zithromax

1067297 tn?1255030564 Flagyl and biaxin worked well for my.. doxy, not so much. Plaquenil & Z-Pak is a newer protocol docs are using (well at least up here in canada, everyone knows how ignorant the canadian health care system is towrd lyme).. good luck!
Avatar f tn azithromycin) and Flagyl (gen: metronidazole). As I recall, the switch in meds was because I was having a bad reaction to treatment, but it may have been that the doc didn't realize my problem was the probiotic I was taking and not the antibiotics. I don't know. So .. there are several approaches -- the playbook on Lyme is still being written, so there is no 'one size fits all' approach to be had.
Avatar f tn After almost 2 years of testing my doctor randomly through Lyme into my tests and it came back positive. After that I had two more tests and they were both positive as well. I went through the rounds of doxycycline and Azithromycin. Only to be hospitalized due to infectious disease doctor. In which I had to write a manual of details on how I was doing the effects and what was going on for him to even take me as a patient. Arizona is known not to have any MDs that deal with Lyme.
Avatar m tn This physician strongly believes I have Lyme, Bartonella, and Babesia. To more aggressively tackle the Lyme and Bartonella, I was prescribed 500mg azithromycin daily to go along with my current regimen. I began taking it 3 days ago, and it appears as though I am experiencing a number of adverse side effects of the medication. If someone here who has used azithromycin to battle Lyme and Bart could help comfort me in my decision to continue with the azithromycin therapy that would be great.
Avatar f tn (Datum: 19.September 2011) Knauer J, Krupka I, Fueldner C, Lehmann J, Straubinger RK. "Evaluation of the preventive capacities of a topically applied azithromycin formulation against Lyme borreliosis in a murine model." J Antimicrob Chemother. 2011 Sep 15. Our data indicate that topical treatment with a formulation containing azithromycin is a promising approach to prevent Lyme borreliosis shortly after a tick bite.
Avatar m tn Do you know of anything OTC or otherwise that will help with the anxiety prior to this Friday and seeing the LLMD. I thought the Azithromycin was helping and while it may be, the anxiety is really heightened today. I will definetly hang in there and get through this.
1464587 tn?1307491605 Steroid use will also make it more difficult to test for Lyme, as Lyme tests look for antibodies produced to fight Lyme and not for Lyme bacteria directly. So since steroids weaken the immune system, you make less antibodies and therefore might slip through Lyme diagnostic cracks.
Avatar f tn Once I was treated for babs and it was cleared out, I was switched to azithromycin and Flagyl (metronidazole) for Lyme. Flagyl is the cyst-buster. There are others too, I think, but Flagyl worked well for me. So I'd say you could indeed have babesia and that the good effect of Mg on you doesn't rule out having babs .... but we're at the limits of my understanding of all this. What does your doc say?
798555 tn?1292787551 My symptoms have gotten significantly worse since starting doxy and I was retested for Lyme a week and 1/2 ago by my super-doubtful Hopkins intern. He said the lyme test came back negative, which I've heard before, so until I actually see the test results I'm taking what he says with 'a dose of doxy'. Anyway, I still have yet to be diagnosed by an LLMD, so In all honesty I'm shooting in the dark against whatever is wrong with me.
Avatar f tn -- Biaxin (clartihromycin) and Omnicef (cefdinir) for Lyme. However, I have seen references in various places online to Flagyl being used against babesia. If you search "babesiosis flagyl" you'll find what I did. Take care!
Avatar f tn Below is copied from Dr Burrascano's treatment guidelines for Lyme (posted on the ILADS website), including an entry on doxycycline [aka doxy] dosage: "Adults: 200 mg bid [meaning twice a day] with food; doses of up to 600 mg daily are often needed, as doxycycline is only effective at high blood levels." So perhaps your doc's doses are on the light side -- I'd ask him, but sometimes docs get huffy. I'd ask him anyway. It's your health we're talking about.
Avatar f tn -- azithromycin (Zithromax) and atovaquone (Mepron) for 4 months -- clindamycin (Biaxin) and cefdinir (Omnicef) for 5 months -- stopped due to edema -- metronidazole (Flagyl) and azithromycin (Zithromax) for 4 months + 1 week -- stopped (dr's orders) due to severe intestinal inflammation from Flagyl Now 3 days after stopping the meds, I can feel the disease symptoms creeping slowly back, and want to figure out (before seeing my dr again) what tricks there are to tolerate these meds aga
Avatar m tn clarithromycin/Biaxin and cefdinir/Omnicef -- 5 months -- drug holiday due to side effects of probiotics--2 months -- for Lyme: Zithromax/azithromycin and Flagyl/metronidazole -- 4 months ------------------------------------------------- This may have been an abbreviated treatment schedule, because I had continuing problems from the probiotics, so my schedule is odd in at least that way.
Avatar m tn I'd say ... don't stress, and I wouldn't take the doxy. It could cloud the diagnostic picture for the doc, maybe, perhaps. Dunno. But freelancing with meds and stuff just confuses the situation for the doc. Doxy by itself is not particularly effective in an established case of Lyme anyway, from what I read. And if it was making you itch, just don't go there. Go see the doc. If you DO take anything (whether prescription or herbs or vitamins etc.
Avatar f tn Hi All, I am 38 weeks pregnant and have been treated my entire pregnancy with azithromycin for Lyme disease. My lyme literate doctor only keeps his patients on 1 antibiotic through pregnancy. I was treated with bactrim for 3 months prior to becoming pregnant and I don't know when I contracted lymes. My issue is whether or not to breastfeed. My LL Dr. says NO. I have been in touch with infant risk and they rate lymes on a scale of 4 out of 5, with 5 being not recommended to breast feed.
Avatar f tn to do the billing and hassle with the insurance companies about how to treat and how long to treat Lyme disease. The insurance companies may rely on 'old think' and say that a short course of doxycycline is all you get, when actually it may not be the right medication for the right length of time. HOWEVER -- my Lyme doc would give me a bill and I would pay it, then I would submit a claim to my insurance company.
1464587 tn?1307491605 I also have intense pressure in my head..... intercranial pressure I guess its considered? and dizziness and intense muscle pain and tightness...... so bad in fact the pain is soooooo intense from the muscles being contracted that I cant even breath or move, even with muscle relaxers and muscle rub....... I was feeling much better on the generic Biaxin but yet again dont know if it was doing any good and maybe just letting the pathogen roam free???
Avatar f tn I had Lyme and Babesia at the same time and was very ill. I was treated for the Babesia first, with atovaquone and azithromycin for several (~4?) months. I don't recall neck pain specifically, but everyone is different in how symptoms show. When do you see your doc again? If it's going to be a while, I could call and ask to see him/her sooner just to be on the safe side.
4451049 tn?1387153437 Thanks cave! Yea I know it does seem like that question is specifically asked a lot, but I can't say I have much of a medical history to compare. So I don't really know. I can definitely understand why that would be so important for a dental office to know though. My BP was checked in the office and it was prehypertension then, so IDK if that should have been a red flag or not. No, I can't say for certain that I have had other herxes.
Avatar n tn You have lyme. The 'feeling your heart beat' symptom is one of the first to show up and I found I had it at night the most. It would start up out of nowhere sometimes waking me up and would go on for days and then mysteriously stop. All test were normal, but I know what you mean, it is very unnerving being able to feel your heartbeat so keenly. I think its the bacteria invading the nerves near the heart so whatever normal sensations you have get amplified.
1322693 tn?1308153896 I take one that is a blend of Mg citrate, aspartate and orotate and it helps a lot. Apparently Mg deficiency is not uncommon, and Lyme makes it worse bec. Lyme bacteria use up Mg in its reproductive process. Anxiety can be a result of low Mg levels, as well as muscle twitching and cramps. I had one clueless doc sneer and tell me not to take Mg supplements because it could cause dangerous diarrhea, but I've never had that happen ...
Avatar m tn The Igenex one was strongly positive for Lyme and the Labcorp one was negative. I had experienced about 85% of related Lyme symptoms over the course of 3 years. I took 4 courses of 1 month of oral antibiotic treatments for Lyme. I am not feeling much better physically than before treatment. I was wondering if anyone has experience of CD57-NK testing prior to and after Lyme treatment?
709619 tn?1230161475 I was on Flagyl and azithromycin for over 4 months, and the results were great. I am hoping to go back on it soon. I felt Stomach upset is the main drawback, but as said above, being careful to take it with 'cushioning' food takes care of that. I would use yogurt or bread, and would eat not with or after the meds, but before and with the meds -- 15 minutes or so beforehand just to give the ole stomach a warning. I took florastor (which is a well-known brand of S.
Avatar f tn hi I stared amoxi 1000mg and azithromycin 500mg daily... 3 days ago. When will i start to herx? Or will I not? I dont really feel any different or better. just a headache that will not go away..is the only difference, usually I get a break from my head pounding, but not for the last couple of days. The intercity changes thats it. I had meningitis 6 years ago and this head pounding im having is close to it...but not enough to go to hospital.
1138687 tn?1548643978 A different doctor changed my prescription from Doxy to Clarithromycin, as I work outside but told her I am managing the sun well as I cover up thoroughly. Well I am not even working that much during meds as they drag me down so i can certainly get away with Doxy.
Avatar m tn s son had the same rash and his doctor prescribed him amoxicillin 3x/day and said it had to be AT LEAST 14 days for lyme treatment. I looked online and that is what I found also. I am concerned my son was not on antibiotics long enough and that symptoms will show up later when it is harder to treat. Should I call the doctor back and try to get him on another 14 days of treatment or would that be too late at this point? Please any advice would be appreciated.
