Common Questions and Answers about Anorexia affects media

anorexia

Avatar f tn There is also an eating disorders forum on here as well which might help, sadly I don't think youre going to get a lot of help with anorexia on the bipolar forums but its worth the question. I tend to be the same as leftcoastchick - doctor is the person you need, I know anorexia needs serious help and counselling but id also wonder if it is anorexia which has fairly specific symptoms and behaviours as opposed to not eating which is indeed possibly an attempt at suicide.
Avatar f tn Yes you can have stomach pain along with many other symptoms. Anorexia and Anorexia Nervosa are actually two different things.. Anorexia is simply not eating, it doesn't necessarily mean you don't WANT to eat, just a lack of eating for whatever reason. Anorexia Nervosa (what people are usually talking about when they use the term Anorexia) is when you don't eat because you think you are fat, or you have a strong fear of gaining weight.
5627628 tn?1400006216 Not to mention the pressure of media for pregnant women to look a certain way all belly and skinny everywhere else is not real. We all grow differently. So I chose to only do it during my dr appts that way im not too focused on it. I do eat healthy. And my dr appts have been going fine. So do you find it beneficial to weigh often or not? Your thoughts...

1938479 tn?1325705620 Keep in mind that if girls in your school and on your social media pages are promoting being thin and acting like anorexia is the "in" thing and are pressuring you that this is a horrible idea and will have profound consequences on their lives as well as anyone they manage to influence. Anorexia is a mental illness. Being thin as a stick is not healthy. Eating healthy and getting just the right balance in exercise and rest is so much better for you.
Avatar n tn people revolve around social media and girls all around the world are judging themselves to models, photoshopped models. you are a gorgeous human being and you should strut what you have. live in the now. be confident and happy because that's how you should live life. stay strong. and don't let people bring you down.
Avatar f tn So wrong. The media has great influence over what we consider to be Anorexia. I also heard the model comments too. Well if you keep going this way, you'll be dead. And you can't model then can you? (that's not a mean comment ps. I hope the tone isn't taken the wrong way) For a nurse to say that! I am disgusted. But I have also been to the ER several times, and got the strangest looks from the nurses and dr's when I explained that I have Anorexia and EDNOS.
6811971 tn?1385557755 I suffered from Anorexia for six years of my life and have been recovered for twelve years now. For me, I experienced some gas and bloating. This can be quite stressful as it makes one feel full and gaining weight. I found that mixing some natural ginger in a tea or water helped. Also, digestion was a little slow for me. To help that along, I used papaya and pineapple. They both contain digestive enzymes called papain and bromelain respectively.
Avatar m tn Hello. I'm new and terrified for a friend who says she's been diagnosed with Lyme disease. At first, I had no reason to believe otherwise. However, I'm not sure now. She has lost an extreme amount of weight. A couple of years ago when this all began, she was losing weight quickly and couldn't eat anything unless it was pureed. Without going into all the details, she presented all the signs of anorexia and still does.
Avatar n tn Not eating properly affects more than your weight. It affects all the organs of your body. Please check with your doctor. I hope you can find a balance between feeling good about yourself and feeling healthy too.
5805034 tn?1403865293 It really affects me. I already have soo many issues, (depression) and it makes it worse. I really need help.

Avatar f tn why do girls with anorexia stop getting their periods ? what is the link to Kyphosis to anorexia ?
Avatar f tn t happen over night and doing it right will keep it off longer... With anorexia the second you start to eat your body holds in everything including the fat because it knows you will starve it again. Also when you stop eating your body will start to eat itself (including your muscles). You can do this hun... keep it up and persevere.
179856 tn?1333547362 t know anything about Portia. I had no idea she suffered from anorexia nervosa. I assumed she had anorexia - eating disorder from any cause - and that is why I assumed the anorexia resulted from her cirrhosis. Now, that I have read the gossip/Oprah stuff I lean more towards Willy's opinion.
Avatar f tn If your blood tests are fine, you don't feel nauseous, sick or dizzy, and you are developing normally, I don't see the reason why you would eat more and force yourself to eat (unless you're eating below 1000 calories a day). And no, it's not anorexia. Anorexia is a mental disease. Try counting calories and keeping the intake above 1200 calories, that's perfectly enough. If struggling, try taking vitamin b complex- it makes you hungry. I hope it helped.
Avatar n tn Dear kate306, Your gastrointestinal system could definitely be thrown off from your anorexia. Your current anxiety could be the culprit for your diarrhea. Anxiety and Anorexia often go hand in hand. Seeking medical attention for your diarrhea is recommended. Getting to the root of your anxiety and decreasing your anxiety is critical.
