Zyrtec and itching

Common Questions and Answers about Zyrtec and itching

zyrtec

Avatar f tn Had been on Augmentin for a sinus infection, just finishing up the script, and take Crestor, Nexium, and Zyrtec on a regular basis. Symptoms started a few days after starting generic Zyrtec, which also caused unbelievable dryness that felt like I was dehydrated (no vomiting, though). A day after the chills, I noticed my urine was dark and my stools were very light, almost gray, and I started getting very itchy but no rash.
Avatar f tn started taking zyrtec, seemed to help a little but starts up again so i also started taking zantac along with the zyrtec. i am still getting some hives and itching but now for about the past 3-4 wks now i'm also getting nausea, please help!

Avatar f tn Has anyone experienced severe itching problems when they stop taking Zyrtec?
Avatar f tn I took one benedryl each day for about 5 days and the itching is gone and no more Zyrtec. However, the problem is runny nose and other allergies symptoms. Not sure what to do? I am definitely a nicer person when I take Zyrtec.
327369 tn?1326119908 It started with my hands and feet and then moved to the rest of my body. I took some zyrtec and it gets better but comes back. Now it is mainly my scalp and head/face. Just to say: I HAVE NEVER HAD ALLERGIES OR REACTIONS. I am 31 and have never had to take allergy meds. So..........I do not see this being the issue. I cannot understand where this is coming from. Even with my thyroid I never have had dry skin or itching. This is totally new. Any ideas? I am so itchy!
Avatar f tn I been itching during my whole pregnancy, I was using Cocoa Butter Palmer for itchy skin and it works a little, now then I'm 32 weeks the Dr allows my to take Zyrtec and it does help allows lot.
Avatar f tn It started with my lower legs. When I would shave and the hair would start growing back my legs itched terribly. I saw a dermatologist and decided to have laser hair removal to solve the problem. It helped a little but now it has spread. periodically I get hives(?) on different parts of my body. Now it is every day. If I don't take a zyrtec EVERY day I can't get through the day without going crazy with the hives.
Avatar f tn I am 4 weeks postpartum & have been having itching and rashes since delivery. I have always had occassional issues w/ itching and rashes my whole life. Very sensitive skin. Ocassional rashes when Ive used new bath products, etc. But since I delivered my 2nd child I have itching and rashes all over my body.
Avatar n tn Suddenly red bumps appear on hands and feet and skin has intense itching. Some times I have swolen lips. Could it be Hives? This problem appears during night time only. Taking Zyrtec provides relief, should I continue to take Zyrtec. Also it is now two weeks I missed my period. Though pregancy tests are negative should I continue to take Zyrtec. Would that affect my health if I am pregnant.
714275 tn?1295226265 I never had an itching like this before. It was as if the Zyrtec isolated the allergen and made it dormant within my body, until the medicine was out of my system. The first location was my tailbone area. I scratched until the skin was off. It will flare up in the same location for days, then it would move around. My hands and feet are the current locations. I usually take a Zyrtec and then I'm good for a few days.
Avatar f tn FYI the biggest improvement from the zyrtec/flonase is the itching has almost stopped. There when it got bad, I was breaking out in hives randomly and itching all over. That has mostly stopped as long as I take the medicine. The other things....not so much. Except the sneezing has stopped.
1517808 tn?1290813790 I have the same condition. My general doctor referred me to an allergist/immunologist, and I was told that I have autoimmune urticaria (hives). I was prescribed an antihistamine (Zyrtec), Zantac75 (an antacid that also has "alpha blocker" properties), and Doxepin (an antidepressant that also has "alpha blocker" properties. Over time, I stopped taking the Zyrtec and Zantac. Now I am only taking the Doxepin. This seems to control everything pretty well.
Avatar m tn I bought my husband some Zyrtec and he has been taking one a day for a few weeks now and the itching is gone!
Avatar f tn I am 36 weeks and also have itching all over! I told my Dr about it and after testing it turned out to be something called cholestasis. It only happens in the 3rd trimester. Harmful to the baby so they deliver early. I don't want to sound scary but just make sure you check with your dr. Hopefully it is just itching! Good luck!
1672514 tn?1304512914 Last year I had the same problem. I layered Zyrtec and Benadryl. Zyrtec took care of my respiratory symptoms, but I was constantly itchy. The Benadryl stopped the itch. I liked the liquid versions because it worked faster. If this doesn't help try eliminating the Proactive. You may need to see a doctor at some point if you can't resolve the problem. Take care and God bless.
Avatar n tn Any remedies that help with the constant itching. My skin is getting dryer and dryer. I get it that itching doesnt help And very hot showers doesnt either. I put lotion on right after I get out. Help...?
689528 tn?1364135841 10mg every day for the first five days and then every other day for the next five, in addition he gets a generic Zyrtec everyday. Now he just gets a zyrtec every day, and if his allergies act up beyond the zyrtec's control, like this time of year ,he gets a prednisone per day for 3 or 4 days and then every other day for two or until things calm down. Zyrtec can be expensive, but we actually found a generic brand at the dollar store! $1. for 14 pills, so we clear their shelves!
Avatar n tn Urticaria.Try cyproheptaidine 1 tab at bed time. You will feel sedated and hungry but the itch and rash will disappear in a week.
Avatar m tn For the last few months I have been breaking out in hives and itching, swelling (severe) espically when doing work or getting hot, possibly cold i am unsure, what might be causing this and what should I do or take. I have been taking benadrly but it keeps coming back.
Avatar n tn I went and seen a doctor about this and was told I have allergies, I was perscribed the generic for singulair for 10 days, and zyrtec for about 2 weeks to see if I got better. I opted to take the medicine at night (tonight)...and i can't sleep and my throat is so dry even after water. I really dis like medicine...I get anxious...what are some other options to feel better?... HELP!
Avatar n tn My doctor said it was fine to take Zyrtec as it has antihistamines in it and should help with the itch! Don't scratch!!
Avatar f tn I woke up yesterday with my right, top outer ear (front and back) being red, a little warm swollen and itching uncontrollably. I took some Benadryl last night and it helped me sleep, but it continues to itch like crazy! What could it be and what can I do to help control the non-stop itching? Thanks!
Avatar n tn The itching turns to minor pain a week or two later as the skin drys and stretches, almost with very tiny tears. Anyways, as I mentioned, it starts when I take Zyrtec and stops after that.
Avatar m tn Hi Friends/Community/Experts, 1. I am 25 years single male and I never had any skin problem until last month...It just started itching all over my body and I smoothly itch and itch and can't stop myself from itching.....I started to take Zyrtec for few days according to doctor's guidance.....It does not itch that night and until next day.....When I stopped medicine after 3 weeks, it started all again...uuuhhhh.....I went to doctor again...
478342 tn?1241369352 My itching started about 5 years ago. I would walk to school during the winter and the longer I walked and the more my body got heated up I would start itching uncontrollably all over my body including my face. Then there would be little bumps over me that I guess are hives. This happens every winter in to the beginning of Spring. I can't workout because I can't get hot thats when I start itching and my skin gets flushed red.
Avatar f tn As long as your dr gave the go ahead then I say take the Benadryl. I broke out in full body hives around 24 weeks and took Benadryl (just a half dose so I didn't get as much of that sleepy effect) and my dr told me Zyrtec was fine to take too since its a full 24 hours of relief. I'd say call ur dr and ask about the Zyrtec or even Claritin and if they give the go ahead, take that for during the day and the Benadryl to help sleep at night until it subsides.
