Avelox and leg pain

Common Questions and Answers about Avelox and leg pain

avelox

Took Cipro and the sinus pain was not improved so that was follwed by a course of Avelox where I ended up in the ER by day 7 on it [couldn't walk on my own needed IV fluids]. Off it for a week now and still really tired, various nerve pain, joint pain, muscle fatigue...seems to cycle, weak and dizzy, some blurred vision but it's all better than it had been just seems it should be gone since the meds are out of my system.
My left lower leg keeps falling asleep today, tingling for hours now. Other than jaw pain on the same side nothing else out of the ordinary. I am taking avelox for infected tooth. could this be allergic reaction? very troubling to me. 56 years old female.
I had sciatica on the right side and down my leg for several months after I slipped on the stairs and fell on my right side and now the pain has moved to the left butt cheek. I did everything except acupuncture. I had a MRI and it showed I had spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal cord causing a pinched nerve along with degenerative disc disease. I had a steroid shot and it didn't help much. I have been trying to strengthen my abdominal muscles and so far it is helping.
I feel quite sure this is a symptom of it, but with the pain I am having in that leg at the hip and the vibrations down the leg, I need relief, not diagnosis. I am already taking arthritis medication, though it appears that may need to try another type to address this issue. I am also taking over the counter Glucosamine and chronditin, which are combined supplements that are suppose to help regenerate the cartilage around the joints that causes osteo-arthritis.
, inhaler and singulair. That night I had terrible leg and arm pain and WEAKness! It was horrible. Next morning drained and nervous to take meds thinking same thing will happen.
she examined me and spoke with me about my family history and my pain, diarrhea and nauseau. She felt it is diverticulitis and prescribed Avelox 400 mg, 1 pill a day for 10 days and referred me to a GI doctor. I've been taking the antibiotic since Thursday, and the pain is somewhat relieved, however, not the diahrrhea. There is a lot of gurgling and noise in my abdomen and the diarrhea is less intense, but I have more episodes of it. Is this normal while on the antibiotic?
just a helpful hint, I hope. I have had horrible pain in my right foot/leg and yes around the bone in my ankle for 20 years now. I had many many test. nothing showed so I was told to take 600mg of mortrin 4 times a day and to increase it if needed. I was taking 1000mg 4 times a day and that didn't help finally I went to PT and was told to put ICE on it several times a day NOT heat. after 18years I went for a 2nd opinion and got a diagnoses.
However, he said it could NOT be causing me so much pain. He checked out my arm and noticed a hard soft tissue knot, and suggested removing it through surgery and it "might" relieve my pain. So, 3 weeks ago I had the said surgery and it was removed (a hard soft tissue mass about the size of a marble). No, this was not the cyst inside my humerus bone. Anyways, I still have the pain, and it is extremely terrible at night (on a scale of 1 to 10, a 20 at night).
I had this rt upper quadrant pain for 7 yrs and all gallbladder tests normal. Eventually had worse pain and had an open removal of galbladder( not recommended!), no stones but very immflammed. I still had pain and tests showed I had a narrowed bile duct.I had an ercp with many complications, it always happens to nurses!!I had further troubles with narrowing of the bile duct and had stents for 12 mnths.
I have had a good amount of tendon pain mostly in left achilles and in tendons on top and bottom of arch of foot as well as some heel and knee pain. Again, like I said primarily left side. The achilles pain has subsided some, most of the pain and discomfort now is in the foot. I have taken quinolones a few times in the past (Cipro) with either no pain or some pain that subsided quickly at or shortly after end of course (same with left leg/foot, I think).
As far as the Horner's syndrome, that was the very first thing I had, but I don't know if it is even related to the stuff that came later (a gap of about four years until the fever/chest symptoms started in '94, the right blurred vision and right mouth droop in '98, and the return of chest symptoms and new-onset left leg and arm weakness in '99 with bad intestinal infection, and later swallowing difficulty-still have thumping on left side of throat when swallow, but no choking now).
Trust me when i say this that i know that it is hard because all you feel is pain and fatigue you just wish that it would end. One doctor after another I have gone to and they all say something different. Right now I am in the process to see if I have Endometriosis which i was told that i had when i was 15. I keep going to doctor after doctor and still no relief.
it has the nerve pain but in entire leg and arm as if from top it goes tearing down into the fingers and toes. like electic like odd painfull pain in lims.

i can't even eat a peice of cheese or anything for that matter without pain and this pain occurs while i'm eating and doen't go away.
I also had a viral infection and rash in the fall of 2001 and shortly after experienced internal vibrations, pins and needles pain, cramping, footdrop and intense pain in my left leg and foot. Sorry, to say these symptoms have worsened and my quality of life is impaired since I have problems, walking and with balance and coordination, besides weakness. Like most people experiencing neuro symptoms, mine are also worse in the evening and night.
About two years ago, I was rear-ended in my car (minor accident with some whiplash), approximately one year later (could be completely unrelated from accident), I started having intense dizziness/vertigo and back of head pain/aches that migrates to frontal head pain, sometimes stabbing pains in ears, sometimes ringing too. I had an MRI and CAT Scan of both Head and Sinuses.
My general doctor checked for potassium levels but they were fine. I have very bad shoulder and back pain along with all of this twitching. I am also experiencing headaches in the temple area. The twitching only happens when I am sitting or sleep. I have a very hard time resting because of the twitching. I have noticed that my muscles in my legs and arms feel very heavy. I am very worried and don't know what's wrong with me. PLEASE HELP if you can or have any advice. Thanks so much!
I then went to a more progressive ENT in 2005 who did an ethmoidectomy (removed the sinuses from between my eyes)and I really thought my problems were over. My pain and pressure were completely gone and I felt great. Until.....the beginning of the year I started having sinus infection problems with dizzyness and feeling totally lousey. A week and a half ago I was on my 3rd sinus infection when I finally went to a friend who is a Nurse Practitioner and had her culture my sinuses.
It started in the right arm, moved to the left arm, then the right leg, then the left leg and now occurs in most major muscle groups pretty much non-stop. I found this forum several years ago and used some of the suggestions like vitamin b's and magnesium which helped for awhile. I also quit smoking several times which temporarily helped after the initial stages but later the twitching was returned. In other words, none of the self-help tools have provided lasting relief.
Not every night, but 1 out of 4 at least. And I do still have some pain in my right face and ear. Again, I definitely will talk to the Dr. about what I've read in the forum and I appreciate everyone's input. I hope between us all we can get relief!
This pain would intensify which would cause me to wince in pain and then release and then repeat all over again every 5-10 seconds for about a minute. This pain did not radiate anywhere but only within a specific point. Then this same stabbing sensation occurred half way up to the first knuckle of my right middle finger about 30 minutes later. Then immediately following this finger pain I felt pain in my right foot at the joint of my middle toe.
In a week, she lost the use of the muscles in her face, hands, and legs. She also had pain in the neck. She had fallen at work and we thought it was just back and neck strain from the accident. When the parathesis set in, we went to a neurologist. After a series of MRI's she told us that there was nothing wrong with her. I told her that she was crazy and went to another doc in another town and found that she in fact had Guillian-Barre Syndrome.
or was watching the world through a movie projector, instead of through my own eyes and mind. Therefore, I am going to share with you all what *I* know about these phenomena, and hopefully reassure some of you that this is par for the anxiety course...it while irritating, maybe even maddening...it is totally harmless. Derealization and depersonalization are two terms that are sometimes used interchangably. Truth is, they DO vary a little bit in their presentation....
I have been having blurred vision, dizziness, pressure and fullness in ears and head and behind eyes, muscle weakness, joint pain, crick in neck, and severe fatigue for over a year now. Oh! also heart pounding and times where I can hear it in my head and feel it. Also deep itching sensations in my muscles that of course you can't scratch like pins and needles. Been to ENT nothing wrong with ears, been to primary doctor MRI normal. Switched Doctors because primary basically laughed at me.
We've been to a Veinous specialist, orthopedic specialist and a musculaskeletal specialist and they are all shaking their heads in dismay as to what this could possibly be. And...as you say she is almost always in some sort of pain and sometimes it's so bad she can hardly walk. And...yes it is in both calves at the same time. We had an MRI of her back done because that's theoretically where leg pain stems from, but her back looks fine.
I am going back to my dermatologist, but I am going to be taking the next step to see an infectious disease doctor to see what progress I have made, to find out where I stand at this point and most importantly what the future holds for me and my skin. Please let me know if you also have MRSA and can relate to my story.
I have history of chronic sinusitis and had surgery a few years ago for it, was on prednisone, levaquin and avelox in nov/dec and ct scan showed some blockage, but surgeon said he could do surgery but I wasn't sure.  My pcp said that this ent is a good doc, and doesn't just do surgery on everyone which I like, but while i was in with the ent he said the radiologist saw more blockage than he was seeing.  Could this be d/t radiologist is looking at my films and ent is looking at a CD?
Ughhh dont get me started on Levoquin or Avelox and Cipro. Dreadful Antibiotics and they should be taken off the market.. I only took one Avelox and experienced some alarming side effects.levoquin was a littel easier but after 5 days i could hardly get out of bed because i hurt so much and the nightmares where just alarming.Ok nothing to do with Menopause i know..sorry..I,m also going through Meno and my skin has gotten very dry and kinda saggy... Miserable isnt it.
No pain on bottom of heel. Now the right heel hurts on the left side all the time and the left heel has started to hurt in the same area. A visit to the podiatrist did not accomplish relief. He said my feet were tight and gave me stretching exercises. I do some stretching but feel minimal relief from the exercises.
