I took my dosage and quit hookah. 3 days after the steroids had ended I woke up in the middle of the night with the left side of my tongue swollen. I went to the emergency room and they put me back on steroids and benadryl again. 3 days after my steroid dosage had ended my hand and foot only on the left side started swelling to the point I couldn't walk. Got put back on steroids and zyrtec and some antacids.

Does anyone know if you can grow resistant to antihistamines? I've been on Zyrtec for a year and feel like it doesn't work as well as it used to. I know that I have more allergens around me but would think I still should be getting relief. I spend at least $100 a month trying to get some relief. I'm thinking with nothing working I should just save myself $100:) the only time I feel someone what better is taking Advil Cold and Sinus, the Zyrtec seems to do nothing......

Benadryl is safe, but just a normal dosage and it's better to wait until after your first trimester to take meds...

My doctor said I culd take Zyrtec as long as I wanted, so far for the past 3 Weeks ive taken one everyday

He probably will increase your dosage but never do this on your own, follow his instructions. They normally will start you out on a low dosage, see if it helps, and if not they either increase it or switch medications. Always work closely with your doctor on your medications. Take care.

Tylenol is unveiling new maximum dosage instructions for paracetamol or acetaminophen in the US. The new instructions state a maximum total daily of 3,000 mg versus the old maximum of 4,000 mg. Additionally, it states to take the over the counter dosage every 6 hours instead of every 4 to 6 hours. These new instructions seem to be specific to their over the counter products not prescription medications.

but my hubby is allergic too and we have 5 cats. He takes Zyrtec for his allergies and it helps him completely. I realize everyone is different though and it really depends on the severity of the allergies. We started feeding out cats a better food (not the stuff you buy in any grocery store or pet store) and since then they do not shed as much and so hubby's allergies are not as bad either. Good luck!

I also take my Zyrtec at that time. I just started the probiotics and was taking them with breakfast but have read that they should be on an empty stomach. That's my only real empty stomach time because of all my other stuff so now I'm concerned about them interacting with my thyroid meds. Anyone?

I am writing it off from the Zyrtec, I felt like I could pass out at anytime exhausted and dry mouth from the Zyrtec. I will be sticking to Claritin. Anyone find these issue get worse when its really humid and hot out? I try to keep hydrated but palps even increase during the summer?

10mg every day for the first five days and then every other day for the next five, in addition he gets a generic Zyrtec everyday. Now he just gets a zyrtec every day, and if his allergies act up beyond the zyrtec's control, like this time of year ,he gets a prednisone per day for 3 or 4 days and then every other day for two or until things calm down. Zyrtec can be expensive, but we actually found a generic brand at the dollar store! $1. for 14 pills, so we clear their shelves!

my mother (77yrs.of age) has been taking 10mg lexapro for general depression and body aches. Today, the physician said he wanted to give her something that would make her feel more "perky" and changed her script to 150mg Effexor. The instructions are to take 1 pill/day and to stop the lexapro. From my reading it seems that these meds should be weaned.

Have you tried claritin? I started using that to combat my allergies with perfume, but found that zyrtec worked better. I'm not sure about other allergy meds though, have you tried nasal sprays? Benadryl knocks me out in seconds so I understand not wanting to take it all the time- have you tried using the tablets and cutting them in half? I found a 1/4 of the adult dosage works well enough on reactions my Zyrtec isn't good enough for without causing excessive drowsiness.

NOTHING I take ( Allegra, Claritan, Zyrtec, etc.) helps at all, and I cannot take the week off (due to the fact it IS the busy time of year!) Any suggestions on what I can do???

Here I am again 8 months later. Started having anxiety attacks and was prescribed first Xanax then Ativan. Noticed when taking 3 times daily that the tingling and numbness all but disappeared. Then got on a web site that gave me many, many side effects of anxiety. Among 10 pages numbness and tingling were listed as side effects of anxiety attacks. Can't quite get everything right, but have noticed that if I drink more than one coffee or ice tea, I have breathing problems.
