Zyprexa vs seroquel

Common Questions and Answers about Zyprexa vs seroquel

zyprexa

Avatar n tn My brother (46 years old, dx at age 17) has been on 20mg/day of Zyprexa for approx 1 month (we switched him from haldol injections). He is schizophrenic, lives with me, & is a heavy smoker (approx 3-4 packs/day with no current interest in stopping although he did kick the caffeine habit). I've been reading up on zyprexa & smoking and noted that zyprexa clearance is 40% higher in smokers vs. non smokers.
Avatar n tn My doctor tried to change me to Zyprexa, Seroquel and Abilify but I felt sleepy. I don't seem to have any side effects from Risperdal. Is your friend under great stress. When I am, that is when I have bizarre thoughts and paranoia. I still just stay on Risperdal and it doesn't last long. See if you can help him eliminate some of the stress in his life. Couldn't hurt.
Avatar n tn i had to take 15g's of klon to calm me down alond with seroquel, lots of kratom. and beer.just to calm down. just be very, very careful. some people can handle it short term fewer people long term-getting off.-very difficult, but most people like me have addictive personalities- i took 10g's today and don't really know what i'm going to do. be honest with yourself and more power to you if you can stay at a certain dose.
574118 tn?1305138884 50mg seroquel, 1mg risperidone, 1mg stellazin (typical antipsychotic) my last mania 4 years ago. I extinguished it by 300 seroquel. After which I kept reducing seroquel dose, until a month ago succeed till 50. Perhaps at this dose no antidepressant effect of it. Perhaps should be higher than that. Already I am BPII so depression is my problem.
Avatar f tn I even called the company who makes Seroquel and they said one has to balance the risks vs the benefits of using the drug and many doctor's prescribe it for off label use, i.e. dementia with psychosis, dispite the block box warning. Even a hospital program for the elderly said this is a common drug they prescribe for their elderly clients with good success. That's just amazing, knowing one can die from this medication. Now we have him on Xanex at night. Tried .
Avatar f tn I am living in a developing country, so being away from fatty american foods is part of it, but I didn't loose weight here until after I went off of the zyprexa. I notice that if I do take zyprexa (my doc said I could take a pill every once in a while if I started to feel manic) I start to get huge cravings (even after just one pill) and I am really lethargic, so to me this shows how much this med can affect you.
Avatar m tn it does control moods well but i guess you have to way up the side effects vs the benifits. i am on seroquel xr and normal seroquel. the xr works quite well to control moods.
980052 tn?1262970679 I also take celexa (for now) for a little bit of break through depression seasonal...I was on seroquel for sleep but since the baby $ mos) ago I had to stop b/c it really knocked me out I've done ok w/o it. she tried me on abilify and I felt very lethargic.so stopped that so I am now on nuerotin depakote xanax and celexa but am def looking to replace the depakote w/ something that can be taken along w/ these meds so I lamictal looks/sounds like a good alternative for me.
Avatar n tn lexapro, paxil, zoloft, seroquel, lamictal, xyprexa, buspar, and welbutrin. Currently I am taking depakote er, which actually seems to be working fairly well. It makes the anxiety bareable, but doesn't do much for my depression. However, there has always been one thing that has relieved all my symptoms; pain medications. First I would like to say something that Im sure everyone knows; these medicines are very addictive and should not be abused.
20003388 tn?1515169640 I've come off Lamotrigine, Gabapentin, Zyprexa and Seroquel cold Turkey as well (not by choice) and Paxil was, by far, the worse withdrawal. I appreciate all the input from both of you. It's good that you guys are giving me suggestions of things to do or have checked in case there was something I hadn't considered. As far as the vitamin D3, my levels actually fall within normal range with the supplementation that I take. That probably means without supplementing I would probably be low.
