advair

Avatar n tn New strategy,no matter what you may have heard,aLABA,such as the one in Advair,is not your only option.mild asthma,an inhaled corticosteroid such as flovent is often all you need.Still wheezing, patients can also consider an inhaled corticosteroid paired with a leukotriene modifier.Hope this helps you,and doesnt worry you.
Avatar n tn I am usually on prednisone, albuterol, advair, and an allergy pill---none of those are working either. I cannot sleep throughout the night because I wake up gasping for air. I cannot excercise let alone take a shower and brush my teeth without being exhausted due to shortness of breath. I am 30 years old, 150 pounds, 5 ft 6 in. I developed asthma at age 13. I had a surgery at the age of 6 wks old called Total Anamalous Pulmonary Venous Connection. Please please if you can help-----HELP.
Avatar n tn t work very well, then we went to ADVAIR, which the insurance company encouraged me to change her from because it was so insanely expensive and now she is taking Dulera (which I think is working better than ADVAIR was) one puff each in the a.m. and p.m. and then using a rescue inhaler when needed for the exercise. Her asthma is controlled, now, however, she has REALLY started shedding her hair and it is freaking us both out. This could have actually started back when she was on ADVAIR too.
Avatar f tn It sounds like the Advair is doing its job. Clearing your throat could also be from the advair or could be phlegm from your quit.
Avatar m tn My ability to taste started to come back within about a week of stopping the Advair. I went back on the Singulair and found it not to be a problem. Three weeks after stopping the Advair my sense of smell returned rather suddenly, over a couple of days. It came back in sporadically, like suddenly I smelled the chicken I had cooked, then could not smell anything again that day.
757137 tn?1347196453 The FDA has issued a stern warning concerning the use of Advair. Not only can it worsen asthma, but the side effects can be fatal. Other forms of treatment should be sought and, if the product is used at all, it should be for short periods of time. Advair affected my adrenals, harmed my eyes, and worsened my asthma. It caused such serious choking that I feared it would kill me. I stopped taking it last August and am doing fine on natural anti-inflammatories.
1425157 tn?1311651679 I had a horrid cold and it turned into a nasty dry hacking cough that lasted months s doc has said a reactive asthma has developed from it all--out me on the advair diskus,,however--i also get ectopic heart beats ,anxiety and episodes of heart pounding--so i have 2 questions 1--can the only symptom of asthma be this cough and tight chest 2-is it safe to take advair as right after my 4 th ever does tonight i got forceful heart thudding and anxious -so far 30 in dunno if it is the med or me
Avatar n tn I also most certainly do not intend to take Advair regularly as I would believe it would weaken me further. Not to mention... it costs $125 a month.
Avatar f tn I was tested for allergies 10 years ago, and the tests showed allergies to dust mites. I controlled it through environment. The symptoms I was having at the time (sneezing uncontrollably for hours in the mornings) went away, so I figured I outgrew them. Around the same time I had stomach problems and was diagnosed with acid reflux. I took meds for several years and then went off when the symptoms went away.
Avatar n tn Have and virus and trying not to have to take antibiotics & so far I'm ok just tight and lots of mucous. I began taking advir 2 puffs twice daily & guiafenasen DM but after 6 days I'm better but still having thick mucous good color but chest is tight, any suggestions?
746512 tn?1388807580 If you are having troubles with your ventolin not working .... don't be stupid like me. Get a new one and see if it helps. I found out mine was completely empty last night when I woke up last night in an attack and the ventolin didn't work very well. Why does the advair have a counter on inhaler and ventolin doesn't?? does not make sense to me!
Avatar n tn My fev1 was 56% pre and went up 24% post. My pulmo put me on Advair 250/50 twice daily. In the beginning it made me feel better but now I have constant side affects. I have dealt with thrush I don't know how many times and I always wash my mouth out and make sure that i drink something afterwards to clear the residue from my throat. I have charlie horses all the time or leg cramps in my feet and my legs. I eat bananas daily to keep up on my potassium.
Avatar n tn thank you for the feedback. I have not taken prednisone at all, my brother went off Advair a few months back so when this bruising became so pronounced it was the first thing I thought of. I am going to get the blood work done but am also going to talk to my asthma doctor about getting off the Advair.
Avatar f tn Is it safe to stop taking Advair cold turkey when my symptoms improve or do I need to take something else to come off it slower?
Avatar f tn I have been cautious about creating any sort of quick, drastic, pressure change in my mouth but now, I wonder about the use of my Advair diskus. I take Advair on a regular basis for asthma and have refrained from using it in the 24 hours post-extraction because I figured the quick inhalation may dislodge the clots. Now, however, it has been two days post-extraction, and I wonder whether it is safe to use Advair without risk of dislodging the clots.
Avatar n tn I have had asthma since I was nine years old, and I am now 42. I CAN NOT take Advair, it almost killed me. Not all asthma medication are good for every asthmatic. In my twenties, Serevent started to cause me problems and I had to stop taking it. A few years ago, my asthma got out of control, and my new doctor prescribed me Advair. Every time I took it, it impaird my breathing dramatically. Thank God my doctor changed my medication.
Avatar m tn The daily meds keep the inflammation in the airways down, so I would think that tapering off the meds as long as the asthma is not necessarily under control would not be a good idea! I understand the desire to be off the meds, though! Who wants to take all that nasty stuff?! A few questions: Has she been tested for allergies? If she has not, that would be most worthwhile. Knowing your triggers can help prevent attacks.
Avatar n tn Reactive airways disease (RAD) is another term for asthma that is used when the problem is not clearly asthma. Has there been a differential for asthma or RAD. To know for sure if the symptoms are due to asthma you will need to have testing done. Generally testing starts with a simple breathing test called spirometry. This respiratory test provides detailed information about how his lungs are working. It will show if there is obstruction of the airways.
Avatar m tn I was wondering if anyone has experienced or heard of what I call "conversation-induced" asthma? I have seen a bit of information on laughter-induced asthma and suffer from exercise-induced asthma but can't find anything about asthma that comes on from simple talking. I usually begin to feel chest tightness and hoarseness if I am talking for more than 5-10 minutes. I begin producing mucous and albuterol does offer some relief.
Avatar n tn I have had several problems with advair such as thrush and irregular heart beat. Also, my endocrinologist suggested that my osteopinia (sp?) could be related to advair use but it's just one possible culprit. I'm a runner and just finished a marathon and got thrush again from advair so decided I wanted to at least take a break from it. Well, it's been a few days and I have never had such breathing problems before I used advair, I have a constant headache and I'm exhausted.
Avatar f tn I have fitness induced asthma, and my doctor put me on advair or something like that. And the next few days after taking it, I got really bad chest pains when I'd run. Has that happened to anybody else? Should I worry?
Avatar f tn My husband is also on Spiriva and Advair. He also has a recue inhauler. They are not working as well as they use to. I agree with mary59az, use of O2 may help with the breathing. Are you a diabetic? If so, your sugar level may be low, and you may need a boost. Try to eat more protein foods to boost your enegry level a bit. I know your illness only gives you limited mobility. I hope you feel better. I'll stop by again to check on you. May god bless you and watch over you..
Avatar f tn t really tell if Advair was making a difference or not. I informed my pulmonologist who then prescribed me Advair 250/50. However, pharmacists were saying that Advair didn't seem necessary. Instead they recommended a scheduled dose of albuterol everyday. I have stopped Advair after the first month and my breathing or rather, shortness of breath neither improved or worsened for the two weeks. However, another two weeks later, I feel that my breathing is worsenening a little.
