Zyprexa withdrawal side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Zyprexa withdrawal side effects

zyprexa

Avatar m tn The dose you took is relatively small, but it can still cause side-effects and withdrawal effects. Did your doctor prescribe this to you? If you are having trouble sleeping, there are many other techniques and medications that can be used.
Avatar n tn Severe depression can certainly make you feel like a zombie. The side effects might last for a while--I think it took a few weeks after stopping Wellbutrin to get rid of my dry mouth, but I'm not sure what the time frame would be for zyprexa. You should ask your psychiatrist (calmly) why she prescribed zyprexa for you in the first place. Explain that you just don't understand, and that you'd like more information. If she won't explain, get a different psychiatrist.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am experiencing burning feet, skin sensitivity and pains in my hands and feet during Zyprexa withdrawal,I`ve been on Zyprexa for 6 years and off it for about 5 months now. Please let me know if the burning feet and all other symptoms will go away with time? Has anyone quit Zyprexa successfully? Please help with any information, many thanks!!
Avatar m tn t stop taking your lamotrigine unless you talk to the pdoc first, just saying these are listed side effects. Lamotrigine is a really good drug for bipolar and side effects usually wane after a few months. Since you were only on Ziprexa for 4 months, chances are really minimal that any permanent damage was done. If you are not having movement related issues - smacking lips, drooling, etc. it shouldn't be anything permanent.
Avatar f tn Well back to your question I went off cold turkey since I was done with the horrible side effects and just figured out this was way to heavy of a drug and not necessary since I was never bi polar or schizophrenic. I was on it for about 2 years and I am sorry to tell you this but coming off it was the worst experience of my life. It was 3 months of hell and general thought is it takes 3-5 months to come back to normal off these drugs.
Avatar f tn (still dealing with it, right now i am suffering from severe sleep deprivation and some really wierd symptoms like confusion, memory loss, severe inattention, etc.....look up zyprexa side effects and withdrawal, it can do some really messed up stuff to you. But on the other hand, not everyone reacts that way.
5790942 tn?1374334321 My lower lip would tremble and go crazy even while talking. Scared me, since I then read that such side effects can be irreversible-permanent. I quit Zyprexa. I will say it again, this is not guaranteed to happen to everybody. But Zyprexa has recently gotten some bad press in Canada and parts of Europe. It is also a billion dollar a year top earner for the company that makes it. Some of my fingers tremble now, uncontrolled. Zyprexa, idk If you have just started Zyprexa, read up on it please!
Avatar n tn I've been taking zyprexa for almost 6 months and am still suffering side effects. I get blurred vision and fogginess which makes it hard to concentrate. I'm sleepy all of the time and could fall asleep at my desk if I could. I've had bipolar disorder for 10 years and have never been sleepy all of the time. In the past, prior to this medicine, I've always had troubles sleeping. Does anyone else have the same problems as me?
Avatar m tn Has anyone else experienced these problems and if so will I ever feel normal again post Zyprexa? I am still battling withdrawal effects while taking 2.5 but no where near as severe as they were when I was not taking any. I am fearful it is going to get worse again. When I stopped taking the medicine I endured 8 painful days and was devastated to hear that I needed to get it back in my system and wean down.
Avatar f tn ANY new medication can have side effects....and dizziness is one of the more common ones. However, anxiety itself can also cause dizzinesss...and with your history of trying so many meds and having negative experiences...you may have already decided in your mind that you would have problems with it. Finding a new doctor? Why? Why such a drastic measure? Why not just continue to communicate with your current doctor, and try to follow his instructions.....these meds DO take some time....
Avatar f tn s a recent chance you might be experiencing some withdrawal from the previous med while experience side effects of the newer med (they usually go away after your body/brain is adjusted to the changes). The medication can take up to 4 weeks to work so give it time and if you feel something is wrong report as soon as possible to your doctor.
5093508 tn?1390543931 t mean that this will happen on Zyprexa). I too, have looked into the side-effects of Zyprexa and find them disturbing, particularly for us older folks. I would ask to see the studies and protocols for the efficacy of this particular drug coming off of benzos. I also find it a red flag that your Dr. prescribed Ambien when you expressed a wish to wean off Benzos and Benzo-type drugs.
1030383 tn?1338460785 t stop taking your meds without your doctors approval because the withdrawal side effects can be worse than the meds. It can be extremely dangerous and you just shouldn't do it. If you think you need off of them, talk to your doc.
1030383 tn?1338460785 I'm withdrawing from Zyprexa, Abilify, Ativan and sertraline. It's been three weeks and I've had terrible nausea, stomach pain, fatigue, and generally not feeling good. How long will this last? And, any ideas on how to deal with mania since I can't just "knock myself out" like usual? I need to get enough sleep to stay out of the hospital!
603015 tn?1329862973 Insomnia is a withdrawal symptom of this medication. It would probably be best to get an appointment with your pdoc sooner; not sleeping is a major trigger for BP relapse. In fact, all of the withdrawal issues from any medications can kick the mood swings back in.
559058 tn?1215810834 m bp, been on Zyprexa for 5 yrs off and on, gained weight of course, and know that it has tons of other side effects. But I know Depakote is not without side effects either -- like constipation, liver damager etc. What's worse? Plus, I know it causes weight gain also. What do you guys think? Thanks!
Avatar m tn After 5 months of using the medication (20mg daily) I began experiencing some sexual side effects such as a dry orgasm, low sperm count, etc. - all of which were unexplainable. My psychiatrist asked that i stop the zyprexa immediately as it was causing an increase in prolactin levels, he asked that i stop the drug COLD TURKEY! (no weaning off) - When I stopped the medication, i did not sleep for 4 days. Whats worse is, I just didn't feel tired anymore...
874521 tn?1424116797 Zyprexa is still on the market. There was just a concern at the time that the company under reported the rate at which it causes diabetes. That issue has been addressed. All atypical antipsychotics can cause diabetes, Zyprexa being the one with the greatest potential.
3136619 tn?1345387321 I am wondering if anyone has tried Zydis. I haven't heard much about it on these boards. I've gained enough weight on regular Zyprexa and wonder if anyone has had fewer side effects with Zydis.
628714 tn?1268238196 The most commonly reported side effects are sleepiness or excessive sleeping, dizziness, dry mouth and weight gain. Other side effects include akathisia (an inability to sit still), constipation, dizziness, orthostatic hypotension and tremors. The yawning you experience is also a rare side effect reported with Zyprexa. (Ref: http://bipolar.about.com/cs/zyprexa/a/meds_zyprexa.
1082697 tn?1260064616 Antidepressants often have many side effects listed. Legally, the manufacturers must list every single adverse event that occurred in patients who were taking their drug. This does not mean that you will experience all of the side effects listed. Everyone is different and therefore patients may have different side effects with the same drug. A drug may have a side effect that occurs in me that you do not experience. This drug is safe and it seems that you are tolerating the drug well.
1257808 tn?1322762215 Please read all side effects on the meds you take. Always go with the lowest dose that works for you. Many pdoc's just randomly increase a med for no reason at all, disregarding that the lower dose works. The more of a med you take, the more chance of side effects. That's not to say you won't get any side effects on any dosage. Hope this is helpful.
Avatar f tn Just look up side effects and long-term effects.. I was speaking out of my own experience but my chemical balance is obviously completely different to that of your son's which would change the effect it has on his mental and personality states.
Avatar n tn i was on zyprexa for 2 weeks and i made the decision to stop it because the side effects were awful. tired and nervous at the same time, plus i gained 11 pounds in two weeks. i find that although i may have periods of hypomania, it is not enough to warrant being on meds for mania. most of them are very strong and the side effects are even worse in the long run.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have taken those two medications together before but I was also taking an antidepressant at the time as well. Which with my rapid cycling bipolar I shouldn't have been taking, this shouldn't affect how I found these two medications but I thought I should give all relevant information. Lithium affected my memory a lot, sometimes functioning for me was an issue as it made me at times feel like a zombie aswell.
