Aciphex and stomach polyps

Common Questions and Answers about Aciphex and stomach polyps

aciphex

Avatar n tn I think I need to work on the acid reflux and stress to get the SVT/PVCs under control. I had an Upper GI scope and it showed hiatal hernia (same as before) and polyps in stomach (probably from the reflux med.) They did a biopsy on the polyps but I've not yet heard. Do any of you have GERD that aggravates your heary rhythm.
Avatar n tn Just to add to yesterday's reply to your question. Your question got me to thinking. I wrote a letter to the gastro-doc who took over for mine who took his practice out of the area.I asked if they still had my records from the endoscopy, briefly explained that I had had stomach polyps and a "slight" amount of Barretts and asked if it would be time for a recheck. I think whether they have the records or not, they'll contact me and maybe want to check.
Avatar f tn I've had continual discolored stool (yellow, green, orange, black) for years along with daily movements anywhere from 3-6 times. This has been quite "regular" for me but when asking doctors about this they say it is normal or disregard my concerns. However, I do not feel that it is "normal".
Avatar f tn pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.
Avatar n tn My husband is taking Aciphex for reflux, yet he continues to have stomach pain, not hearburn. He has recently had an upper GI and nothing was found. Nothing he takes orally helps the pain. What should he do if the specialist can't find his problem.
Avatar f tn I have for the past 10 years been on Aciphex 20mg for to much acid in my stomache, I was at 4 times the normal amount but now I have about 7 times to normal amount I have been taking 2 aciphex pills in the am and 1 in the evening. When I had my last scope I also had alot of irritation and alot of stomache polyps. I have latlely been having alot of diarreha about 2 hours after I eat and I'm generally not feeling well.
Avatar n tn 5 months ago I started having bloating, heaviness in stomach, nausea and Gas. Since then I am taking Acid suppressants such as Nexium and Aciphex as prescribed by my doctor. I also underwent Endoscopy and Biopsy, Abdominal Ultrasound, X-Ray and Blood test . All the tests came normal except they found H-Pilory infection and I took antibiotics and subsequent Stool test for H-Pilory showed negative. I am still having all the above discomforts which is going on for 5 months.
Avatar n tn I think there is a difference between bowel/colon polyps which should be removed, and benign stomach polyps caused by PPIs. I was diagnosed today with a stomach polyp and told it was most likely a result of long term use of a PPI (in this case Pariet). Does anyone know if benign stomach polyps develop into something nastier, grow bigger, can be reduced by diet, or changing PPI med?? Thanks This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn On June 9th he had an endoscope and which showed that his stomach from top to bottom is full of polyps. There were sever biopsies performed and they came back non cancerous but the Dr. said that he would not attempt to do surgery on my husband because he would have to remove the whole stomach. What if any other options does he have? Will the polyps eventually develop into cancer?
Avatar n tn ve found thus far says that stomach polyps are more common in people age 60+. I am 21 years old and just had a fluoroscopy done on Friday. It came back negative for what my doc was looking for, but the nurse called me yesterday to tell me that they found "several" polyps in my stomach. I'm having an upper endoscopy done on Monday. I was just curious to see if anyone else had, had stomach polyps at such a young age?
Avatar m tn i have increased belching mild reoccuring RUQ discomfort and gurgling stomach (really bad in the early morning hours) for about 5 months this bothers me the most also lots of undigested vegetables in my stool (this symptom ive had for years). Ive lost about 15 lbs during this time. I was on aciphex for years because of gerd but was switched to dexilant for gastritis. Ive recently stopped taking the dexilant and am trying bentyl 4x a day but so far no changes.
Avatar f tn I just had a endoscopy and 10 polyps were found in my stomach. They were biopsied but I haven't hear from them yet. I have been having problems with GERD. Do I have anything to fear? And what is the difference between polyps and tumors? This discussion is related to Tumor.
Avatar f tn somebody tell me this is not serious... I have panic attacks really easy and I have already had 1 yesterday and today because my stomach right in the "pit" under my rib cage is hurting, tender to touch, feels hard and the pain is radiating towards my back.. with sharp intermittent pains in the lower back and flank... severe nausea, but no vomiting... yet... freaking me out! help!
Avatar m tn I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with a lazy gallbladder. My doctor's suggested taking it out, although I don't (yet) have stones. (Gallbladder issues run in my family.) I was also diagnosed with GERD and LPRD. I've been treating it with PPI's and while most of the heartburn and stomach pain is gone, the pain in the throat and the clicking have gotten worse.
Avatar f tn I am so sick of going to all the GI offices and the hospital who keep telling us that nothing is wrong with her and that she has a small Hiatal Hernia that has nothing to do with her burning sensation and her stabbing right above the stomach and her nausea. A couple of days ago my wife was admited to the hospital for burning stomach and nausea and sure enough they found nothing.
Avatar f tn We are here to help but please know the best source of information is your own doctor. Stomach polyps in general are not terribly common and typically produce no symptoms. Your gastritis is probably separate and this was found when looking into that. Please know that most stomach polyps do not become cancerous. Your polyps could be basically because of the chronic stomach irritation from the gastritis. Here is information on stomach polyps. https://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar n tn I started in 1992 when I discovered the polyps and removed the colon, had 1997 perforations and fistulas and more, almost died that time during operation just like him with respiratory failure and all for 5 days and not able to come back, 9 weeks no food other than IV, had a miracle on the 7 day and had been fine since then with no more complications, had gastric polyps that they used to call just gastric polyps until just now, this last month my polyps have gone crazy, my stomach is now innum
Avatar n tn Hello...I have recently had an onset of stomach problems, which I believe (but don't want to self-diagnose) to be related to stress and worry about some other recent health issues concerning my blood pressure, but also very possibly related to recent usage of Astelin antihistamine nasal spray and Benadryl capsules.
Avatar n tn again just before clearing my bowels i begin to feel some sort of movements in my upper stomach and it just below the esophagus . it also continues after i have cleared my bowels then it settles down.
Avatar f tn t rely on any blood tests which only test for general levels of Cobalamin and not Methylocobalamin and the lab ranges are far too low. Without intending to sound like a conspiracy theorist, PPIs are probably the 2nd highest grossing class of drugs with 10s of billions of dollars in annual sales, to patients, most of whom DO NOT need to take them!
Avatar m tn had mylanta and prilosec and the situation got improved.. doctor recommended aciphex and currently i am on that.. situation seems to get better but at times, the condition that I have something stuck in throat and a little difficulty to swallow flares up. Got a sore throat a couple of days back. but now it is better. feeling weak and has muscle pains occasionally.. any ideas? should i expect improvement only after a while? currently i am on the 15th day of taking aciphex...
Avatar m tn The bile first refluxes from the duodenum into the stomach and then into the esophagus. Acid might make the esophagus more prone to damage by the bile salts. Many patients with Barrett's have minimal symptoms but must still be followed because there is a 10% risk of progressing to cancer. Close surveillance should give adequate warning to allow intervention to prevent the degeneration to cancer. The key finding is whether or not "dysplasia" is seen in the "metaplasia.
Avatar n tn I've recently been diagnosed with Fructose intollerance. Of course I am in denial and shock at the same time. My gastroenterologists' nurse called to give me the results and in the same conversation said she would send me info. and told me to talk to a diatician if I have questions and sent me on my way. Here's the thing....I started having 'symptoms' of bloating and constant burping about 3-4 months ago.
Avatar m tn Hello and welcome to MedHelp's forums. That's a very interesting question. The usage of PPI's or proton pump inhibitors, a class of drugs used to decrease stomach acid has grown over the years substantially. Speaking to the doctor that has prescribed the medication you are on is important and your best source of information. Generally, there are links to these medications with use of PPI's, you are correct.
Avatar f tn Refused surgery and changed diet. another ultrasound recently and my gallbladder polyps have gone and i only have one 3mm gallstone.i am now left with a well distended gallbladder with thinned wall.Do i need surgery because my gallbladder is swollen or can it return to its normal size. Thank you.
Avatar f tn My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.
Avatar f tn Abnormal Endoscopy—showed stomach polyp and eosinophils (eosinophil account did not meet criteria for Esophagitis diagnosis. • May: Barium swallow—Normal. • July: Gastric emptying study—Normal for Gastroparesis; suggestive of possible dumping syndrome (written of by GI). Aside from the tears above, the only other abnormal result is from an IBD panel—an excessive number of these antibodies are found in people with Crohn’s Well, anyway, here I am at nearly 9 months.
