Since her doctor discover problem with GOT and GPT she stopped taking atorvastatin (3mounts before) because they were suspicious that atorvastatin was reason for this problem but again GOP and GPT increase. Avatar n tn Associated with this, there was a lower rate of clinical events (myocardial infarction, revascularisation) over 2 years with atorvastatin than pravastatin (22.4 versus 26.3%, respectively). The Reversal of Atherosclerosis with Aggressive Lipid Lowering (REVERSAL) trial also enrolled patients requiring angiography, and pravastatin lowered the LDL-cholesterol to 2.84 mmol/l, whereas atorvastatin lowered the LDL-cholesterol to 2.04 mmol/l.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Losartan 25mg in the morning and 25 metoprolol succinate ER in the evening. My BP in the morning always ranges from 120/70 to 130/80 and evening it goes upto anywhere between 140/80 to 150/90 and some times even 160/100(rarely- but had readings like that). My HR in the morning is aroung 70 BPM and increases to around 90 in the evening.

Avatar m tn 57 Male never on medication and gym rat. I have been on Atorvastatin 40mg since middle of March. It was prescribed by my cardiologist for slightly high cholesterol level 225. Along with BP Med Losartan 50mg. All of this started when I wasn't feeling very well one day in February and went to outpatient clinic. Since then I've had a heart monitor, CT scan of heart and angiogram. All normal except angiogram showed one 70% blockage.
976897 tn?1379167602 I started rehab last week and after spending 30mins pedalling like crazy on an exercise bike, I only seem to be able to achieve a heart rate of 82. I was on beta blockers and stopped them a few months ago. Can they have a long term effect? There is a reason I am thinking this. I was hospitalised with a heart rate of 25 because 5mg of bisoprolol was too strong. Even several days being back on 1.25mg, my heart rate would not increase.
Avatar n tn It is easy to find information regarding drug-drug interactions for omeprazole (Prilosec) and atorvastatin (Lipitor). The omeprazole appears to increase the bioavailability of the statin, increasing the risk of side effects. Does this mean that the interaction is like taking a higher dose of the statin, which would provide benefit for someone like me who only takes a low dose (10mg atorvastatin daily) and has no statin tolerance issues?
Avatar f tn My endocrinologist prescribed me Atorvastatin 40mg in place of the simvastatin but it has since given my major chest pain and muscle weakness in my fingers and legs; so I was advised by the pharmacist to stop that and I have only taken the new statin twice and tonight was the second time taking it. Is simvastatin something that can be eased up to a higher dose to do the exact same thing atorvastatin does for the bad cholesterol?
Avatar n tn I have used 10mg Atorvastatin for years with no side effects. The doctor is switching me to simvastatin which reacted badly with my liver in the past. Aim is to save money. Is it safe to buy Atorvastatin online ?
Avatar n tn What is the statistic probability that Atorvastatin Ca will convert itself into his enantiomer? We believe that this conversion is improbable for 2 reasons First it requires breaking bonds in two different chiral sites in the molecule which will require substantial energy and will not happen spontaneously Second the statistical probability that the reforming of the bond in the enantiomer in this very specific way is close to zero. We would be appreciative to hear your opinion.
Avatar m tn If the atorvastatin is keeping your triglycerides down, you will need to continue taking this medication for life, UNLESS, you can get the trigs down thru diet. I assume you tried this before being prescribed the medication. Your trigs are currently 1.48mmol/L which is below the limit required for safety (1.7). You are only taking a very small dosage of Atorvastatin, most people are on 40mg daily.
Avatar m tn ve seen this Dr every year for the last 15 and never had a BP over 130/80. Dr put me on BP meds. This stuff was terrible!! I took it for about 2 weeks. Couldn't handle it anymore and went back to Dr and ended up seeing his nurse practitioner. Still feeling like crap and dizzy she did an EKG. She said it had a little funny thing to it and got me into a cardiologist with in a week. First thing the cardiologist did was changed my med. The new Med works great.

255738 tn?1230233362 I have tried reading about the EF and it sounds like numbers over 70 are concerning. Not sure, just looking for some idea of what is considered bad as far as high EF. I read 50 and lower is very concerning. Thanks for any insight.
Business man2 Over the last 7 years, to ENSURE I don't forget a Rx, I’ve taken all my “Rx meds and other OTC items” (with at least 12oz of water) first thing upon rising in the morning …. followed immediately by my same-breakfast-of-7 years of 2 “unprocessed” whole grain/nut/fruit breakfast bars (held together by (alas) maltose) and a full 20oz+ of water.
Avatar m tn He prescribed Atorvastatin in addition to vitamins but I did a small research about Atorvastatin and find out there are some contradictions about usefulness of Atorvastatin. Of course the contradiction relates to use of Atorvastatin in combination of interferons and he prescribed Atorvastatin in combination with vitamins but I have not decided whether I use it or not. 1->http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18398457 2->http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar m tn Hello, The data is quite supportive of taking a low dose daily aspirin if you are over the age of 40 year and have diabetes, in order to help prevent heart attack and stroke. The aspirin may not seem as though it is doing anything obvious, but it is likely doing great preventive things on your behalf. The Atorvastatin is something you should discuss further with your doctor.
Avatar n tn My mother has been put on Atorvastatin and within one week she has had extreme confusion and forgetfulness. This has been the only medical change. Is this a side effect from it and can they show up this quickly?
Avatar n tn Your cholesterol is obviously high, so perhaps trying a different brand of statin would be a good idea. I take atorvastatin with no problems, and the highest allowed dosage of 80mg. My cholesterol was 9.7 and is now around 3.
