zyprexa vs xanax

m suppose to be taking zyprexa and I scared to because I have Xanax in my system and have never tried zyprexa.

approximately 70 mg of dextroamphetimines, approximately 30 mg of xanax, and approximately 15 mg of zyprexa? My friend is pretty much self-medicating himself using a therapists help for prescriptions, and I'm worried about the interactions/addictiveness. Just so you know, he's 42 and was diagnosed with schizophrenia 11 years ago; hence, the zyprexa.

m just not a big fan of any anti-psychotic drugs for depression and anxiety) I had my Psych prescribe me a strong Tri-cyclic and 900Mgs a day of Lithium then added Klonopin for the anxiety. (I used to take Xanax, but the half life was way too short with Xanax so I went Klonopin instead) It was a good move because 2Mgs of Klonopin controls my anxiety way better than Xanax.

When the physicians were bringing me off my high Xanax dose (ten years ago) I was put on Zyprexa. It was like a miracle. Anxiety gone, slept good, amazing. But I happen to beone of the unfortunate few that began to suffer from Tardive Dyskinesia or involuntary muscle movements. My lower lip would tremble and go crazy even while talking. Scared me, since I then read that such side effects can be irreversible-permanent. I quit Zyprexa.

I was just put back on xanax a few days ago alonng with Prozac......my new dr dianosed me with GAD and depression...I am so drowsy and dizzy....a figured after being on ativan so long i would have no problems with the xanax makingme so tired....My question is well the drowiness pass after i get used to it....I ws on Prozac last May to sept...with ativan and abilify and my new dr said it was the wrong conbimation.Every thing i read about xanax says it can also help depression.

A few years back when I had chronic insomnia and got very anxious and depressed due to the sleep loss, a psychiatrist prescribed me Remeron and Zyprexa. Zyprexa to get the sleep going until Remeron kicks in. I fortunately saw my doctor who got very angry with the psychiatrist for giving me Zyprexa as I was not psychotic and secondly there are very bad side effects from it.

my dr is gpoing to up my prozac from 20 mg to 40 mg (I have been on prozac since march 3 and also xanax...before that i had been on ativan since may 09,,and in jan a dr tried me on lithium depakote and zyprexa all during the month of jan....the last one i was on was zyprexa and stopped it march 2 after only being on it about 2 weeks....

Thanks for the info, I found another doctor and he took me off the Zyprexa and put me on lithium and xanax. I feel much better, thanks for your response..

I've been taking Zyprexa at bedtime for the past few nights, per Endo #3, and I feel a lot better, folks. As a matter of fact, I felt better almost immediately after taking the first dose. It seems to act quick, like Xanax, but stays in the bloodstream longer or something. Dr. Pretorius was concerned that I was getting a little too used to Xanax, so he wants me to try to gradually come off of that and he'll increase the Zyprexa dosage.

Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.

My son is experiencing 7.5 mg zyprexa withdrawel I believe. He has been in bed on and off for 4 days with headache and very sick to stomach. How long with this go on????? What can help the stomach???? He has only been on this med for 3 months. I would hate to see what someone on this for years would go through!

My doctor told me to take Xanax to sleep, also tried Trazodone, Melatonin, and many over the counter - the only thing that works is the Xanax however I won't take this every night. I have also heard from many sources that the sleeplessness gets better over time, that it can take a couple of months.

In January of this year I began using Zyprexa for bipolar and psychosis. After 5 months of using the medication (20mg daily) I began experiencing some sexual side effects such as a dry orgasm, low sperm count, etc. - all of which were unexplainable. My psychiatrist asked that i stop the zyprexa immediately as it was causing an increase in prolactin levels, he asked that i stop the drug COLD TURKEY! (no weaning off) - When I stopped the medication, i did not sleep for 4 days.

Giving me anti depressants only enrages me, its like throwing fuel on the fire, im not a big beleiver in anti depressants but symbyax does mix prozac with zyprexa. Zyprexa is a wonderful drug.

the other 3 I cant remember but it made me feel so doped up I switched docs and and she put me on 2 celexa and zyprexa and they have worked wonderful for me. No dopey drugged feeling. Just nice stable everyday normal living. Its seems to me that alot of docs tend to overprescribe when all is need for bi polar is a good mood stabilizer and a good anti depressant I could be wrong since I am not a doc . I am just a bi polar (in remission lol)who has been on alot of meds.

I have had a hard time finding the right medication for me as well for the last 7 years due to my sensitivity to side effects. Finally I was tried on 225 mg of effexor and my symptoms disappeared. I have also had luck with zyprexa , loxipine, paxil and cymbalta. Geodon was truly the best though but the side effects of heart related symptoms were just too intense for me physically.

Just curious why you switched from Klonopin to xanax? Xanax seems to be a little stronger but wears off quicker and more abrubtly. Klonopin helps more with breakthrough anxiety in my opinion. A good friend of mine had to switch from Xanax to Klonopin because they were feelign withdrawals from xanax during the day...especially if they waited an extra hour or so to take their dose because they forgot.

I have been on Xanax 1mg/tid for almost 22 years (panic attacks and GAD). I also have been on Antidepressant for about 30 years. For backpain I received Vicodin and I became so happy, that I thought, finally, something kicked in. Well the Vicodin was my downfall, sometimes after taking it for about 3 months, I would take 2 Vicodins q 2 or 3 hrs. to have the same "happy" effect. No spaced out or anything, could think clearly, and then after about 9 months, boom, I was a wreck.

Hi there... Hate to be the bearer of bad news but you are in for one hell of a ride. I was on Zyprexa which is in the same class of drugs called atypical antipsychotics. You should have never been prescribed this for sleep. It is primarily used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorders and are commonly called mood stabilizers. I was prescribed Zyprexa for GAD or general anxiety disorder and told it was a good non addictive choice since I wanted of benzo's like xanax.

Paxil is indicated for long term use, while Xanax is not. Do not increase Xanax - you risk developing a tolerance and it will likely become less and less effective. I'd investigate an alternate SSRI rather than increase the benzo. You'll regret it later if you rely on the X. Best Wishes.

Well I can say for myself that I'd be concerned taking more than one anti-psychotic at a time. That's how I developed severe tardive dyskinesia to begin with which the rate of developing it as my psychopharmocologist stated "with typicals 5% per person per year and atypical antipsychotics 2.5% per person per year". Every antipsychotic you are one are atypical antipsychotics but I would see no reason you should be on more than one.

I do not know if there are less side effects than xanax. I do know, however, that xanax is only supposed to be prescribed for short term use and as needed. Klonopin is for long-term daily use. I am sure someone will post here to help you.

I am not too familiar with Klonopin but many people have switched from xanax to that..my thought about it though is that you say you are taking it to sleep. Xanax is an anti anxiety med and not very useful for sleep. i would consider tapering off it completely and try a med for sleep. I have taken xanax for many years and at one point was on @7mg..but I successfully weaned off it.
