had my gallbladder out 7 weeks ago. felt fine the first two weeks and ate everything i wanted. then problems started and dctr said it was acid reflux. put me on priolosac and gained 4 lbs. the first week (on a low fat diet and eating nothing practically) Then tried without it on apple vinegar pills and beano before meals. had some relief but not all the time. monday he put me on aciphex and i had severe headaches and sweating, but it cleared up acid reflux right away.

My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.

Which, incidentally, stopped when I stopped taking the aciphex. Shortly after taking the aciphex I started experiencing symptoms of GERD. I still have the GERD to this day - some days its worse than others. I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?

Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.

I have been vomiting on and off for 6 months. For a while, It was happening daily. I saw a GI doctor who did an Endoscopy and didn't see anything. He put me on Aciphex, which helped, but I still vomit and or gag atleast 1x a week. I am not pregnant. I do have type II diabetes and PCOS. Anyone else sturggling with this kind of situation?

Since then I am taking Acid suppressants such as Nexium and Aciphex as prescribed by my doctor. I also underwent Endoscopy and Biopsy, Abdominal Ultrasound, X-Ray and Blood test . All the tests came normal except they found H-Pilory infection and I took antibiotics and subsequent Stool test for H-Pilory showed negative. I am still having all the above discomforts which is going on for 5 months. I normally eat very healthy and I am following a strict diet since this problem started.

Has anyone tried Zegerid? So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?).

I have been belching almost nonstop for nearly two months and also have substernal pain which my doctor has diagnosed as GERD and started me on Aciphex. Unfortunately, the Aciphex does not seem to help at all and I have been taking antacids without much relief either. I have noticed on this forum that an H.pylori test might be indicated and I am going to suggest that to my doctor.

I was diagnosed with silent reflux on 2/6/08 and prescribed Aciphex. The ENT diagnosed the reflux through an endoscopy I think it's called...he threaded a fiber optic camera through my nostril and down my throat. He said my throat was swollen and red and that I had vocal cord nodules. I had no symptoms of GERD and went to the ENT because I had a near constant feeling of throat contriction. A previous Barrium swallow showed no GERD.

Well I'm 7 months that means I'm 27 weeks and I have only gain 1 pound my midwife said it was OK 4 me to not gain weight bcz I'm over weight so u girls tell me it seems like I won't have to do a lot of weight loss. How far are u nd how much you gain?

told no I am not fine, one area no concern, other area metaplasia, was I still taking the Aciphex. I have gone back on the Aciphex but am terrified after reading on websites that I did the wrong thing. Endoscopy only done originally because I had still unexplained/diagnosis following three days of diarrhea, cramping, dehydration. On antibiotiic, H pylori ruled out. History of GERD, hiatal hernia. Control symptoms with diet, OTC Gaviscon.

You gain the most weight in the last 8 weeks. So you might barely gain now, and then pack it on fast toward the end which is normal.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'm 36weeks pregnant and since my last doctors appointment I haven't gained any weight. I didn't gain weight in the 1st trimester due 2 sickness, but in the 3rd I've been pretty steady with my weight gain...at the very least a poun a week. So my dr says my weight gain is fine. He said 1 pound per week along I am.. So I am 32 weeks and I have gained 31 lbs... Does that sound like a lot?!? What has everyone else gained? Or is that a horrible question to ask everyone?

I haven't gain that much weight but I'm pretty sure I was at least 7 to 10 pounds over weight before I got pregnant.... I'm 5'3 so i think i should weight a little less..... maybe 125lb Before I had my beautiful baby girl (now 25 months) I was working out a lot and I was feeling good ...lol I went down to 128lbs and that when my hubby decided that it was time for another baby ..... I don't even know how or when did It happen.... :(.

I believe that prevacid can cause weight gain ..seems so many babies are now diagnosed with reflux we used to call it cholic and wait for it to pass now seems they put them on meds.Still your doctor would know the answer, I think its the meds and whilst you child ius on them he may gain weight.good luck once he is off the meds he may go down to a normal weight.

I needed those words of reassurance thank you :) I was all worried because medhelps tracker showed that I was at a way high weight gain. So do you think I won't gain any more weight for a while then since your 16weeks and have also gained 10lbs?

I was around 137 pre pregnancy and am now 151. Is this a normal amount of weight gain and how much more weight is normal??? I feel like I've gained so much since some women don't gain any.

Talk to ur dr about ur weight gain or lack of. Your baby is getting plenty of nutrition as long as your taking ur vitamins and eating your fruits and veggies. Good lucky honey.
