Angiography contrast

Common Questions and Answers about Angiography contrast

angiogram

Avatar f tn MR angiography may be performed with or without contrast material. If needed, the contrast material is usually injected using a vein in the arm. What are some common uses of the procedure?
Avatar f tn Well, I'm home from having had my CT Angiography of the brain and heart. Now, I just have to wait one week until I go back to the neuro to find out the results of it. The Neuro said my last MRI was the weirdest and unusual MRI of the brain that she had ever seen. The report said something about Vertebral Basilar Insufficiency and something about an enlarged vessel or something. My brainstem has moderate damage (Chronic Gliosis) and it didn't sound like it was damaged from the MS.
400099 tn?1282954864 MRA stand for "magnetic resonance angiography" which is just another term for MRI "magnetic resonance image". In other words you have an MRA in order to get an MRI.
Avatar m tn Is the difference based on whether or not contrast is used? Ive had a brain mri with contrast to rule out tumors and any other serious issues that may be related to my constant head pressure/aches, floaters, and other symptoms. The doctor wants to schedule a mra with and without contrast. If both use the same mri tunnel for the procedure, how do they vary?
Avatar m tn There were a few branches unclipped, obviously it is an unsatisfying result of his surgery. The LV on the contrast LV angiography revealed good systolic. Any advice on what possible interventions could be applied in this case would be appreciated. Darren.
Avatar n tn Hi there I was hoping that maybe someone might be able to help me... For the past fourteen months, I've had extremely severe headaches. Some days I'd wake up with them, and others they would develop throughout the day. For the past month or so, I've been experiencing the headaches much more frequently and they are much more painful. I have become extremely sensitive to light and it has now got to the point where even moving my head would cause unbearable pain.
Avatar m tn ve just had is called a nuclear perfusion scan and it basically involved putting a radioactive contrast into your blood stream which will find its way into your cells. This contrast is called Thallium and the ideology being, if there is no thallium in a group of cells, then they are going to be dead. This is because they have been without a blood supply for too long, the vessel supplying those cells is blocked. The thallium doesn't stay in your body very long after.
Avatar f tn No previous MR for comparison. No midline abnormalities except signal changes within the corpus callosum. A craniocervical junction is difficult to assess due to lack of T1 sagittal weighted images. Posterior fossa is not enlarged. The craniocervical junction is not well demonstrated. Aqueduct is patent. There is some prominence of the occipital horn of left lateral ventrical which may represent normal anatomical variation.
Avatar m tn Is it advisable to go for angiography check up as six years have passed post surgery? Are there any side effects after angiography? My physician has recommended Angiography check up as life of stent is normally 10 years .I shall be pleased to receive your recommendation and advise.
Avatar f tn MRI of the brain was performed without and with intravenous gadolinium contrast. MR angiography using 3D time of flight without gadolinium contrast was also performed with multi-planar and 3D reconstructed images.
122065 tn?1241385329 Just had an angiography of the eyes with contrast as a followup to the vitreous separation and a cotton wool patch was discovered on the left eye. Health is good - low blood pressure, no diabetes, low cholesterol, etc. Doc assured me it will go away but was concerned with what may have caused it. I am on HRT and he said this could be the culprit. Ae there any symptoms with these patches? That eye is feeling just a bit off.
Avatar f tn 3-D time-of-flight MRA of the circle of Willis was obtained without contrast. FINDINGS: MRA of the circle of Willis demonstrates a hypoplastic right A1 segment. Redemonstration of a inferiorly and medially directed 3 mm outpouching which probably reflects an aneurysm arising from the inferior aspect of the supraclinoid right internal carotid artery. This is not significantly changed compared to the prior study.
Avatar f tn A dilated blood vessel can be seen on contrast enhanced CT scan. Contrast is a dye injected into the body. This dye accumulates in the brain blood vessels and can be seen on the CT scan. An MRI is a better imaging technique. MRA 9Magnetic resonance Angiography) is still better. Have you considered or ruled out migraine ? Do you have nausea and any other problems ?
677100 tn?1226277055 i'm trying to figure out why i am continuing to have severe chest pain 7 months after i had a 7 inch long blood clot removed from my pulmonary artery. it formed while i was on bed rest with my twins, and immediately after i was closed up from my c-section i went into cardiac arrest because it had gone into my lungs, then artery.
Avatar m tn t any information that you have posted indicates any angiography exam (injection of contrast medium to dx any vessel occlusions) is warranted. I am looking at it from a perspective of the health insurance provider. The procedure requires an explanation to the insurance provider such as angina pertoris symptoms, and other tests showing positive for coronary artery disease, etc.
Avatar n tn Non ionic dyes are used instead of ionic dyes for placement of stent during angiography. The side effects associated with ionic contrast media are prevented by using nonionic contrast agents. However, some incidences of thrombotic events occurring during routine angiography with nonionic media suggest that nonionic media may be a procoagulant. Increased blood creatinine is usually a sign of kidney function disorder.
Avatar f tn I have to have a yearly CT Angio with contrast to check on a brain aneurysm. I have had palpitations and chest tightness that lasts approximately 30 seconds with each one. I am pre-medicated with prednisone and benedryl yet with my last scan, I still had severe palpitations. My heartbeat was very slow and hard. Just as I was about to tell the technician, it stopped. I am having a CT Angio Wednesday and am wondering how dangerous this is.
Avatar m tn Was there any special reason why your cardiologist prescribed a cardiac MRI instead of say a heart catheterization with angiography? I am not sure which test would give the best and most accurate picture of the heart's arteries and occlusions or narrowings.
Avatar n tn excessive bleeding at the site of the incision, infection at the incision site, allergic reaction to the contrast dye. Serious complications which are very rare occurrence include blood clots, stroke, kidney or blood vessel damage. It is best that you inform your doctor about this for proper evaluation. Additional diagnostic tests such as echocardiogram may be indicated. Take care and do keep us posted.
649966 tn?1226660062 I have recently had a CT with oral (barium) contrast, as well as iodine contrast via IV. My doctor said that every thing was fine, however I'm still experiencing the pulsations as well as the small stools. Any thoughts?
17646939 tn?1458700001 I was shocked and refused, because I had a bad reaction to the contrast dye. So I acquired the test results Apparently I also had angiography. Before the test I took the 50 mg of metotopol 2hr prior to my appt. They could not get an IV in me for 2hrs. They tried for a deep vein but finally went with a superficial one. The dye gave me the worst headache and I started to swell but I was so sore and bruised that was my main focus. The results were compromised because my heart rate was 84.

Avatar f tn My Grandmother has been detected with a blockage in heart, and its not getting well by the use of medicines. Her Doctor is suggesting Angiography now. Her age is 81 by now. I wanted to take other Doctors opinion about this case.
