Azithromycin and clindamycin

Common Questions and Answers about Azithromycin and clindamycin

Avatar n tn has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects. HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
Avatar m tn I was given Cleocin and Tobramycin concomitantly for cellulitis. I developed a rash and they said I was allergic to one of them. What is the danger of taking Cleocin again.. other than perhaps developing the rash? I am allergic to all cillins and it is difficult to find an antibiotic to treat problems.
Avatar f tn I was put on clindamycin due to a sinus issue, I was put on Amoxicillin for over a week and my ear became totally stopped up. I seen an ENT which put me on azithromycin for 8 days and prednisone. After no improvement over another week and explaining that my grandson was hospitalized with MRSA made him think it was possible that it could be my problem. I now have runny, bloodshot eyes too.
Avatar m tn I am concerned about possible drug interactions between the antibiotic azithromycin and the two heart medications warfarin and amiodarone. My relative has brief history of heart problems span one and a half years (though the underlying heart condition itself appears to be congenital). Rhythm problems resulted in CHF, hospitalization, and later diagnosis and heart surgery. Subsequent dysrhythmia and CHF has been prevented adequately with medication.
Avatar f tn The dentist put me on flagyl because I'm allergic to keflex clindamycin and penicillin. My gums surrounding he extraction site are still swollen and very sore. I think the abscess is still in there. The problem is the flagyl is givin me horrible panic attacks. Any idea as to what I should do?
Avatar n tn I told her that I've never had a tooth extraction while having abscessing going on, and she said it was fine. Tooth was pulled and was sent home with an Rx of clindamycin (150mg), 4xday. Infection got worse. Dentist, then used a lazer to open and drain the infected area. Several shots (7-8) of novacaine was needed to numb the area. After procedure, my mouth hurt and burned the worst that I've ever experienced before. The infection is still there.
Avatar f tn I should also mention that I went to the doctor last week because of a persistent and violent cough and sinus congestion. Even though he did not think it was bacterial, I have been taking antibiotics. The cough is all but completely gone, but the sinus congestion continues. Surprisingly, I feel fine. No major fatigue, no fever. I am just tired of the congestion and now this ugly, mysterious skin rash! I have looked at the measles stuff online, but the measles rashes are kind of blotchy.
Avatar f tn The similarity with penicillin is only important for people who are allergic to penicillin (as they will also be allergic to keflex). Personally, I would go with azithromycin (or clindamycin) if penicillin isn't working, but Cephalexin is different enough it might work. You can tell if its working if the pain/swelling go away in 4-5 days.
Avatar n tn Went to a doctor but never told this since I am going to work abroad in three days time,he had check up for urine(3-6pus,2-3rbc,others normal),blood(all normal),hematology(triglyceride and HDL high, others normal),hepa-b(I have anti, and said I am free from hepa-b for whole of my life).Doc gave clindamycin. Prior to my flight, I took azithromycin 500mg 1x and doxy for 4 days til' I arrive abroad. When I arrived,I had fever and body pain but no discharge.Frequent Urination only and chill.
Avatar n tn A tooth infection should be treated appropriately to prevent spread of infection. The usually preferred antibiotics are amoxicillin, clindamycin, penicillins and metrogyl.azithromycin may raise serum methadone levels and/or increase the effects of methadone. It is advisable to contact a local health care provider. Do write to us again. Best luck and regards!

Avatar f tn That is where most of the pain from this infection is coming from. It burns and sort of itches. The itching just started today and I've had this for 4 weeks. Most of the 4 weeks it wasn't diagnosed. I took Bactrim but that didn't work so I'm on cipro now. Is cipro a good antibiotic for this? Could this be impetigo? Any input is good, I'm desperate! I posted this in another group as well.
Avatar m tn Every time I have taken all of the antibiotics prescribed by a doctor (penicillin for 10 days in late June 2014, azithromycin for 5 days early July, and clindamycin for 7 days late July). The first case of strep this summer started right after I kissed my partner for the first time. A few days after my symptoms showed up he got a sore throat but he never got it checked since he did not feel sick other than the sore throat.
Avatar m tn Combination therapy with atovaquone (Mepron) and azithromycin is most commonly recommended for treatment of mild to moderate babesiosis. Treatment is usually continued for 7-10 days. A combination regimen of oral clindamycin and quinine has also been proven effective, but the rate of adverse reactions is significantly higher with this combination, so it is not recommended for treatment of uncomplicated disease.
Avatar m tn Hi I had #19 molar extracted and a bone graft over a week ago, I am still in pain, in the extraction area, my jawbone, my cheek, and when I talk too much it becomes sore or lean over, and have a kinda burning as well. Before the procedure I started a course of azithromycin. After reporting the pain 5 days after I went to see my DDS he put me on clindamycin, (I am on day 4 of a 7 day course), and said it looked like it was healing extremely well and didn't see a reason for the pain.
Avatar n tn Yesterday morning I finished a 10-day dose of clindamycin for a tooth infection and that seems to have done the trick. I had used Zithromax for 5 days a month ago for a sore throat but that didn't affect the dizziness. The allergist's interpretation for this is that either Zithromax was not the right type of antibiotic or the 5-day treatment was not enough. Depending on the result of the CT scan, I might have to continue taking antibiotics.
Avatar n tn For the last 6 months I have been getting tearing (look like paper cuts) in my vaginal area (1/4 to 1/2 inch long). I get the tears at least once or twice a week and they last from 2-4 days, go away for a few days and then come back. They continue to occur in the same locations; 1. Inside the vaginal lips on the sides almost always in the crease (between the labia minora and majora?) 2. between the anus and vaginal opening (perineum) 3. Above the clitoris in the "hood" area.
Avatar f tn I've been struggling a chronic infection for the last 5 months as result of a failed root canal (the infected root wasn't completely removed in the original procedure, and caused a MAJOR infection). Because it was not properly diagnosed, I now have a bit of bone infection under that tooth. Luckily, I've found the right oral surgeon (who showed me the problem on xray) and am having the tooth removed next week, and he is going to clean out the area underneath.
Avatar f tn I and my husband received IV continous infusion clindamycin treatment times 7 days and the followup testing showed we were both positive with clamydia. I still have pain in my right kidney that I usually have with chronic UTI. I am taking Cipro now for E. facelis but infection will not go away. It is too the point I don't want to have intercourse with my husband. Also did two months of oral macrobid and clarithomycin both I and my husband. Don't know what to do please advise.

Avatar f tn However, if you do need antibiotics after extraction, amoxicillin and metronidazole, erythromycin( erythromycin, azithromycin, clarithromycin) and metronidazole are commonly prescribed for periodontal infection. My doctor said she was going to order a more extended antibiogram. Now, I am really scared that it could be resistant to all antibiotics. Could urealpasma be resistant to ALL antibiotics? What do you do in that case?
