Avatar n tn **PLEASE READ** I've suffered for almost 2 decades with chronic post nasal drip and bad breath because of it. I'm currently 26 now and the last 2 weeks I went on an anti candida diet where I did not consume sugars/carbohydrates to kill off excess yeast. I ate lots of raw garlic with my foods. That still didn't help with the post nasal drip or stinky mucus. I read more on this site and someone wrote about grape fruit seed extract mixed in with a saline spray...
Avatar f tn If you have chronic sinusitis then it can lead to continuous production of mucus and less drainage leading to post nasal drip. Transillumination test and X-Ray or CT sinuses can help in diagnosing it. If allergic rhinitis is the cause of PND then it can be diagnosed by skin ***** tests or blood tests like RAST. Take plenty of fluids throughout the day and inhale steam as many times as possible. .
Avatar n tn I have had post nasal drip as long as I can remember. I am a 52 yr old mail, 5'9", 195lbs. My PND gummed up the back of my throat enough in July of this year to wake me everytime I nod off. I am now on sleep medication, clonazepam, Lunesta, now but which is barely working, Atavan is better and I can sleep but sedatives cannot be taken forever and this PND doesn't seem to be going away.
Avatar f tn Hello, What you have is chronic post nasal drip. Post-nasal drip (PND) occurs when excessive mucus is produced by the sinuses. The excess mucus accumulates in the throat or back of the nose. It can be caused by rhinitis, sinusitis, or laryngopharyngeal acid reflux. It can be enhanced or sometimes even caused by allergies. Please check out with an ENT specialist if you are having chronic rhinitis or sinusitis.

Avatar f tn Hi, repetitive sneezing and nasal congestion with a post nasal drip and cough could be due to vasomotor rhinitis, in which the symptoms occur in response to a trigger, like eating spicy food or going outside in the cold. The primary treatment is simply avoiding the things that trigger your symptoms. It is often treated with a drying nasal spray (like Atrovent) and antihistamines like chlorpheniramine and loratadine are effective. Nasal decongestant drops too relieve congestion.
Avatar m tn Hello, Cough after cold in your case can be due to post nasal drip which is common after rhinitis or sinusitis. Post-nasal drip (PND) occurs when excessive mucus is produced by the sinuses. The excess mucus accumulates in the throat or back of the nose. The next time you get a cold, take plenty of fluids throughout the day and inhale steam as many times as possible. Inhaling steam from a bowl of hot (but not boiling water) may help to soften, and loosen, the build up of mucus in your nose.
Avatar m tn Suggested I try Claritin or zyrtec to see if allergies are triggering all of this. Claritin is helping a lot with the post nasal drip, but now the junk in my chest seems tight and I have a dry, unproductive cough. Should I try mucinex to loosen up the chest and continue with Claritin?
Avatar f tn I had a cough and congestion for about 3 weeks before the doctor was able to diagnose me with a sinus infection. He gave me 875mg of Amoxicillin-twice a day for 10 days along with ZyrtecD and Mucinex. I finished the antibiotic and one of the others at the same time. Two days later, I was still coughing--post nasal drip. I had finished all the meds so I bought some more Mucinex and started that again. In another 2 days I was still had post nasal drep so I started Claritin.
Avatar n tn I am a 20 year old male with a few questions about GERD. I have this constant feeling as if something is stuck in the far back of my throat and no matter what I do, I cant get rid of it. Ive also constantly been burping as well. I don't know if these two could possibly have anything to do with one another. Ive checked these symptoms and I also thought it could be post-nasal drip, but I'm not sure. I'd just like to know what I have so I can possibly get it fixed. Thank You.
Avatar f tn sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, post-nasal drip, coughing, sinus headache, and watery eyes Depending on the trigger, my seasonal allergies include watery eyes or itchy eyes, and especially post nasal drip, which was a huge problem for me when my allergies started in 2006. I went through a long period of post nasal drip, but no acid reflux at all.

Avatar m tn Hi and Congragulations to your sis for completing Tx. I also experienced that nagging post nasal drip and took the same combo as your sister. What really helped me was Claratin, but she should check with her Dr. before taking any meds prescription or non. Good luck to her on achieving SVR. .....

Avatar f tn I have had seasonal allergies along with dust, cat and dog allergies too since 30 years ago. I finally had 5 years of allegy shot ending aroung 2005, This year has been so bad with all the pollen I feel like I'm right back to day one. My eyes are itchy, my nose runs and my palate is so itchy. I take Atrovent for post nasal drip, aerius for the allergies and I'm also on Advair 250 discuss. Why is this happening after all these years? Will it go away or am I supposed to get shots again.
1137036 tn?1263515995 Also today I had a dentist appointment, she drilled and filled my cracked tooth, put on a temp crown (I am on phase 2 of a root canal on this tooth and part of it cracked off after phase 1), the raw throat and post nasal drip got worse. So I took some benadryl and it seemed to help. Plus I concouisuly stoped clearing my throat (and the raw throat started to feel better a few hours later), every time I felt the need to clear I would sip on tea, take a mint or just swallow.
Avatar f tn I have tinnitus and post nasal drip. I notice it mostly when I'm home. When I go on vacation the tinnitus is not noticeable and my post nasal drip eases up. Could the these be caused by allergies? Could they be something I'm allergic to either in my home or environment? I have had allergy testing for foods and air borne pollens, etc. I am allergic to dust mites. Could that be a culprit? I live in a fairly dry environment.
