1257808 tn?1322762215 Since I increased Zyprexa to 20mg, I became sleep for very long time. Most of the day sleep or sleepy. I'm not sure what to do. Continue on this dose (20mg) until my body deal with it or decrease the dose to 15mg.
Avatar n tn He spent 10 days in our local hospital and had to be transferred to the state facility due to lack of insurance coverage. (they only would pay for 10 days) He is given 1500 depokote and 30 mil of zyprexa now for about 15 days.
Avatar n tn I bought a very accurate milligram scale that can measure each 0.001 G. I started to take away 0.001g every day for some time (My 2.5mg zyprexa comes on a capsule filled with a white powder which acctually weights 160mg)... I started at 2.5 mg and when i was about 1.9mg I didn´t feel very good so I decided to reduce 0.001 G every other day... Now I am at 1.
Avatar m tn Zyprexa (olanzapine) is an atypical antipsychotic medication. Exactly how it works is not known. It is thought to work by changing the actions of certain chemicals in the brain. Zyprexa is used to treat the symptoms of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (manic depression) in adults and children who are at least 13 years old. Zyprexa is sometimes used together with other antipsychotic medications or antidepressants.
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm currently taking Lithium and Zyprexa and in the last few weeks I have no energy to do anything. I also can't really sit down and work on anything. My brain seems to be too slow most of the time. I'm not feeling depressed and I get enough sleep so would it be the medication causing it? If so, what do you think my pdoc can do about it?
Avatar m tn There are some considerations when on Zyprexa, you will have to have occasional blood work done, as Zyprexa can cause high blood sugar, increased cholesterol and lipids. If you are at increased risk for heart disease, there may be some risks that you would want to talk to your doctor about.
Avatar m tn Then he told me to use the zyprexa to stabalize my mood. Just wondering if it would work or just knock my brain off somewhere, or just make me feel worst. I have been thru soooo much trying to stay off the pain pills, been relapsing for 6-7 months, then going through withdrawal for 1-2 wks, then starting back up, etc, etc. So my mood never does get right. Im so tired of this whole merry go round. Im tempted to try it for a few nights. But I have heard some horror stories about it.
Avatar f tn Why not just continue to communicate with your current doctor, and try to follow his instructions.....these meds DO take some time....so maybe you have to try to just hang in there and re-evaluate it again with your doc in 2 weeks like he suggested? Are we talking fall down dizziness? A little sensation of light-headedness? How would you describe the sensation? Sometimes we WAY overreact to side effects that are actually pretty mild....yet we manage to catastrophize them.
Avatar f tn How to Stop Taking Zyprexa (olanzapine) Your doctor should be recommending that you reduce your dosage of Zyprexa by 5mg a day every six days if you need to discontinue Zyprexa. Making it a week is just easier to remember. You can stop immediately if it’s an emergency, but I wouldn’t recommend doing that without a doctor’s supervision. The major problem with stopping antipsychotics is a sudden return of your symptoms.
Avatar n tn Those two antipsychotics are generally effective although each person responds differently to each medication. As well that should be enough time to see some help from the medications although Zyprexa takes longer to build up to a blood level where it is effective but only a psychiatrist would understand the specifics of this but it would be essential to discuss this with his psychiatrist. At any time that psychosis worsens of course that should be discussed with the psychiatrist as well.
Avatar n tn It's also really important to note, these drugs don't work overnight, other then heavy anti-psychotics.. Lithium is a fantastic drug and it works fairly fast. I went rapidly downhill when I was finally weaned off the Cymbalta that I was on. Don't change the meds at all until you speak with her psychiatrist. Some drugs, especially the anti-psychotics can make a person quite drowsy at first, but it's better then her outbursts right?? The Lith is safe, very very safe.
Avatar n tn I've been taking zyprexa for almost 6 months and am still suffering side effects. I get blurred vision and fogginess which makes it hard to concentrate. I'm sleepy all of the time and could fall asleep at my desk if I could. I've had bipolar disorder for 10 years and have never been sleepy all of the time. In the past, prior to this medicine, I've always had troubles sleeping. Does anyone else have the same problems as me?
Avatar m tn It you really think about it, although 3 weeks was a hugeee accomplishment, in comparison to how long we use that is really still the beginning. Give it time, lots of time, and do things to make it easier and less stressful for you. It isnt easy. It is a work in progress. i am 142 days today and i feel great but still have things and symptoms that pop up from time to time. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Can anyone please let me know their experience with zyprexa. How long it took to work and how it helped you. I would appreciate any advice and information on it. I am bipolar 1 for 17 years, have been through a lot of meds, and unfortunately have to take many. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I never want to take Zyprexa again. I wish to God my doctor would have never put me on it. I just need to get through the withdrawals and don't want to get addicted to other drugs trying to get off this one. It is a struggle and I have read that many people go through withdrawals as long as 4-5 months.
Avatar m tn My doctor instructed me to hang on to the Zyprexa for emergency situations, but took me off of Abilify and replaced it with Geodon, which "it's claim to fame" (as she put it) is that it's least likely to cause weight issues, among the atypicals. 20mg twice daily. So far it is working well, and I get slightly drowsy but I'm not eating everything in sight. So now the regimen is Lexapro 20mg, Geodon 20mg/x2, Clonazepam 1mg/x3, and Trazodone 150mg/bedtime.
Avatar m tn I have been on Prozac for the past 12 years. On Zyprexa I began to experience Edema and weight gain, which was not great considering I have battled an eating disorder for the past 18 years. I called my doctor and he told me to just stop taking the zyprexa and the edema would go away. I asked him if I should wean down and he said no that there are no withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar m tn In January of this year I began using Zyprexa for bipolar and psychosis. After 5 months of using the medication (20mg daily) I began experiencing some sexual side effects such as a dry orgasm, low sperm count, etc. - all of which were unexplainable. My psychiatrist asked that i stop the zyprexa immediately as it was causing an increase in prolactin levels, he asked that i stop the drug COLD TURKEY! (no weaning off) - When I stopped the medication, i did not sleep for 4 days.

401554 tn?1270213756 I was diagnosed with a harmless heart arrhythmia a year ago and the Zyprexa is making it much worse. My cardiologist and psychiatrist said it was nothing to worry about but I'm scared. Risperdal also had the same effect, too. I tried Abilify but It made me way too jittery. Has anyone else out there experienced this?
Avatar f tn m suppose to be taking zyprexa and I scared to because I have Xanax in my system and have never tried zyprexa.
Avatar m tn or your doctor which should be the person you pose these questions to - sorry but drug interactions and reasons for prescriptions are questions which belong with a medical professional.
Avatar n tn What's your diagnosis? Severe depression can certainly make you feel like a zombie. The side effects might last for a while--I think it took a few weeks after stopping Wellbutrin to get rid of my dry mouth, but I'm not sure what the time frame would be for zyprexa. You should ask your psychiatrist (calmly) why she prescribed zyprexa for you in the first place. Explain that you just don't understand, and that you'd like more information.
