Abilify with zyprexa

Common Questions and Answers about Abilify with zyprexa

abilify

Avatar f tn abilify is the only one I can think of that is not known for wieght gain
Avatar f tn aripripazole (abilify) and ziprasidone (geodon) are 2 other atypical antipsychotics like your olanzapine (zyprexa). nobody neither your pdoc can tell their effect on you, it's all trial and error everybody manifests different effect and side effect. he/she only prescribed them to you because they don't make you put on weight gain contrary to zyprexa, that's all.
Avatar m tn I am on 7.5 mg of abilify (morning), and 2.5mg zyprexa (night), which I've been on for a couple of weeks I'm finding the mix better than just the 7.5mg of olanzapine I have been taking previously for 6 years due to the fact I can actually get up in the morning now! I recommend these doses. I would like to know side affects of abilify..ie sex drive, sense of humour, weight loss? And can I use paracetomels with this mix? And green tea slimming pills?
Avatar m tn Will Abilify help me adjust from tapering off pain medicine while at the same time , removing the zyprexa, and deal with my anxiety and bipolar issues? I cannot remain on anything that makes me as tired as zyprexa or seroquel anymore, it’s not helping with the major depression.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever tried Lithium, Trazodone , Abilify all together? If so how has this been for you?
Avatar m tn Yes all atypical antipsychotics have the potential of weight gain although Zyprexa has the most potential for this side effect. Risperdal and Abilify are also available in rapid dissolve format and Abilify has less of a potential of weight gain although each person responds differently to each medication. The mood stabilizer Lamictal is available in rapid dissolve format as well.
497950 tn?1255863927 I am bipolar I with mixed episodes. (Also with rapid cycling :) fun stuff...) Has anyone tried any medicines that didn't cause weight gain and didn't cost a fortune. I am on Abilify right now but I am very quickly going to have to change because my insurance isn't that great and it cost me $100. I am on Neurontin and Celexa right now which is great but I can still feel myself going up and down all the time.
1257808 tn?1322762215 If the food cravings happened with the Zyprexa it just might take a while to go away. Just remember some meds do cause food cravings even though they are not listed under side effects. Everyone is different.
739988 tn?1386672969 I myself gained 35 pounds when I was on Zyprexa. Abilify the least likely but it still can happen. The antipsychotic agent I am on in Phase II FDA study won't do this but it hasn't been studied for mood stabilization yet and I need a mood stabilizer as well. Out of the mood stabilizers, Lithium and Depakoate are more likely to cause weight gain than Lamictal so Lamictal might be one viable option.
401554 tn?1270213756 I am on Zyprexa 2.5 mg for depression. It has practically cured me but my heart is beating out of synch all the time now. I was diagnosed with a harmless heart arrhythmia a year ago and the Zyprexa is making it much worse. My cardiologist and psychiatrist said it was nothing to worry about but I'm scared. Risperdal also had the same effect, too. I tried Abilify but It made me way too jittery. Has anyone else out there experienced this?
Avatar n tn d say right now with my knowledge as a consumer, Abilify is the safest as an antipsychotic and Lamictal as a mood stabilizer and I will post a link once the glycine study in me is published which should be soon but here's the official study for more information: http://www.schizophrenia.com/research/javitt.htm And a list of all new medications in development: http://www.psychmeds123.info/ An educated consumer is actually an asset to a psychiatrist.
1714202 tn?1352672419 Hey all, new to this page. I've written in the alcoholism part before. Anyway, I've recently been diagnosed with bipolar 2 which I've assumed for years! I'm on abilify, lamictal, celexa, and ativan. I'm constantly fidgety and results, and can't concentrate on anything at all right now! There's more too but those are the most annoying right now. Am I still manic or is this side effects from my medication? Any advice would be helpful.
Avatar n tn The rash side effect of Lamictal can be fatal so thank goodness you are okay. I had not heard of the diabetes with Zyprexa before, I would read the fine print on your med insert for sure. I wonder what Topomax would do for you or possibly Abilify which has fewer side effects, especially in the eating department. Ya know we are unfortunately part of the pharmaceutical rat race and often times doctors have more experience with one med or another due to what the drug reps are pushing.
Avatar n tn thought she maybe Bipolar weened her off Prozac and put her on Abilify. Total disaster very bad reation after only 1 day. Stopped that went back to prozac for the last 1 1/2 months or so. She has just started showing strong signs again of manic and obsesive behavior. Dr.s thinking prozac has backfired. She's been very agitated, angry, compulsive, crying, not knowing what's wrong or why she feels like she does. Even wanting to die. Four days ago took her to ER for eval.
3122467 tn?1342138836 I have akathisia from Abilify. To deal with it, I take a beta blocker, propranolol, and it works beautifully. Not only does it take care of the akathisia it also treats anxiety. Once i ran out of propranolol because it hadn't arrived from the mail order pharmacy and the akathisia came back so I know two things... I still have it and propranolol stops it.
202665 tn?1248806733 I was on Geodon for about 3 years. About six months of overlap with Zyprexa at the beginning - it took forever to get off of Zyprexa - and almost a year of overlap with Seroquel at the end. It was a good drug in general. I remained relatively stable the entire time I was on it, but still experienced significant sleep problems. Eventually tried Seroquel because I had already been on all of the others (I had problems with Abilify, too) and it tends to have more of a sedative effect.
Avatar n tn my son take 7.5 mg of abilify in the morning and 15 mg of zyprexa. when abitatlify started to take. he is talking to himselff. is it bad . is it induced psychosis. he was on zyprexa -. foe 5months. not much omprovement. how long it take to get better with these combinations.
Avatar n tn I've been taking zyprexa for almost 6 months and am still suffering side effects. I get blurred vision and fogginess which makes it hard to concentrate. I'm sleepy all of the time and could fall asleep at my desk if I could. I've had bipolar disorder for 10 years and have never been sleepy all of the time. In the past, prior to this medicine, I've always had troubles sleeping. Does anyone else have the same problems as me?
Avatar f tn I first took Geodon. As I have been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder which was originally thought to be schizophrenia, I experience psychosis all the time regardless of my mood so I take antipsychotics for the psychotic aspect of my illness. Geodon worked better for my positive (hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, etc.) symptoms and not so great for my negative (loss of pleasure, lack of affect, lack of motivation, etc.) symptoms. Abilify works better for my negative symptoms.
Avatar f tn You know the drugs cause weight gain sometimes but they may not cause it in you. I attended a bipolar support group and everyone who was high functioning said they would choose weight gain over illness any day. I know it's not a fun thought, gaining weight but there are things you can do to control the amount of weight you gain-IF any. I take Abilify and I haven't gained any weight.
Avatar n tn Hi! I take abilify and trileptal and have no gained weight from those two. Hope this helps! Also, Zyprexa for me was super bad on the weight thing. I gained 20 lbs! Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn t usually come with weight gain, and may be a good option for you. They come with a higher risk of movement disorders, but the more I read about the metabolic risks with the AAPs, the better the first generation ones sound.
Avatar m tn ve takin medicines like zyprexa and abilify but those just made me get hallucinations. Please help me I am seeking for solutions that I can work on.
Avatar m tn I am so sorry to hear you're having problems. I completely understand because I have had similar problems with meds in the past. I would suggest talking to your doc and asking for a change in meds or see if there is another drug that you can take in addition to combat the mood problems. I take 100mg of Pristiq and 2 mg of Abilify.
