Aciphex and stomach pain

Common Questions and Answers about Aciphex and stomach pain

aciphex

Avatar n tn My husband is taking Aciphex for reflux, yet he continues to have stomach pain, not hearburn. He has recently had an upper GI and nothing was found. Nothing he takes orally helps the pain. What should he do if the specialist can't find his problem.
Avatar f tn I am just wondering if the 2 can be related.. took pepto bismol last night and that seemed to help the stomach pain a little, but not completely... thanks for input!
Avatar f tn pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.
Avatar f tn I am so sick of going to all the GI offices and the hospital who keep telling us that nothing is wrong with her and that she has a small Hiatal Hernia that has nothing to do with her burning sensation and her stabbing right above the stomach and her nausea. A couple of days ago my wife was admited to the hospital for burning stomach and nausea and sure enough they found nothing.
Avatar n tn 5 months ago I started having bloating, heaviness in stomach, nausea and Gas. Since then I am taking Acid suppressants such as Nexium and Aciphex as prescribed by my doctor. I also underwent Endoscopy and Biopsy, Abdominal Ultrasound, X-Ray and Blood test . All the tests came normal except they found H-Pilory infection and I took antibiotics and subsequent Stool test for H-Pilory showed negative. I am still having all the above discomforts which is going on for 5 months.
Avatar f tn In the past two weeks I have had something going on that I'm not quite sure what it is. It starts with a swirling in my sternum area which turns into a twisting type cramping. This leads to headaches, dizziness, fevers that go up and down and acid (I'm on 20 mg aciphex - 2 x daily) that races up my throat due to vomiting that causes my throat to swell. It is something that comes and goes.
Avatar f tn They put me on aciphex and did a gastoscopy , finding just an irritated stomach lining . Ever since then I have had nothing but tons of epigastric pain and into my back . They switched me to protonix 40mg twice a day but I have minimal relief . Also had my gallbladder removed about 4 yrs ago . Any ideas ? Please Help !!!
1711242 tn?1308266891 then started having digestive issues with it like burning at first then severe stomach pain from taking antibiotics it rip my stomach to pieces, everything i ate i felt so much pain no matter what it was... i don't have H pylori. i was diagnosed with acid reflux gastritis and hital hernia.. i was told the hernia wasn't big enough to affect my breathing... my left lung feels affected and that's where i have had the acid pain mostly..
193988 tn?1215023883 Question on that, and the answer may be blatantly obvious, but here I reveal my ignorance of basic chemistry: is neutralized acid corrosive to the esophagus? Or is it painless BECAUSE it's no longer corrosive?
Avatar m tn I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
Avatar m tn I'm sure they have, but have they done tests for heicobacto pylori, celiac disease, gluten or wheat sensitivity? Which particular bllod tests have they run? What exact area of your stomach hurts and what tyoe of pain- cramping, stabbing, burning, etc? If it is the upper right quadrant it could be more related to the liver or bile ducts. Have they checked that ? I'm guessing that you have been through trials of Aciphex, etc.? Do you still have your gallbladder?
Avatar n tn I've recently been diagnosed with Fructose intollerance. Of course I am in denial and shock at the same time. My gastroenterologists' nurse called to give me the results and in the same conversation said she would send me info. and told me to talk to a diatician if I have questions and sent me on my way. Here's the thing....I started having 'symptoms' of bloating and constant burping about 3-4 months ago.
Avatar m tn The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) removed one third of my esophagus and one third of my stomach. While at UAB they discovered I had HCV. I have been on acid reflux medication for over ten years--- Prylosec, Aciphex, Nexium at different times. All work well, preference was dictated by my HMO. This will be a life long treatment for me. In July 2008 I had a follow up endoscopy and got a clean bill of health---no Barrett’s--no cancer. I am HCV 1a, tested virus free at week four.
Avatar m tn This caused severe pain, bloating and diarrhea. Although those symptoms are gone, whenever I eat anything coarse or spicy it causes irritation. This starts a couple of minutes after eating it and continues as the food makes its way through my GI track. The only thing that relieves it is to take a laxative and flush it out of my system. It has been getting progressively worse, and now my diet consists of mostly whey, brewer’s yeast, milk and yogurt.
Avatar n tn I drank a lot of self made wine for several days (sometimes on empty stomach too) and one day, along with overeating with a lot of grilled and spicy food, I got this strong heartburn and burning sensation along my esophagus and stomach that lasted for three days (20th – 22nd of Jan). I stopped drinking and after that the heart burn was gone except for a strange feeling (like something is stuck in the throat/esophagus).
Avatar f tn When my sciatica was so bad my doctor gave me prescription strength naproxin (which is Aleve) and because of how hard it is on the stomach gave me Aciphex with it (similar to Prilosec). Good luck!
Avatar f tn I've had continual discolored stool (yellow, green, orange, black) for years along with daily movements anywhere from 3-6 times. This has been quite "regular" for me but when asking doctors about this they say it is normal or disregard my concerns. However, I do not feel that it is "normal".
198506 tn?1251156915 he threaded a fiber optic camera through my nostril and down my throat. He said my throat was swollen and red and that I had vocal cord nodules. I had no symptoms of GERD and went to the ENT because I had a near constant feeling of throat contriction. A previous Barrium swallow showed no GERD. Now I am having cramp like pain under my left rib cage which is relieved somewhat when I lie on my right side as opposed to my left. And the pain extends to my left flank.
1744042 tn?1311261168 I have been on Omeprazol 40 mg a day and finally after 10 days, my severe stomach pain and Gerds seems to be going away. And along with that, I have not had my pulses race with Hyperthyroidism from normal of 60-70 to 120- 140 and once about a month ago 160. I am a nurse, have a daughter that had Graves disease, and thought I knew a lot about thyroid disease, but I have never heard of it being connected with either stomach pain after eating/ probable ulcer, or GERDS.
Avatar n tn t afford AciPhex, the discomfort is constant, the pain occurs frequently enough that I have trouble falling asleep, etc. I just figure if there's a surgical procedure {maybe performed like an esophagogastroduodenoscopy PLUS}, THAT might be more sensible than the rest of my life on AciPhex or whatever the next new drug is .........................
Avatar n tn He put me on the Aciphex to control my stomach acid, and the Domperidone for the motility. I am on Lexapro for anxiety and depression, and have had anxiety problems for two to three years now. 2) I would also like to mention that my girlfriend and I did wait until her yeast infection symptoms subsided to resume sexual activity. 3) I also had several kidney stones that I passed in July of 2008. Do you think I could possibly have more kidney stones?
Avatar m tn The burning is quite consistent, and I also have a bit of bloating and slight gas feel in it too as I will get subtle type of gas pains. I went to my regular Dr. a few days ago and he put me on Aciphex. I've been on it for abou 4 days and so far I'm getting nothing from it, although he did say to give it a week. The only thing that does give me relief for 10-12 hours is Zantac (although it takes about 2 hours to kick in it seems).
Avatar n tn again just before clearing my bowels i begin to feel some sort of movements in my upper stomach and it just below the esophagus . it also continues after i have cleared my bowels then it settles down.
Avatar m tn along with increased belching, gurgling stomach and lots of undigested vegetables in my stool. I was on aciphex for years because of gerd but was switched to dexilant for gastritis. I have had the belching and gurgling for about 4 months and the upper stomach pain for almost 2 months. i am very regular with my bowel movements (once a day) so i dont see how it could be ibs.
Avatar f tn t rely on any blood tests which only test for general levels of Cobalamin and not Methylocobalamin and the lab ranges are far too low. Without intending to sound like a conspiracy theorist, PPIs are probably the 2nd highest grossing class of drugs with 10s of billions of dollars in annual sales, to patients, most of whom DO NOT need to take them!
Avatar m tn had mylanta and prilosec and the situation got improved.. doctor recommended aciphex and currently i am on that.. situation seems to get better but at times, the condition that I have something stuck in throat and a little difficulty to swallow flares up. Got a sore throat a couple of days back. but now it is better. feeling weak and has muscle pains occasionally.. any ideas? should i expect improvement only after a while? currently i am on the 15th day of taking aciphex...
Avatar m tn The bile first refluxes from the duodenum into the stomach and then into the esophagus. Acid might make the esophagus more prone to damage by the bile salts. Many patients with Barrett's have minimal symptoms but must still be followed because there is a 10% risk of progressing to cancer. Close surveillance should give adequate warning to allow intervention to prevent the degeneration to cancer. The key finding is whether or not "dysplasia" is seen in the "metaplasia.
