My wisdom teeth have been coming in for a year now and my wisdom on the bottom left hurts really bad and there is a bump that formed over night on the gums next to my wisdom tooth. What is it?

The abscess was caused by food that got into a pocket between his erupting wisdom tooth and gum (the gum got cleaned out). He was never unable to open his mouth or talk, so far no swollen lymph nodes or anything like that. His dentist originally said the infection was "minor" but I can't help but feel that it's a LOT more than minor if his cheek got irritated.

I had a wisdom tooth pulled and the night I had it pulled my cheeck was the size of a tennis ball, I went to the ER 3 days later and they said I had an abscess, im on antibiotics and I want to know if that will take the swelling away and if thats all I have to do or will I have to get it drained?

s got a tooth abscess in a healthy tooth and that the tooth should be extracted. He said it is unusual in cats and that they don't know the cause. He also suggested some antibiotics for a few days before the surgery to help with the infection. Just wondering if it is worth trying to save the tooth. Go through the course of antibiotics and see if he gets better. My vet made me feel like I was just being cheap and that conventional wisdom is to just remove the tooth.

Well I had my wisdom tooth pulled on Monday.It had to be the worst experience.After 2 1/2 hrs of grinding,pulling,pushing and cutting,the doctor gave up and had to send me to someone else.My appt was at 9:00 and I left at 12:30.The next dentist couldn't get me in until 3:00.By the time I got to that appt all the numbing shots wore off and they had to numb me all over again.That dentist took another 1 1/2 hours to get it out.

If it turns out that it is a tooth responsible for the abscess, it needs to be taken out as as the abscess is completely gone. Don't wait or the abscess could come back worse.

No, not cancer, at least not likely. But getting those wisdom teeth out, takes a while to clear any infection where the roots of the teeth were. I don't know why the dentist said "no" to that, because I think a little infection is going on in the tissues around the pulled wisdom teeth, maybe even an abscess.

It sounds like you may have an infection, it could be due to a wisdom tooth or a bad tooth. It may possibly be an abscess, you need to go to the emergency room you may need antibiotics. Left untreated you could have worse issues.

Hi! I'm brand new to this website & forum, but I was researching this issue for a friend of mine just last night. Sounds like you have an abscess forming thus the "white bump". The tooth itself will have to be taken care of eventually but the abscess is an infection that needs to be taken care of NOW. Any dr/er/dds can prescribe you a round of antibiotics, which will help with the pain and inflammation alot.

Hi. I have been having upper mouth pain for about 3 days. There is no abscess or infection of my teeth. I went to the dentist 3 weeks ago and was given a clean bill of health. I went to the dentist today and he said he is not sure what is causing the pain. He took a bunch of x-rays, but could find nothing wrong. He said it's not a cracked tooth, cavities, or an abscess. I have already had all my wisdom teeth pulled. Sometimes the pain is also referred to my lower jaw.

If you feel them then u need to check ur teeth for abscess formation, periodontal pockets or wisdom tooth infection.

removed again 6 months ago. At the time the dentist thought the tooth beside where the wisdom tooth was extracted was the problem until I made him xray the wisdom tooth area because I could feel the chip next to the other tooth & the gum kept swelling up. That same area he cut open to remove the tooth chip healed nicely until it swelled up again 2 months ago to form a very tiny insignificant abscess on the gum which I popped & thought nothing more of until now.

I have very large teeth, I still have my wisdom teeth. When I went in (about 10 years ago) to have my abscess treated I was told that I needed to have my wisdom teeth pulled since my mouth was overly crowded and if I did not then I would continue to have problems with abscesses and pain. I did not follow through and have been abscess free with only occassional pain from time to time.

I had my lower right wisdom tooth taken out on approximately 2 weeks ago. The flap is healed, the stitches have fallen out or dissolved, and there is no pain in the area. However, my cheek (on my jawline) is still swollen and puffy (not hard, just puffy), as are the gums around the extraction site and the tooth adjacent to the extraction site. When I brush around the wound, the wound itself does not bleed, but the gums beside it do bleed (minimally) and I'm scared.
