has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
Cephalexin (Keflex) is a good antibiotic as well. The similarity with penicillin is only important for people who are allergic to penicillin (as they will also be allergic to keflex). Personally, I would go with Azithromycin (or Clindamycin) if penicillin isn't working, but Cephalexin is different enough it might work. You can tell if its working if the pain/swelling go away in 4-5 days.
Over the course of the last month and a half I have been on 4 different antibiotics for different problems. Biccilin, azithromycin, amoxicillin, and clindamycin. About a week ago after I finished the clindamycin I had absolute crazy diarrhea, abdominal pain(mostly radiating from my right side) and loss of appetite. I was tested for cdiff. I and my husband received IV continous infusion Clindamycin treatment times 7 days and the followup testing showed we were both positive with clamydia. I still have pain in my right kidney that I usually have with chronic UTI. I am taking Cipro now for E. facelis but infection will not go away. It is too the point I don't want to have intercourse with my husband. Also did two months of oral macrobid and clarithomycin both I and my husband. Don't know what to do please advise.

ve never had a tooth extraction while having abscessing going on, and she said it was fine. Tooth was pulled and was sent home with an Rx of Clindamycin (150mg), 4xday. Infection got worse. Dentist, then used a lazer to open and drain the infected area. Several shots (7-8) of novacaine was needed to numb the area. After procedure, my mouth hurt and burned the worst that I've ever experienced before. The infection is still there.
However, if you do need antibiotics after extraction, amoxicillin and metronidazole, erythromycin( erythromycin, azithromycin, clarithromycin) and metronidazole are commonly prescribed for periodontal infection. You may address your condern to your dentist.

Fearing another onslaught of c diff, I had a stool sample checked with LabCorp and the results came back negative, but I was, and am, still having burning sensations in my abdominal area, lots of gas, and not knowing what to do. I went to the ER twice, and the results were the same both times: blood panels were great, white blood cell counts were at normal level, and two ct scans revealed nothing abnormal, not even inflammation.
I am concerned about possible drug interactions between the antibiotic azithromycin and the two heart medications warfarin and amiodarone. My relative has brief history of heart problems span one and a half years (though the underlying heart condition itself appears to be congenital). Rhythm problems resulted in CHF, hospitalization, and later diagnosis and heart surgery. Subsequent dysrhythmia and CHF has been prevented adequately with medication.
He said since i had the sore throat then these sores are from that and prescribed me ten days of clindamycin and then diflucan to take away the yeast infection the. Clindamycin has always given me. Whats your opinion on this?

In the mean time, if augmentin and clindamycin are not effective, I would try erythromycin family drug, such as azithromycin or clarithromycin , paired with metronidazole(flagyl). If itis possible, antibiotic sensitivity test can be done in the lab to determine which antibiotic is most effective for the cultured bacteria. Hope this helps.

Since exposure ive had a root canal done. And I have been on 4 different antibiotics. Biccilin, azithromycin. (Given to me by clinic to combat other stds) amoxicillin and clindamycin. (For root canal) my questions are:
1) can all of these antibiotics ive been on delay/impact tests taken?
2) are my tests up to this point a good indication of a - status?
3) can my root canal have delayed p24 from showing up on tests?
Two weeks after I had sexual contact I began having itchiness on my vulva. The doctor suspected bacterial infection and gave me antibiotics "doxycycline" twice a day for one week and clindamycin once a day for a week.
t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
1) For a first-time treatment, does this course of antibiotics make sense? (is it the best antibiotic? Is it the best strength and length of dose?)
2) Are there any additional tests I should do before commencing the course of antibiotics? For example, the culture showed up in the semen analysis, is it possible that the semen was just contaminated by the white growth on the penis on the way out? If so, should I get a further culture done just by wiping the tip of the penis?
Alternatively, you can take clindamycin for the bv and drink a boat load of cranberry juice for the UTI and water of course. It will take longer to clear up the UTI but it should work. It did for me in a pinch. It just took a couple of extra days. Of course if you are diabetic you can't.
