Off it for a week now and still really tired, various nerve pain, joint pain, muscle fatigue...seems to cycle, weak and dizzy, some blurred vision but it's all better than it had been just seems it should be gone since the meds are out of my system. I'm also dehydrated for no reason [drinking lots of water and electrolytes, no caffeine, no fever, no vomiting,etc.]. Unable to function normally, doctor doesn't seem to care or have any explanation.

I was diagnosed with pneumonia 4 days ago when I went in for pain in my heart area and shortness in breath.. I'm on antibiotics, still can't cough anything out but today I started feeling pain in my lower back area where kidneys are. I urinate every 10, 15 minutes and the color in clear.. My mouth is dry all the time which I think is a side effect from the antibiotics. Could have the pneumonia caused issues in my kidneys or bladder???

If the tendonitis is due to Avelox then yes, it can be treated as usual. The pain and inflammation will subside once the medication leaves the body completely. This may take a week. This is treated with NSAIDs, rest and orthotics or specially designed foot wear to ease the pressure off the tendon. Take care!

I wake up at night wheezy,coughing up white or clear phlem . I also have chest heaviness and itchiness in the chest area. I feel like there is phlem stuck in my throat and my nose feels stuffed.When it is hot out I get these same symptoms.could this be asthmatic bronchitis or something else. I took antibiotics and they didn't help so the doctor gave me avelox(a stronger antibiotic)I am afraid to take it because there are so many dangerous side effects.

I am sick of always being the mystery diagnosis patient! Also, my iron and ferritin levels have been on the low end, though I take Slow FE and cook with an iron skillet. I started having joint pain ( feet, ankles, knees, lower legs, fingers, wrist, forearms) a few days ago. It is really bad. I emailed the surgeon and she said that GM is not generally a systemic issue, so I should check with my primary care provider to address the joint pain. This seems short sided to me. I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question, wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.

After trying Doxy, Azithromycin, and Flagyl, the only antibiotic that finally worked was Avelox. The question now is what I should treat my partner with. I know from my experience that my NGU was passed sexually, and she needs to get treated before we can have sex again. The problem, is that she said she is allergic to Avelox. Another problem, is that since it is NGU, we cannot test to confirm if the bacteria is cured, and she is also asymptomatic.

treated with doxycycline by end of june for 1 wk. started on avelox end of july for 1 wk. then given levaquin for a wk. by last wk doc said she didn't think was infection cause levaquin shoudl have killed anything, even though I was still having gobs of green phlegm coming down the back of my throat and out of my lungs. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for.

I switched to Avelox and the stomach pain reduced quickly, so I do believe Rifampin was making it worse. About 2 weeks into Avelox I had some cramping in my left Achilles heel, so they switched me to Levaquin. If I have a problem with Levaquin, then no more drugs in that family for me. I don't know what the next choice is. It's all about risk vs. expected benefits.

5 weeks later,start feeling same testicular pain. I thought exercise?(lots of dumbbell swings). pain got worse, urethral discomfort AFTER urinat. Symptoms return gradually. went to Dr. and this time w/out being on antibiotics NAAT tested for G/C,trich, HIV, syph (had herpes hsv2 from my wife). Quick in-clinic urinalysis showed sterile urine, no WBC. The Dr. doesn't think it's STD, thinks it's prostatitis. Thus, Levaquin 400mg/ 10 days.. nothing. Reslts =NEG.
