774805 tn?1235948571 I am on Abilify (Aust) it is not on the list anyone know what the US name is?
Avatar f tn After years of continued difficulty with bouts of depression, anger/irritability, sleep, I saw a new doctor in 2015 who prescribed Abilify 5mg along with Adderall. He mentioned that he thought I continued to have issues because of the Prozac but did not officially give me a diagnosis. I immediately saw the benefits. However, at the end of 2016 I went through a severe bout of depression and discontinued the Abilify.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever tried Lithium, Trazodone , Abilify all together? If so how has this been for you?
Avatar f tn Seroquel is an anti-psychotic medication. Yes, in most people it does make them very sleepy. 14 hours a night not abnormal for someone taking Seroquel if they are sensitive to it or new to the drug. May I suggest asking your P-doc about Seroquel XR. It is an extended release formula of the drug and should be easier for you to tolerate. Many people report that after switching to the XR formula that they can take it during the day once they get used to the drug.
Avatar m tn has anyone tried to wean their patients off taking abilify and try alternative measures?
Avatar m tn However in my opinion I will go ahead and tell you that you may ask your dr about a mood stabilizer like Abilify. Anything that has a good half life and helps you get some good sleep.
Avatar n tn I went off Seroquel and tried Abilify and one other (cant remember) but they did not work. I am now backon Seroquel 300 miligrams along with my Lithium and Pexeva. I feel like it doesnt work as well as it did the first time. I went up to 450 with Seroquel, but I am just way too sleepy. Does anyone know a drug that works well with Pexeva and Lithium? My biggest problems are racing thoughts and anxiety when I am off of the Seroquel. Help!
Avatar f tn Hi I have recently been diagnoised with bipolar disorder and given the medication ariprprisole and beta blockers. I cant tell you how edgy i feel. My doctor took me off prozac too. I cant relax or sit still and im still not sleeping. Can anyone give me any advice. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Yea, Abilify is actually just another anti-psycholtic medication, but it is marketed in a much different way. Abilify has been marketed in a very agressive way. So has Pristiq and Cymbalta. All drugs that I have found not to work for me.
390140 tn?1219883889 Has anyone experienced stuttering as a side effect of taking Abilify? If so did the stuttering resolve eventually or did you have to go off the medication? Did anyone ever seek speech therapy for stuttering related to Abilify, and if you did, was it helpful?
Avatar f tn just started taking my abilify again.....does anyone have any suggestions for me? a different med than abilify or a way to get a good nights sleep? i am desperate! please help me!
873773 tn?1257560602 I can't give you medical advice, just would say I'm not sure losing one's father is a reason for additional drugs unless you're really not functioning at all. When you lose a parent, it has to be hard, don't want to suppress grief. Let yourself have the grief. But again, I don't know how bad the depression and anxiety were. Was it losing your father that caused the medication you're on to stop working?
Avatar m tn I tried Abilify with my antidepressant. After a few months on Abilify, my anxiety was actually worse. I noticed that the Abilify caused me to be agitated and restless (like I couldn't get confortable or sit still, kind of jittery) Abilify is really ment more to aid in the treatment of depression than it is anxiety. It's designed to be used as an antidepressant add on drug to give a bit more antidepressant punch rather than an anti-anxiety punch. Bad idea I think.
Avatar f tn I have been recently diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and am currently taking the medication ABILIFY..... i have noticed lapses in my memory and difficulty concentrating. Also i can't shake the lethargy either. I am just concerned with the quality of my life because the side effects of my medication are really affecting me. The reason i have continued on this medication is becuase it is one of the only antipsych medications approved for adolescents according to my psych doc.
526901 tn?1216334227 This is provided Abilify helps you, if not, I would see about switching too. Geodon is in the family with Abilify and it works fast too, like within a couple weeks. Just a suggestion. Good Luck, I know how frustrating it is finding the right medication. I've been on over 47 kinds of meds over the last 10 years. Cymbalta was another one that helped my panic attacks, I went on that after being on Prozac for 8 or 9 years. It works faster than Prozac but slower than celexa & lexapro.
Avatar n tn my dr changed me from abilify and serquel to trazone and saphris. i was ok for about 3 days then started to feel sick, nausa chills muscle aches ect ect. i don't think it was a virus. but my question----can you have withdraws going of one type of meds and going on another that is simalar. i think going off serquel cold turkey and abilify is what did me in or maybe side effects from the new meds. i took the old meds yesterday and not the new ones and already feel better.
642393 tn?1227032656 I went to the doc about an hour ago and he gave me effexor and Abilify i know nothing about it could you plz tell me about it? are they any side effects? Does it help and how long does it take to start helping??
Avatar m tn Ive taken every antidepressant and mood stabiliZER over the years, and often my psychiatrist would say that he was adding a medication, such as he did recently with Abilify, to boost" the performance of my other meds. I would have to say that I am very satisfied with the results. I feel much better, have more energy and no suicidal thoughts, and I attribute a great deal of that to my current medication regimen, which includes cymbalta, lamictal, luvox, abilify, trazadone, clonazepam.
20003388 tn?1515166040 I know that, at least most, antipsychotics reduce the effectiveness of stimulants due to their dopamine blocking properties. Rexulti, like Abilify, is actually a partial dopamine agonist as opposed to a dopamine antagonist. How would a stimulant work in conjunction with a partial dopamine agonist like Rexulti? I am prescribe the Rexulti for depression/anxiety in conjunction with Prozac and Cymbalta. The Vyvanse is being added to treat my severe ADHD, I am the mostly inattentive type.
Avatar f tn Are you saying you were put on Abilify before you were put on Celexa? Because if you've only been on Celexa a few days, Abilify wouldn't be appropriate. It's only a last resort medication because of its side effect profile and because it isn't known to work by itself, only in combination with another med. If, for example, you have depression, and you're on medication and its helping but not quite enough and you've tried everything else, that's what Abilify is for.
585414 tn?1288941302 Only a psychiatrist would suggest specific medication changes. Its just a new option for people as regards antipsychotics. Abilify works in a manner somewhat different from the other antipsychotics and Saphris was based on Abilify (Serotonin-Dopamine agonists) so it should have a similar side effect profile of having less sedation and less of a potential for weight gain and diabetes (though all current antipsychotics can cause this).
Avatar f tn Have you had these symptoms checked out by your GP? Abilify does cause shaking and tremors, and just because your psychiatrist hasn't seen these side effects doesn't mean they aren't being caused by the Abilify. I doubt the Abilify is doing much to help you, it's rare to get this many years out of one medication as our bodies build up a tolerance to these types of medications.
Avatar f tn Hi Emmy- Its recommended that Abilify not be used with any sedative type medication because it will increase it's properties. Do you know why the doctor prescribed this? Abilify is an anti psychotic medication. I would be concerned about taking it myself without methadone! Read up about it and then speak to your doctor once more OR get a second opinion. I think Abilify is tossed around too much and has the ability to "zombify" the world! Just my opinion...
Avatar f tn s reccomendations and did afterwards do great research on his own (I believe the medication was Abilify but of course he could not provide greater details for confidentiality reasons) on the side effects and beneficial effects and did inform the people directly in an appropriate manner. That said an educated consumer does get the best response so it is always good to understand more about your treatment.
918275 tn?1254068752 my knowledge that abilify is activating, however every individual reacts differently to the same med. so the only way out is to ask again your pdoc. ask him if he can consider lamictal. Those are the only 2 meds i know of suitable for depression except the AD which is usually harmful to BP as they worsen mania and bring a lot of complications.
642393 tn?1227032656 I just got Abilify about an hour ago my boyfriend is getting it filled now does anyone know anything about it Does it help? any side effects? By the way i don't think i am bipolar but it is for depression and my mood!! thank you all!!
