advair

Hi, I have asthsma and use Advair. I have heard about some potential worrysome side effectsd and it's damm expensive. Does anyone have a better choice for controlling asthsma?
I'm just trying to help and see if i can find her any relief. Does anyone know anything... She has done breathing treatments and is on advair.. anything else that we could do...
My mother has had a double mastectomy and found stage 3 breast cancer. She has had all clean tests since the mastectomy and she is doing okay that way. She refused chemo and radiation as well as Hormone pills etc. No treatment other than mastectomy. She has been having increasing problems with her asthma and breathing and I'm concerned, the doctor says that it's just because she is a smoker and her asthma is just going to get worse. I am aware that she should quit but I can't make her quit.
I have been diagnosed with adult on-set asthma and allergies and take Zyrtec, Singulair, Advair (100/50) and Flonase. Yet I can't get my chest/shoulder to stop hurting. I am veru concerned that it is lung cancer that is not showing on the X-Ray. What are the chances that it is lung cancer? If it was causing chest/shoulder pain wouldn't it be large enough to show on an x-ray. Any suggestions on what could be causing this?
it first appeared in the Sternum and they think it may be in the colon as well. He has COPD and they have him on oxygen but when we talk on the phone he coughs almost all the time. He is on Advair 250/100, Hydrocodone APAP 10/325 .. is there not any other medications that can be given to help calm the cough down? He just finished radiation for the Sternum and he's getting ready to start Chemotherapy. He's hoping the chemotherapy will help with the cough. Will it?
Have been in a watchful waiting stage for 6 months as my m-protein (cancer marker) has showed up and continues to slowly rise. I'm now in clear relapse pattern. Treatment will likely be induction chemo with multiple drugs, then a second stem cell transplant but we hope to delay starting treatment as long as possible since for the most part I feel fine, no myeloma issues. Though I feel ok, I have developed multiple autoimmune issues after my Autologus Stem cell transplant.
I am 45 and have been treated for Asthma which has worsened with age for the last two years. I take Singular, immunotherapy allergy shots, Advair, and for a brief time Quvar. In August I started taking Omalizumab. At my physical in October I was found to be anemic. During a colonoscopy that followed a tumor was found which was thought to be early stage. Dec. 15th I had a partial colonectomy around the ileo-caecal valve and liver resection.
She had a CA125 of 8000 (yes, you read it right). She had surgery and chemo (Taxotere and Carboplatin)and when she finished chemo in March 2005, her CA125 was at 6. Eight weeks ago she a CA125 of 13 and two weeks ago her CA125 jumped up to 26. Her CA125 test has a range of )-21 as opposed to the more common one which is 0-35. She is now out of the normal range and her CA125 has doubled as well. The doctor does not seem to be concerned.
I am a 50 year old woman with CLL, diabetes and COPD., My CLL is considered indolent.Stage 1-2 . Over the last 5 months I have steadily developed increased pain and stiffness symetricly in my hips and elbows. Sometimes in my hands too. It has become debilitating. My RA level has come back very, very high. and I'm now on painkillers daily. Is this a sign my CLL is transforming into something more aggressive? Or a new thing ?
I don't wheeze -- it feels like something is squeezing my chest and bad pain in forehead. Doctors just gave me Advair and other cortisteroids. I recently received two independent reports showing asbestos all over my apartment (airborne and dust), including HVAC system. One 'testing' company said it was a safe level of asbestos since the hi-concentrations are located in 'inaccessible areas' such as on top of my furniture or behind my bed (serious). Is this true?
I am on Advair 500/50 2 times am and 2 times pm and prednazone... it had been 3 months of this and my chest still hurts ! I am concerned about taking steroids for so long and so much! long trem how could this hurt me ?
Of course when I google Swollen hands and shortness of breath etc I get something like a cancer that someone has had etc. I am also a nurse and know that self-diagnosing is not good.. My hands sometimes go down in the swelling by the end of the day and alsoo the shortness of breath may or may not go away with the inhaler. This inhaler I have had for a while d/t exercise induced bronchospasms. I also had an episode over the Christmas Holidays where I had almost a kind of Pluerisy.
I have asthma and GERD. I am on Advair, Singulair and Combivent. It seems when my GERD is out of control my medications and even my inhaler do not work as well. Are medications not as effective for GERD-induced asthma? Thanks for all the help you give to everyone on this forum.
I went to the Pulminoligist and he had me get a chest CT scan and put me on Advair. The CT showed a 5mm spot on my lung as well as a swollen gland in my armpit area, the gland measured 1.4 cm. I am 40 yr old male and a former smoker, I smoked for 18 yrs.The pulmonoligist says it it not cancer but he will have a few more CT scans done to make sure. Also I have chronic sinusitis with all the symptoms including sometimes heavy nasal drip.
was given antibiotics, steroids, advair-condition has worsen. He can not climb stairs or walk far without being out of breath. Tire easily. Onc does not seem to address issue. I requested records. 11/09- PET CT hypermetabolic mediastinal and hilar adenopathy , small righ pleural effusion, numerous ill defined noncalcified pulmonary nodules , CT -solid appearance ground glass, airspace disease.
Moreover, I am concerned that this chronic gastritis and acid reflux may increase my risk of cancer or lead to other more serious problems. Thanks ANY advice or speculation you may have.
The little one weighs about 1/2 of me but man is he strong and fast. He loves the snow! The older one who has cancer still enjoys it too! have to help her when it gets really deep since her hips aren't to good now. She still trys and we still play but she weighs in at 100+ lbs and she is a very big girl so its hard for me to pick her up if she would fumble! With no power last nite they kept me warm!
Have yet to pick this up as I am also on an antibiotic and Advair Inhalers and a cough syrup and worry about mixing all these meds together. Babara, I too am saying Novena's, etc. etc. No such help yet :-) I find that belching can trigger a few. I find that coughing can trigger a few. But, it is the ones that do not stop that drive me crazy and occur right out of the blue. Arthur, you seem to be very knowledgeable in this area. What is AF, that you mentioned? Do PAC's cause AF?
I too have the shortness of breath and feel the need to yawn to get a good breath. I have allergies and am also on Advair and Singular which helps with my allergies but doesn't do anything for the shortness of breath and cronic yawning. Is anyone else on Singular and Advair, could that be causing this? I am going to also try the salt thing but if anyone has any input as to why this is happening I would love to know!
I have been told it could be GERD also, but have been on nexium, protonix and they too don't fix it. I am currently taking advair daily and have albuterol for little attacks. These do not fix the problem and barely make it better. I will keep trying to get an answer, but feel it is an ongoing problem that isn't being fixed. I know this doesn't help, but if I figure something out that does, I will post it. If anyone figures something out, please do the same.
Went to the hospital twice with breathing problems. Was given a chest x-ray and told it was not pnemonia or lung cancer and that it was viral. Needed to take inhalers. As I was a 1/2 pack smoker I then proceeded to quit which I have since done. First time at hospital, was given antibiotics for about 5 days. Didn't help. Down the rode ventured to my own doctor and she listened to my chest wheezing and gave me 10 days of Biaxin which also did not help but made me feel miserable.
i quit smoking 3 weeks ago - have had shortness of breath and a tight chest. For around 18 months I have also had chest and back random aches and pains. Previous CXR'S have been clear - stress test, echo of heart and ECG are all normal. GORD has been discounted, I did show a mildly elevated rheumatoid factor in blood tests.
I was told by my PCP (primary care physician) that it was likely inflammation and would go away within 6 weeks. It didn't, I went back in April and was told that if it hadn't cleared by May, the Dr would put me on an inhaler. May, coughing became worse - dramatically so at night, night sweats, some throat pain, sleeploss due to incessant cough. Late May. follow up X-ray showed no change, other than confirmed appearance of calcification. Was prescribed an Advair discus.
I also have scalp psoriasis and wondered if anyone else has this problem. I am not diabetic, no heart disease, no cancer (not that I know) and have general good health. I am on Advair twice a day and use the nebulizer occasionally during the day. I wondered if it was wise to use Curcumin supplements for inflammation in the body. Any info. would be appreciated on this.
My asthma normally doesn't bother me that much because im on advair diskus 250/50 and im taking albuterol for my rescue inhaler. These always seemed to work but recently they've not been working AT ALL. My symptoms are: a dry, persistent cough, very short of breath doing simple things like making the bed and eating/brushing teeth. I have moderate persistent asthma and I even went to the doctor three days ago.
Except I started out with bleeding. And a chunk of somthing soft and mushy came out with the blood. I went to the doctors and I have a blood bliser with an abrasion. But I have also been having direa. So I am going to the dcotors tomorrow. Hoping it has no connection. It's possible you have the same. If so you need some creme prescribed from a doctor. Also clean it out with half water and half paroxyde until and during. Hope this helps you. It's scary. I know. You'll be in my prayers.
But they are great at pushing tests and prescriptions and we all know why. My lung HMO quack never caught my bad reaction to Advair (which was literally killing me). It took my private doctor to put things right.
5 mg the first month, 3 mg the next month, and 4.5 mg thereafter. For life-threatening conditions such as cancer, the recommended dose is 4.5 mg from the outset. To quote Dr. Lenz: The reason we suggest a stepwise titration [for MS patients especially] is to AVOID SIDE-EFFECTS. Three years ago, we found that EVERY PATIENT WHO STOPPED TAKING LDN BECAUSE OF SIDE-EFFECTS STARTED AT 3.0 MG OR HIGHER! There was only one patient who started at 1.5 mg who stopped because of side effects.
I delevoped a cough (along with chest pain) and fever which turn into Pneumonia in April. The cough never cleared up and chest xrays showed a mass in my upper left lobe which was cancer. I had a lobectomy done May 30th which was successful margins and nodes clear and am recovering nicely expect for the dry cough and chest pain. This cough is different from the pneumonia its dry but the tightness in my chest is the same.
My GP suggested a reactive airway issue and prescribed Advair 100 twice a day. Three weeks later, with no improvement in the sensation, a dry cough developed. GP prescribed Advair 500, Singulair, Combivent QID. No improvement after another week and now I have severe nausea in the morning which goes away by about noon. GP wants to go with Predisone regiment. I have no real trouble breathing, just the sensation, though GP reports hearing some wheezing (I hear none).
