big blister before. I placed betadine on it and that seemed to help but so did bactroban, it also tingles before it comes up and gets itchy but NEVER hurts!
Avatar n tn Aside from the ear and head pain, what other symptoms are present? Ear pain or otalgia may be caused by conditions within the ear or outside the ear such as sinus disease, inflamed tonsils, infections in the nose and pharynx, and even neurological issues. If it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor or be referred to an ENT for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Folliculitis is infection and inflammation of the hair follicles. The condition may be superficial (i.e., on the surface of the skin) or deep within the follicles. The most common cause of folliculitis is infection by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. Folliculitis symptoms can appear independent of infection. Exposure of the skin to certain chemicals, especially oils and tars, can trigger an outbreak.
Avatar f tn The red bumps are looking like they might be getting infected. I have a tube of 2% Bactroban (or Mupirocin is what it actually says) can I use this on that area to prevent further infection? How can I avoid this when shaving in the future?
Avatar m tn 6/15/2009 - Spots on his head started oozing again, again diagnosed as a staph infection, also an ear infection, treated with oral anti-biotics (amoxicillin/clavulanate) plus topical anti-biotic (bactroban), plus hydrocortisone 2.5%. Cleared up the infection, but the head spots remained. 7/31/2009 - Spots leaking again, treated with oral anti-biotics (cephalexin). Cleared up the infection, but the head spots remained.
Avatar n tn Welcome to the forum. Replying to the question as posed in the title: Saliva rarely transmits STDs, if ever; and liking intact skin -- whether of the scrotum or anywhere else -- is not a risk for any STD. Now I have read the question itself. Your own evaluation is correct: "From everything you've said in the past on other posts, I believe that I have next to no risk for an STI". (Except I would delte "next to". There was no risk, period.
Avatar f tn Did your doctor say what it is, bump or pimple? How do you feel the bump? Is it in the area between the outside skin on your nose and the air channel, or is it against an inside wall of you nose? Your bumps may be the same as my ear lobe experience. I often have a bump in my ear lobe and while it doesn't bother me much I find myself squeezing the ear lobe with my fingers to feel the bump.
Avatar f tn I saw another doctor, who said I had folliculitis, and he prescribe Bactroban(Mupirocin) for me. He also hints me the folliculitis cannot be cured completely. I have to put Bactroban on the infected part to relieve the symptom, when I found acnes symptom become more severe. Then, I put Bactroban on my face. At the first 2 days, nothing happen. I therefore put more Bactroban on.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed bactroban. The physician I saw said it was a mild skin infection. I used the ointment and on Tuesday, May 5, I woke up with a killer headache and a sore tongue. I continued to use the bactroban until Wednesday, May 6. My tongue was white so, I went back to urgent care. The physician said that I was probably having an allergic reaction to the bactroban and prescribed me an oral antibiotic. I used the new medicine with no issues.
Avatar n tn I used it for 3-4 days and the irritation aggravated and i could see inflamation in new areas on the penis head. Then I went to my GP and he changed the cream to Bactroban. I used it for 3 days and over these 3 days, my skin became red and there was irritation all over the Penis head. The GP asked me to stop both the medicines and he is of opinion that, I may have a reaction of bactroban and has developed into a fungal infection.
Avatar n tn I told him one or two of your readers recommended Bactroban mupirocin, but he dismissed that advice for the Lotrimin. I need to hear from more readers who have had success with Bactroban so I can convince him to prescribe if for me. Otherwise?? Help! Help!
Avatar f tn A preauricular sinus may be infected repeatedly. In that situation it has to be excised once the acute infection has been adequately controlled. I don't agree about high failure rates if the job is done properly. Thanks.
Avatar m tn My doctor advised me that, though I still had redness where my lesions had appeared, HSV2 infection was unlikely since my partners all tested negative and my infection cleared with the Bactroban but the Valtrex had no measurable affect on my healing. After about 6-8 weeks, the redness had finally dissipated. A month passed, and I noticed another red lesion in the same area, approx 3cm across. I watched it very closely, and again, had no itching, burning or pain or any sign of blistering.
Avatar f tn If the condition still persists or there is deep cracking in the region of your mouth, then pls consult your doctor as it can be due to infection(Angular Cheilitis).Antibiotics are needed in such cases. For rash around the lips, a mild soap or soap substitute, such as Dove or Cetaphil should be used for washing. Scrubbing should be avoided. Also apply topical antibiotic creams and if the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed. I hope that helps.
Avatar m tn I presented with only one sore at my cheekbone and was given clindamycin orally for 14 days and Bactroban ointment for topical use. The sore was believed to be an early indication of MRSA. I quickly developed cellulitis and swelling near, but not touching, the apparent abscess, as well as blisters in my nose. I used the mupiricin.(Bactroban) to keep the nasal blisters moist. Now diagnosed with post-herpetic neuralgia, but I still have blisters in my nose treating with Bactroban.
