Avatar f tn I am 30 weeks pregnant and suffering from nasal congestion, cough and chest congestion- any recommendations for safe meds while sick?? Thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn I use Benadryl (non drowsy) almost every day but when my allergies are out of control I use Zyrtec. If I have congestion, I use Sudaffed.
Avatar f tn Need advice, anything to help the congestion. My nose has been stuffy for a good two weeks. I have awful allergies, so I've been taking zyrtec. After that didn't help, I talked to the doctor, they told me to take mucinex and sudafed. Took those and still stuffed. Took antibiotics thinking it was an infection and I received no results. I am 5 weeks pregnant since yesterday and wondering if it has anything to do with the pregnancy.
Avatar m tn I experienced congestion, cough, and laryngitis a day or two after exposure to large amounts of hay and agricultural lime. Taking this into consideration, I'm a bit skeptical as to whether or not it was a cold or just an alergic reaction. The symptoms have drastically decreased. My nose is still half-way stuffy, and I'm still spitting up white phlegm, but it's more of an annoyance now than anything else. Some people I've talked to think that it's post-nasal drip.
10843549 tn?1425096623 Took generic medicine for zyrtec, allergies DM, for about 1 week 1/2. Felt better and thats what pharmacist recommended.
Avatar m tn I had turbinate surgery two weeks ago. Now i still have congestion, snoring, loss of smell/taste. Dr's Office said take Zyrtec, this isn't helping. What should i do? Is this nomal? Maybe i need a 2nd opinion.
Avatar f tn Tylenol is safest for aches and pains. And as far as the congestion im not sure what is safe to take. Usally if you call your o bgyn and ask them what is recommended they will let you know.
Avatar n tn I am 20 weeks pregnant and am getting a sinus infection, I know Zyrtec D works but i dont know if im allowed to take it! Will it harm baby if I take Zyrtec D???
Avatar f tn I get sinus infections every time I have to take it for more than 5-6 days in a row for unknown reasons. Try actual Sudafed (the kind you have to sign for through the pharmacy) not the PE crap on the shelf. There is no better allergy medication than that. Hands down!
Avatar f tn Benadryl, Zyrtec, sudafed, claratin, actifed, coricidin, chlortrimeton,or Tylenol cold and sinus, Headache/Fever of 100 degrees of less: Extra strength Tylenol Insomnia caused by pain or fever: Tyleno PM Nausea and vomiting: Dramamine, vitamin b6,
Avatar m tn I'm not sure if anything can be done at this point, but I figure I should ask. This has been so constant that I almost forget it's unusual. For as long as I can remember I almost always have some congestion, and usually at least a mild sore throat. A year or so ago I finally went to an ENT, she said I had alergic rhinitis and prescribed fluticasone. 6 months later I went back because I still had constant congestion and usually a sore throat.
Avatar m tn The primary symptom of rhinitis is a runny nose along with sneezing, watering of the eyes, congestion of the nose and itchy nose, throat, eyes, and ears. You are right in saying that steam inhalation is beneficial in rhinitis. Along with steam inhalation, you can take nonsedating antihistamines like cetirizine (Zyrtec) or loratadine (Claritin). Moreover decongestants and topical decongestants may help in reducing congestion of the nose.
Avatar n tn Could stopping zyrtec about 4 mos ago and starting omeprazole about 3mos ago cause ventricular arrythmia eg bigeminy? Could a histamine reaction cause this type of arrythmia?
1646392 tn?1333251893 I am 14.5 weeks pregnant. I have had problems with congestion since 8 weeks. Since about 11 weeks, it has been unmanageable. I have done sinus rinses, nose strips, sudafed, benedryl at night, vicks rub, and zyrtec. I can get about two hours of sleep at night before I wake up with my nose running and nose clogged. My husband has started sleeping the guest room because I keep him up at night. I tend to go through a roll of toilet paper blowing my nose in two to three nights.
Avatar f tn What do u take for allergies? My dr said I could take Claritin but I'm scared to. Have a bad runny nose, itchy watery eyes, sneezing. What would you do?
Avatar f tn For your congestion you can take claratin or benedryl. You cant take nyquil. You can take tylenol pm but make sure its not the rapid release kind. I would not take all of these together. Pick one to take. Hope u get some rest.
Avatar f tn ve had a sore throat, nagging cough and really bad congestion for almost a week. To top it off I just woke up with pink eye yesterday. So I have prescription eye drops for that. I've been taking Robitussin which doesn't seem to be helping the other symptoms at all. Does anybody have any baby safe remedies?
10366239 tn?1409616907 I tried it for a couple days and it helped my nasal congestion but not my headaches which was what I really wanted. If you're still unsure check with your doctor, but I believe claritin is fairly safe.
Avatar m tn t answer, but can sympathize with, congestion. It sounds like your problem is both congestion an drip, right? I have just congestion myself, but enough to interfere with my sleep. From a first reading the I note with specific interest the following. Nasal spray twice a day - what type? Afirin and that type can not be used every day, they can cause a worsening of the condition. Saline spray, I use that and also use a netipot irrigation.
Avatar f tn Okay, so I have been thinking I have a really bad cold, but I have no other symptoms, just a stuffy nose. It's so stuffy I can't stand it! Does anyone else get stuffy noses? What do you do for it? I read online use Saline spray since there isn't much I can take...any suggestions?!?
Avatar f tn Other treatment options include oral antihistaminics like benadryl and Claritin or non sedating antihistaminics like zyrtec; Topical or oral decongestants for rhinitis and nasal congestion; topical steroids for skin rashes and itching; oral steroids in more severe cases and bronchodilators in cases of difficulty in breathing and wheezing. These medications all help to relieve short term symptoms of allergic reactions. However, there is a way of preventing the long term symptoms of allergies.
Avatar f tn have had at the beginning of october alot congestion nose and throat and ear congestion cough and mucus that would not come out the doctor said it was allergies so he told me to take zyrtec and flonose nasal spray and prescribed me amoxicillin 250mg 3 x a day for 15 days and took allegraD and it help a lil only till it wore off so im still not feeling better and am desperate to be better i have a two yr old. .i even tried the nasal irrigation and not better..
Avatar f tn Until u can see a dr for pain you can take Tylenol, for ur throat chloriseptic, nose congestion saline nose spray, cough and chest congestion robitussin. Also get in a warm steamy shower and if you can find them get something called shower soothers. Its made by vicks. You put it in the shower and the water melts it and releases vapors. (Cvs carries them for sure) benadryl and sudafed can be taken as well for runny nose. good luck and get well.
Avatar f tn Nasal decongestant drops too relieve congestion. Please consult your primary care physician for further evaluation. Regards.
Avatar f tn The embryo is fine, it is happily floating around in your uterus and it doesn't feel a thing. Nasal congestion is very common. We can't take the usual cold meds in the first trimester. I use Sinus Rinse, it is drug free and i find it to be more effective than many decongestants. You can also breathe steam and drink tea. If it is allergies making you sneeze, zyrtec is safe in the first trimester.
5025679 tn?1363541501 I have seen THREE doctors in the past 2 weeks concerning my tongue and left ear pain/congestion that comes and goes throughout the day and I have had the ear congestion for months... I got used to it. 3 weeks ago my tongue started having this burning/tingling sensation that got worse as the day went on. so my dentist put me on prednisone. after day 4 the burning went away but the tingling was constant.
