Alcohol allergy itchy skin

Common Questions and Answers about Alcohol allergy itchy skin

alcohol

Avatar n tn It could also be due to new soap, talcum powder, clothes etc. You must get an allergy test done, either a skin test or RAST, to know what you are allergic to. Fungal infections like tinea corporis and tinea cruris too cause whole body itching along with genital itching. Liver problems too can cause generalized itching. If the itch is only in the exposed part, it can also be due to sun allergy. Pubic and body lice can be another cause.
Avatar m tn Another differential is alcohol intolerance and its symptoms include headache, rapid heartbeat, nausea, vomiting, nasal congestion, warm/red/itchy skin, abdominal pain and runny nose. You need to go for an allergy testing for the ingredients of the beverage you take to know what you are allergic to and rule out any alcohol intolerance as well. For this please consult an allergist.
Avatar f tn ve noticed that the day after I have a few drinks, my neck and chest get this itchy, burning sensation that lasts a couple of days. It first happened to me when I was about 25, and would only occur if I drank a certain type of liquor. Now it happens no matter what I drink. I don't get any red bumps, but I just feel like my skin in the neck and chest area have this tingling, burning and itching that just makes me want to rip my skin off because it's so annoying.
Avatar n tn Hi all: This Friday will be my 5th week on meds. I just developed dry, itchy skin on face around mouth, under nose and chin. Has anyone else developed this. Is this part of the sx or am I developing an allergy? It is so irritating. I bought benadryl gel and put it on on the way home from work. It relieved it after a few minutes. I just washed my face and put on some more before bed. It burns a little when I put it on. I'm going to take a capful of liquid benadryl now and see if it goes away.
Avatar f tn The itch is intense and even more so when I rub the skin. The skin gets red around the scabs at the end of the day. Taking a shower is an ordeal. It's really hard not to scratch and so I just rub the scabs but there's no relief. They are spreading and there's nothing working. I mean the creams against itchiness work when I apply them but the scabs are not getting less itchy nor less small afterwards. I have scabs of all sizes and it's started over a month ago.
Avatar f tn ve tried every lotion there is, every hydrating body soap I could find, bombed my room twice with chemicals in case fleas or ticks were the cause (used to have a dog), purchased a mattress cover in case bed bugs were the culprit, washed all linens and bedding with detergents devoid of fragrance or dyes, drink tons of water, started taking milk thistle bc some mentioned it enhances liver function and that liver problems have been known to cause itchy skin in rare cases, etc.....
Avatar m tn It could be an allergy to alcohol, or certain types of alcohol, and totally unrelated to the mtx. Or the mtx is affecting your liver and kidney function to the point that it can't process the alcohol, leading to the itchy skin reaction. Either way, it sounds like you shouldn't be consuming alcohol until you find out the cause of your symptoms. This is something you don't want to test on your own, because allergies can be tricky.
16185611 tn?1445949214 Itchy skin is not necessarily due to an allergy. It is a hallmark of liver disease, among other disorders. You need a full in-person work-up by a primary care physician.
Avatar m tn Also one more query.. Can common cold and dust allergy enhance this type of allergy during summer ??
Avatar m tn alcohol does not affect allergy. you can be allergic to man made fibers. Using antihistamie tablets and applying antihistamine ointment can hep you.You may have to try different preparation. you may post your message in dermatology forum. you will get better suggestions as they are more expirienced.
Avatar n tn For that pls consult an allergy specialist and get skin ***** tests and blood tests for allergy done. If the skin testing is negative, it is likely that you are intolerant to wine and beer. If the skin testing is positive, you should avoid food and drink that contain that specific ingredient. Take care and pls do keep us posted if you have any additional queries.
Avatar n tn It sounds like the antihistamine may be drying your skin or possibly you have allergy skin. You may have a food allergy contributing to your allergies. You could try eliminating common offenders, such as milk, soy, wheat, citrus, etc.
779797 tn?1263618235 s called intoxication, not allergy. None of your symptoms point to an alcohol allergy. I suggest you stay away from it. Why make matters worse? Have you seen a doctor for any of these symptoms? Something as simple as an inner ear problem can also cause dizziness. Allergies can pop up out of nowhere. Did you test positive for anything?
Avatar f tn I can't tell at all if this is an allergic reaction to something I touched or something like dust mite is doing this to my skin all over my body. As far as I know, I'm only allergic to alcohol (itchy sking) and heavy dust (nose and eyes), and this started only yesterday after I took a nap on that old couch in the living room, which has almost never gave me problems except on 2 occasions (nose and eyes).

Avatar m tn for the past two week i been having real itchy skin expecially on my leg and arms and i dont know what to do.
Avatar f tn itchy, flushing face, itchy eyes, etc. I have read some posts that say an allergy to alcohol is rare but that it is likely something else in the wine or beer (preservatives, yeast, etc.). Also, I have read that it is possible that I have an allergy or intolerance to some kind of food, and the alcohol is making me react to the food. Is that possible? I have been tested for a gluten allergy and do not have it. I wonder if it is worth going to see an allergist.
