Avatar m tn My 32 month old has been followed by a pediatrician for short stature (~5th percentile) and a persistent open fontanelle for the past 8 months. My son has more recently also been diagnosed with high myopia (approx -7 in both eyes). I have been concerned with no testing done for the fontanelle to rule out causes. The ophthalmologist has confirmed that high myopia like this in a child this age is very unusual and usually seen in a child with a syndrome or who was premature (he was not).
107366 tn?1305680375 I have been on Aromasin for about 12 weeks. I took Femara for a short time back last fall, and again this spring. Are any of you on Aromasin, Femara, Tamoxifen, or Arimidex experiencing joint/bone pain? If so, do you find it getting worse the longer you are on it? I finally got off IV chemo in favor of taking AI's because IV chemo was doing too much damage and I needed a break.
Avatar f tn From birth there were few other symptoms of this person like short stature, squint, small hands, legs, swelling like lower body, large forehead(all operated corrected stature, eyes so not noticeable except weight gain on lower belly). All kinds of chromosal genetic testing done it came back negative for any other conditions except thyroid which was self diagnosed as doctors were saying everything was alright.
Avatar f tn t undergone puberty yet. Still should I prefer this surgery? My short stature makes me feel inferior and worthless often.
Avatar m tn After seeing an endocrinologist who ran all types of blood work which came back normal with the exception of his estrogen level a bit higher then normal and had an X-ray of his hand which showed bones of a 13 half to 14 half yr old (I was told was good ) want to give my son arimidex. My question is......is this safe for teen boys. I read its not FDA approved for children.
Avatar f tn Anyone taking Arimidex or has taken it in the past. I am looking for feedback if it helped lower the ca 125??? My CA 125 is rising from 93 to 156 and now in the 230's... however nothing has changed on my pet scan and no measurable disease... I am seeing my onc on Monday...and he had recommended to try if i want Arimidex. I have other options like trying different chemo's... but then we are just treating the number... I wanted to give this a try.... what do you think...
Avatar f tn 30am, at 12:30p I went to bed for a few hours. Long story, short....I've been feeling horrible since last Tuesday. No energy, very tired and shaky, MENTAL FOG, very emotional, I've cried at least one time everyday since. Even when I was diagnosed with BC i believe I cried only once. I feel I can't do this for 5 years. I tried 1/2 pill yesterday to see if there is any difference, I think there is.
Avatar m tn gov/media/75520/download Personally, I do think it is hard for boys to be of short stature and advanced bone age can have other implications later on. I'd consider trying it but that is totally a personal choice. I do not like to give my kids medication but I saw the impact on my nieces lives to become 'more normal' and it was a positive.
Avatar n tn I have only had Arimidex. I only took it for about 2 months during my remission. I didn't really understand that it could have actually prevented my recurrence. It did cause a similiar bone pain to the carbo/taxol I had done. For that reason I quit taking it. There are doctors also using one now called Femara. Maybe one of those would work for you.
Avatar n tn I am a mosaic turners female and it is possible to not know. I was late in getting period and had short stature( treated with protropin) also have madelungs deformity. the person above is right. if no period ever, get checked. certain things are time sensitive. I am now 5'6 but would have been 4'11 without protropin.
Avatar n tn I learned that some weman experienced elevated blood pressure and blood clots while on Arimidex. And Arimidex is known to cause high blood pressure and blood clots. How do know for sure that Arimidex is the cause of my high blood pressure?
Avatar m tn There is multiple situations in which are current understand of growth plate closures is contradicted for example, we believe if the growth plates are undetectable by x-ray they are closed I beg to differ there are multiple example of people developing acromegaly in their late 20s or early 30s and due to the excess growth hormone released they have grown substantially in stature which under are current understand is impossible I can point you to a specific case Tanya angus she developed acro

Avatar m tn I am suffering extreme depression and its the ONLY thing i need, i was always short since childhood and didnt take my short stature seriously. But at 16 my height was 5ft3inches.(161cm) (right now, iam 17 and my height is 5ft4,163cm)) My dads height is 5ft8, my moms height is 5ft1. I have many famliy relatives above 6ft, my grandfather was 6ft2 and my uncle is 6ft1. But when i reached an endocrinologist, he took some tests and i was normal.
359668 tn?1201448273 So, feel reassured the chromosome analysis was normal. You and your husband are both of short stature, so no surprise the baby appears the same. Best regards, Dr.
Avatar n tn ) I also now occasionally consult a holistic MD (referred by my oncologist) for nutritional advice. I am thinking of adding a supplement with the arimidex (broccoli seed extract - a natural aromatase inhibitor) and monitoring estradiol/estrone with blood tests after starting the supplement. If there were a negative interaction between the arimidex and the broccoli seed extract, how accurate would the blood test's estrogen results be?
Avatar n tn My case is very similar to yours,my bone density is not very good either.I've been taking arimidex for almost a year now and so far, I've been tolerating it pretty well . For my bones I take Calcium+vitamin D, and once weekly Novo Alendronate which is the equivalent of what you are taking now.
Avatar n tn Suggest replacing his milk with Pediasure, milkshakes (milk and ice cream blended), or yogurt smoothies (yogurt, ice cream, or frozen fruit-if he accepts it- blended) for additional calories and protein for weight gain. Hoped this helped.

551885 tn?1300383822 watched what he is doing already he said to go baby proof our house ASAP cause he is WAY early with everything he is doing. This may actually be attributed to his short stature since he can balance better and get around easier. But all in all he is very healthy and that is all we really care about :) I like that he is doing all this stuff but I really want him to stay a baby for as long as he can. I am exhausted as it is now and he is just starting to crawl...
Avatar n tn I would seem odd to have this type of reaction since you've been on Arimidex for over 2 years but I suppose anything is possible. Since the Oncologist thinks your symptoms may be caused by something other than the drug you might want to ck. with a Neurologist regarding this numbness OR perhaps an Internist, since this may even be a circulatory issue.Sounds like it's going to be a process of elimination in order to find the cause. Regards ....
Avatar f tn I just completed 5 years on arimidex and have been asked to be part of a study and go on it for another 5 years. Has cancer reoccurred in patients while they have been on arimidex, not due to the drug, but due to the cancer. In other words, does taking arimidex prevent cancer from reoccurring while a patient is on it?

Avatar n tn I started taking Arimidex about five months ago. Since then I have had many of the typical side effects such as hand/joint pain, neuropathy in my hands, hot flashes, wakefulness at night etc. However, my sight in one eye has also begun to noticeably deteriorate. I know, because I had my eyes checked and a new eye prescription just before I started taking Arimidex. I saw my eye doctor again last week and my vision has deteriorated from 20/40 to 20/70 (with correction) in just a few months.
