Avatar f tn He told me to stop taking the zyrtec and ordered liver function tests. Well, tests came back with high enzymes and bilirubin and he told me to stop taking ALL medications. Ordered an ultrasound which he said was negative, and ordered the blood work again. He seems to think it's liver damage due to drug toxicity. Problem is, he doesn't seem to be able to tell me what I should be doing, other than not taking my meds, to get healthy again.
Avatar f tn I hope my question doesn't come out as confusing as it is in my head haha. I have tried to call my primary care dr. to ask this but she is out of town for a week and it's driving me crazy. A month ago I had some blood work done following a benign sinus tachycardia event. My liver enzymes were elevated as follows: AST - 48, ALT, 102 and ALP 314. I was also just shy of being anemic but she said it looked like my body was doing a good job trying to compensate.
1517808 tn?1290813790 I have the same condition. My general doctor referred me to an allergist/immunologist, and I was told that I have autoimmune urticaria (hives). I was prescribed an antihistamine (Zyrtec), Zantac75 (an antacid that also has "alpha blocker" properties), and Doxepin (an antidepressant that also has "alpha blocker" properties. Over time, I stopped taking the Zyrtec and Zantac. Now I am only taking the Doxepin. This seems to control everything pretty well.
Avatar f tn Zyrtec! I have been dealing with it for about a month benedryl only help for a few hrs but my doctor suggested to take zyrtec and it calms my pregnancy hives. My doctor said its just one more of those annoying pregnancy symptoms.
Avatar f tn I was told to take zyrtec. Now I have a rash on my upper thighs. Is it the generic zyrtec? Would the regular Zyrtec do the same? Have you ever heard of Diamox being prescribed for Meneire's disease? I find nothing in the literature about it and am hesitant to take it as it makes me very tired. I need to sleep about 3 hours a day when I take it. I don't want to experience vertigo again.
Avatar n tn Also have a history of liver disease/cancer (mother and maternal grandfather--unsure if primary or metastatic), diabetes (mother), and heart disease (both parents). Any idea what could be causing these symptoms?
519035 tn?1348275773 So follow up with the doc. I was put on 75mg of synthroid. The last two weeks were miserable by the way! I have candida outbreaks etc. I saw her today for my physical. She saw that the goiter was pretty enlarged.( I had my ultrasound, no cancer seen) I have to go back for more tests on tsh. She only wanted me to take 25 mg of synthroid today felt so much better, and then tomorrow start back up on 50 mg. My question is I gained another 15 lbs, since i weighed myself.
Avatar n tn Someone on here told me that I should take an antihistamine such a levocetrizine or cetrizine. I took 1 Zyrtec and I felt fine for a couple of hours but my arms eventually swelled up and started to itch again. I'm not sure if it just didn't work or I didn't take enough because the pill was only 10mg. I drank enough to become intoxicated but the reaction this time was not as bad as before.
Avatar n tn But before begining the treatment they did a liver function test and found that I have indications of NASH. I got an ALT score of 76 and an GGT score of 69. From as far as I can remember I have always been hyper sensitive to medications, low tolerance, etc. I am the poster boy for NASH: High blood pressure High cholesterol Taken High cholestrol pills 3 month regime of antibiotics overweight by 25 pounds The question is, if I need to take anti TB medication, how am I going to survive?
Avatar f tn Over the past 6 years I have been to 7 different doctors ( 4 immunologists, 1 geneticist and 2 rheumatologists). The consensus is that I may also have an underlying autoimmune disease, as numerous other illnesses (from food allergies, celiac sprue, h pylori, thyroid disorders, etc...) have been ruled out.
Avatar n tn t know of any problem with taking Zyrtec-D with Plavix. You can also read your medication leaflets with the medications to check or check with your pharmacist. If you are being treated for high blood pressure or heart disease/vascular problem, I would NOT recommend taking the Zyrtec-D WITHOUT discussing this with your physician.
Avatar f tn I am really trying to see if my sister's condition has anything to do with her being given this shot. Last time she was given it was April 2013, she is currently in the hospital fighting for her life!! So with all the warnings about if you have a liver disease you shouldn't be taking this shot and the doctors are advising her liver isn't functioning and for it to be as far gone as it is, if she had come to hospital a year ago they wouldn't have been able to do anything!!
Avatar n tn From doing researching on the internet, I think my little dog has Black skin disease. He is about 6 years old. He constantly scratches. He had fleas about 6 months ago and was treated by the Vet. Now he is fleas free but has small black patches on the skin between his leg joints and stomach area. The hair has become thin in these areas also. The rest of his skin is red and scaly.
Avatar f tn Autoimmune disorders Sometimes a body’s immune system may begin to attack the liver or bile ducts causing inflammation and scarring which leads to a progressive form of liver disease. Examples of liver diseases believed to be caused by the immune system are primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC), primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and autoimmune hepatitis.
Avatar n tn If your report says that your bilirubin is high, then you probably have jaundice (jaundice is the accumulation of bilirubin under the skin) and some type of liver disease that needs further testing and diagnosis. My two cents. Take care and God bless.
Avatar f tn I was going thru a bottle of vodka every 2 to 3 days. I started having discomfort in the liver area with nausea fatigue and dry mouth. Had an lft done all normal. Still felt sick and went to the hospital lft normal except elevated bilirubin ultrasound normal. Had another lft couple of weeks after bilrubin down to 1.3. And another normal ultrasound. I still deal with right quadrant pain fatigue and nausea.
1714226 tn?1308625105 Hi, my name is Patty and I am 29 years old. To say that liver disease runs in my family would be a huge understatement, for my grandmother, aunt, and my father have all died of cirrhosis of the liver. Neither of the 3 were alcoholics either. Since the age of 18, I have had routine checkups and blood work, keeping a close eye on my liver function and health. In January of 2010, I was diagnosed with gallbladder disease and had surgery to remove it.

Avatar f tn My daughter has been diagnosed with liver disease. She had hep c but that is now under control. She has developed varies in the aesophagus and these are banded every three months. She now has frequent nose bleeds and would like to know the significance of this. She had a drug problem and she also continues to drink alcohol in large amounts. What is the likely outcome of this as she does not listen to what I have to say regarding not drinking.
Avatar n tn God made the liver to be self replicating and self healing. You can lose half of it to disease and it will heal itself if you treat it right. Please "Google" liver and you will see how wonderful it is.
Avatar f tn He should be restricting sodium, taking medications to prevent ascites, varices, and hepatic encephalopathy, monitoring for liver cancer, restricting red meat, eating a liver friendly diet, and not drinking or taking medications that harm the liver. Obviously it is his choice whether or not to drink and whether or not to take care of his liver.
Avatar m tn Also only patients with cirrhosis of the liver are prone to liver cancer. Liver cancer is a very serious and many times deadly disease. It is one the worse cancers you can have if not caught early. An MRI with contrast is the best test for determining if a growth in the liver is benign or cancer. You should have a MRI perform assuming whoever is doing the testing is experienced in diagnosing liver cancer. Most radiologists are not experts in liver tumors so they can miss cancer.
Avatar n tn if you are 57yo you better consider treatment seriously and do all tests, cirrhosis and liver cancer jump to very high percentage after 50yo
