Hi, I too was taking Tamoxifen and then was switched to Arimidex and then Aromasen. I am now back on Tamoxifen. I had so many problems with the other meds. I am very sensative to meds and the later 2 did not work. I have a few problems with Tamoxifen but it is better than the others for me. My Dr. said that it is not a problem being in "forced" menopause and the fact that I had a hysterectomy as well. One thing we always have to remember is that we are our own advocate...

I have had IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) for 35 years, but mostly very mild and not very problematic since I was in my 20s. Now, in the past couple of years, I have g.i. symptoms I hardly ever had before-- heartburn, acid reflux, pain in my small and large intestines, occasional nausea. Diagnostic tests have not revealed a reason for this. But recently I have been wondering--could the g.i. symptoms be a side effect of anastrozole (arimidex)?

My headaches were checked with a brain MRI contrast scan and the scan was normal. .Bloods fine and glaucoma eye test as well. I understand the ongoing fatigue,however the headache continues with no abatement.I have tried medicine for migraine as well as traditional non steroid meds and prednesone.I have no history of any headaches.The headache feels like a constant squeeze around my head.No pounding or sharp pain exists however they persist.My doctor says this is not associated with radiation??

I have gradually gained 40 pounds, continually have hot flashes and night sweats, have joint pain and now starting to retain water/have diarreah. I had a 135 IQ but after being on Arimidex lost the ability to do math and have problems with simple addition and subtraction. Also I have directional issues. I get lost easily, it being worse if I am overly tired or stressed out. I always keep a Garmin in my automobile. I also have acquired problems with spelling and remembering things.

I have been on Arimidex for 3 years and I have the exact same problem with the weight gain in my stomach. I don't know if it will ever come off but all I can do is hope. I am cancer free since my surgery and the pills and hope to remain so. My oncologist seems to think every thing is going very well at this time. After all this is the most important part of it, remaining cancer free. I wish all well and hope you continue to remain cancer free.

I learned that Aromasin and Arimidex are quite different. Aromasin permanently binds to the Aromatase and Arimidex is temporary. I'll have to do more research about what that means chemically.

Has anyone experienced a full face full of acne for a prolonged period after starting Arimidex? It is my friend who had breast cancer and she is blind and wants to write for her. She also has Lupus but she has seen a dermatologist and rheumatologist and they dismiss it as acne. She knows she is out of remission with discoid lupus. But they assured her the 'acne" is not lupus breakout.

I hate to tell you but I am on Arimidex and I have joint pain in my hips and knees and my fingers are stiff and swollen -- It started two weeks after I started the Arimidex --- It may be gentler than Femara but for me it hasn't been a walk in the part either -- Sorry your mom is feeling so poorly -- I hope they help her quickly -- maybe she should be taking Calcium with Vitamin D in the meantime

Each person reacts differently to certain medications and if you see that the Arimidex does give you too many problems,your oncologist can prescribe another one that will suit you better.I think we all prefer to do without all these anti estrogen pills,but personally I would be too afraid to stop taking it and run the risk of recurrence.I had only one little tumor that was invasive and estrogen receptive and I was reluctant to start Arimidex too...

I would advise you to have a serious discussion with your Oncologist regarding the problems you are having with the Arimidex. There may be another medication that you could switch to that wouldn't cause so much pain and destruction. You might even have to weigh the benefits vs. these severe side effects and have to discontinue the drug on the basis of the findings.

For the past five weeks, I have been bleeding and appear to be having a period. Does anyone relate to this? I am overweight, stressed, and too busy to exercise in case there is a connection. Any experience out there with this?

I am thinking of adding a supplement with the arimidex (broccoli seed extract - a natural aromatase inhibitor) and monitoring estradiol/estrone with blood tests after starting the supplement. If there were a negative interaction between the arimidex and the broccoli seed extract, how accurate would the blood test's estrogen results be?

re extremely low. I hate estrogen pills like arimidex and aromasin. Is cialis safe to take with Entecavir? I thought about adding Cialis but the headaches and flu like symptoms can be bad at times but it works every time.

Hi - after I finished chemo and starting rads in 2003 I was prescribed tamoxifen, took it for 2 months and my Oncologist changed me to Arimidex (one of the aromatose inhibitors) which I think has a 50% better prognosis for non recurrence than the old "gold standard" tamoxifen. I was thrilled, as it had just come on to the market here in England. However, 4 yrs down the line, I stopped it 4 weeks ago, due to severe bone pain (hips, hands and feet) and the pain has gone!

Been on Arimidex 26 months. Having numbness in hands and feet. Oncologist doesn't think it's related to Arimidex. Anyone have this problem while on this drug?

I just completed 5 years on arimidex and have been asked to be part of a study and go on it for another 5 years. Has cancer reoccurred in patients while they have been on arimidex, not due to the drug, but due to the cancer. In other words, does taking arimidex prevent cancer from reoccurring while a patient is on it?

I'm not sure that your problems can be the result of Arimidex. There are other drugs and each and every one has basically the same side effects BUT not all are always experienced by every person ... also many even though a factor, are not experienced to the same degree. You might take this up with your Oncology Team in detail. You should remember though that this may be totally unrelated to Arimidex or any other aromatase inhibitor. Regards ....

I am now also starting to experience severe pain in my joints even my jaw and teeth.. With the Arimidex the pain happened 2 weeks in. With Aromasin, it's taken over a year to build up. I was just pre-oped for more reconstructive surgery and my labs were horrible. My face around my lips and my lips were swollen and dry with sores. I gained like 10lbs in a week without hardly eating and my diabetes that was in remission is back. Please can you get me answers. Especially about the eyes.

When I say that I tried Arimidex, Tamoxifin, and Femera..... Arimidex made my joints so stiff and sore that I couldn't even walk without extreme pain. So I was put on Tamoxifin and within 3 months my WBC dropped to 1.3 which is one of the rare side effects. At that time I was changed to Femera, shortly after that I had vaginal bleeding so they did a D/C and 2 weeks later I started bleeding again.
