arimidex

Avatar n tn Many women suffer from hot flashes caused by these medications but can find some relief when they avoid hot and spicy foods, caffeinated drinks, alcohol and smoking and having lots of fans in the house...LOL. I hope that your wife will soon consult with her Oncologist and see what can be done to relieve her discomfort. All the best to both of you...
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed in 08 and am her2 positive. I went through chemo, radiation and 1 year of hercepton. Since then I"ve beem on arimidex. My main complaint other then hot flashes (terrible lol) is fatigue. It seems that I"ve lost alot of energy. The fatigue comes shortly after I start a project. Because of the hot flashes I get little sleep some nights but does the arimidex also cause fatigue? Is a side effect of hercepton fatigue (taken in 09,,,,?
Avatar n tn ve recently started Arimidex 5 days ago and again noticed dry eyes and my vision does not seem as clear once again. I have to believe that it's the Arimidex and Tamoxifin.
Avatar f tn I am thinking of starting progesterone - it helps the bones, stops the hot flashes and night sweats, and supposedly helps prevent breast cancer. What was your dexa score?
Avatar f tn Hi Japdip, Thanks for your reply. Yes, it was approved by my doc. The joint pain and hot flashes were much worse as well. I'm getting handfuls of hair every day in the bathtub drain. I am concerned that the hair loss is irreversible or may not grow back until I am finished with Arimidex. What I have read is the jury is still out if it's permanent or not, and I haven't read anything about going from one AI to another. I learned that Aromasin and Arimidex are quite different.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Arimidex for almost 2 years. Outside of hot-flashes, no other side-effects. About 3 weeks I got a rash or acne in a small area on my face. It now goes over my nose, on my upper lip and some on lower lip areas. Iam 57 and always had a good complection so I'm not sure if this is acne or a rash. Could this be caused by Arimidex?
Avatar m tn Hi there, I am also taking Arimidex, once a day.I prefer to take it at 8pm.If you are concerned about changing the time for taking the pill, the best thing to do is to call the pharmacy where you bought the medicine from,I am sure they would be the best people to advise you about it. Taking Arimidex at night, helps me to sleep and I don't seem to have a lot of hot flashes.Best wishes.
Avatar f tn My friend has been taking Arimidex for two years and has all the usual side effects--hot flashes, muscle aches, lack of sleep but, in spite of all her exercising and walking and careful eating, all of the weight gain has been in her stomach and she is at a loss of what to do to lose it. Nothing seems to work and she's very unhappy with that particular location? Anyone else know of weight gain from the drug at that spot specifically?
Avatar n tn the most common side effects seen with ARIMIDEX include hot flashes, joint symptoms, weakness, mood changes, pain, sore throat, nausea and vomiting, depression, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, swelling of arms/legs, and headache. Fractures (including fractures of the spine, hip, and wrist) occurred more frequently with ARIMIDEX than with tamoxifen (10% vs 7%). As for the burning...I,personally,have never been able to use anything but Ivory. Allergies.
Avatar f tn 1 (osteopenia). Based on the bone density scan and the hot flashes, I do not want to take Arimidix. I want to start bio identical hormones. My onclogist is very much against this decision. I have looked for clincial trials for BHRT & breast cancer and found nothing. There seems to be no solution for hot flashes for breast cancer patients. What do you think about a 48 yr old cured breast cancer patient taking bioiidentical hormones? Thank you.
Avatar f tn I have gradually gained 40 pounds, continually have hot flashes and night sweats, have joint pain and now starting to retain water/have diarreah. I had a 135 IQ but after being on Arimidex lost the ability to do math and have problems with simple addition and subtraction. Also I have directional issues. I get lost easily, it being worse if I am overly tired or stressed out. I always keep a Garmin in my automobile. I also have acquired problems with spelling and remembering things.
Avatar n tn One thing I did to help with the hot flashes (after I quit taking Effexor for the mood swings) was to change up how and when I took my Tamoxifen. I take it with breakfast and that seems to have mellowed everything out. I've been taking Tamoxifen for 2 years, took Effexor with it for the first year and half. My docs did not want to remove my ovaries, I've forgotten the reason behind that. I did ask since estrogen seems to be a bad thing. Good luck to you!
378102 tn?1215571666 I didn't realize that black cohash was like a soy thing -- glad someone corrected me -- I just stopped my Calcium as I see it is in a soy oil base -- will have to find another one --- antidepressants and antianxiety meds really help a lot with hot flashes -- when i had my surgery I was already on them and it made it tolerable -- the first recurrence I was not and the tamoxifen had be just about over the edge -- I was wringing my clothes out and was so crabby we almost got divorced -- this re
1030058 tn?1252253572 I have now nearly completed 5 years of Arimidex, My Oncologist ir recommending that in October I change to Femara secondary to a clinical trial which has concluded that I am at some risk of the cancer still recurring. I am unsure about this as the side effects of the arimidex hot flashes, weight gain etc causing me to be on a high dose of Effexor are quite debilitating at times. What are my risks if I choose to just stop the Arimidex and not continue with a change to Femara...
Avatar f tn I had neoadjuvant act chemo for 5 months for IDC bilateral breast cancer followed by a bilateral mastectomy and a second surgery for an infection on my left side expander removed and then started radiation. Expander could not be put back in so 1 breast has expander and the other nothing. I will have reconstructive surgery April 2014. I started arimidex December 2013 I have experienced hot flashes which I'm used too. I take a organic bone support supplement.
Avatar n tn In the early breast cancer clinical trial, the most common side effects seen with ARIMIDEX include hot flashes, joint symptoms (including arthritis and arthralgia), weakness, mood changes, pain, back pain, sore throat, nausea and vomiting, rash, depression, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, fractures, swelling of arms/legs, insomnia, and headache. Patients taking ARIMIDEX were less likely than those taking tamoxifen to stop treatment because of side effects.
Avatar n tn I combat all of these lovely things with Ambien CR to sleep at night and Neurontin to help with hot flashes. And lets not just think hot flashes, lets think HAIR ON FIRE hot flashes! I also take Lexapro to combat the rest of the issues like mood swings which I never had before and anxiety caused by the cancer diagnosis. The side effects are unpleasant to say the least but are do-able for some and not others.
Avatar m tn ve been going through menopause for about 15 years, still get hot flashes....will the anti-estrogen therapy get rid of them, or make them worse?
Avatar f tn I am starting radiation soon and then Arimidex for 5 years. I can deal with all the treatment but for some reason the fear has not left me yet. When does the fear become managemable? I am in my mid 50's and have been blessed with a wonderful life, but when all is quiet i think way too much.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with breast cancer and after my lumpectomy and radiation, my oncologist started me on Tamoxifen. Shortly after I started the drug, I started having hot flashes and bad leg cramps. My doctor then prescribed Effexor for those side effects. I started at 37.5 mg and worked up to 75mg which I took for 5 years. A month ago he changed my prescription to 37.5 mg and said to stop once the medicine ran out. I took my last pill 3 days ago. I feel horrible.
Avatar f tn I am taking Effexor XR and it has been a lifesaver for me. I am on Arimidex and was having hot flashes and was depressed after breast cancer treatment. I had been on it before and stopped taking it without any problem. I know everybody is different. It sure helped me!!!
Avatar f tn I am opting for the Arimidex for a month and see how my ca125 trends... and besides it gives me a month off of chemo... which i can use. Thanks for your comments ...
Avatar f tn Toxicity was modest (grade I) and infrequent, with the most common toxicities being fatigue and hot flashes. There were no thrombotic complications. Median time to progression for patients with estrogen receptor-positive tumors was 72 days as compared to 125 days for those with tumors negative for the estrogen receptor (P = 0.95, log-rank test). The median time to progression in patients with progesterone-positive tumors was 77 days and 91 days for patients with progesterone-negative tumors.
Avatar f tn says it works great on reducing hot flashes. If this is so maybe I will cut back on HRT for hot flashes. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Pregnancy night sweats are similar to hot flashes, although they take place during the night as a woman sleeps as opposed to hot flashes that occur during the day. Night sweats during pregnancy, which is also known as "nocturnal hyperhydrosis" during pregnancy occur because the body´s temperature gauge begins to malfunction as a result of hormonal imbalance that occurs during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I had hysterectomy in my 30s in mid 40s was having hot flashes and md put me on estrogen AND started treating Hashimoto. I developed numerous breast lumps went to MDA and found only cyst caused by the estrogen. The MD there said my hot flashes were not menopause they were from the thyroid.
Avatar f tn She had to have a totally historictimy(sp) at 24-26 because she had cancer, and that through her in to early menopause and so she dealt with the hot flashes for years (she is 51 now) and she finally went to the doctor and it was her body being so out of wack so the doctor put her on some hormones to help balance her out. You might also go to your local herbs store to see if they have anything that might help you out natural but always consult with your doctor.
Avatar f tn I had a pacemaker put in about 2 months ago after ungoing 2 ablation procedures for WPW. I have been experience hot flashes during the night and also a few during the day ever since. I am wondering if this could possibly be a side effect of the pacemaker or would it be happening anyway due to my age (52) and menopause.
