Zyprexa ssri

Common Questions and Answers about Zyprexa ssri

zyprexa

Avatar f tn i was diagnosed with bipolar 6 years ago after a head injury and was taking zyprexa. Soon after, I was hospitalized with pancreatitis. The doctors immediatly took me off the zyprexa. Since then I have quit all alcohol and never did take drugs. I am currently taking Lexapro, but i don't feel it is what i need. I am constantly tierd, gaining weight, have constant muscle pain, especially in my feet and legs. I still suffer from mood swings, the ups and downs.
Avatar f tn After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.
Avatar f tn My question is can an SSRI be taken for depression/anxiety/stress? I know that an SSRI on its own can trigger mania etc but is it ok to take them alongside a mood stabiliser? I am so fed up of the low days and over here they won't give you anything to help you feel "up". I was on citalopram (don't know if this is in the ssri group) 60mg whilst on depakote but that just didn't do any good either and I came off both (separately).
Avatar m tn What drugs were you on before? Were you on any atypical antipsychotics, like Seroquel or Abilify (which can be added to SSRI antidepressants)? The antipsychotics can cause tardive dyskinesia, which is a movement disorder that is sometimes permanent. You should talk to your doctor about these tics, since they're new and seem to be drug related.
Avatar f tn I have had depression and breakdowns for years and been on an SSRI for years also...my doc has been keeping a close eye on me recently as she thinks i may have bipolar type 2, she is refering me to a psychiatrist. i am glad a diagnosis may come about but i am scared as to what the meds will do, especially if i come off the ssri....does anyone else have this and has a mood stabilizer worked?
Avatar n tn I'm not familiar with zyprexa, citalopram is a common SSRI - I used it for depression and anxiety. I think the key is taking it slow.
Avatar f tn I had anxiety and I was on Cipralex 20mg & Zyprexa 5mg I was doing fine. I got a viral infection for which I used leflox 500mg antibiotic 2 times a day. The viral infection got cured but I got anxiety. My doctor has gave me a plan to temper zyprexa as it was giving me brain fog and has added wellburtin SR 150mg. I am asking him to give me some benzodiazepines he does not gives as he says that Cipralex & Wellburtin are enough. He says that give wellburtin 3 weeks to work.
874521 tn?1424116797 my son spiraled badly 3 wks ago and was put on zyprexa(now 10mg) and valporate(1000mg) the first week he was full of anxiety...couldn't settle, just paced the floor yet he was depressed and cried alot too. was told this was a mixed state of BP. the second-part of 3rd week he stabilized but in an extreme depression....so low he could barely get dressed or eat, but he pushed himself and even worked. Now a little into the 3rd week he is still depressed although not as bad...
Avatar m tn isint there a drug that people that have bipolar can take to lesson this deppreshion in the winter monthes..we know that we cant take ssri,s cuz it makes us maic!!! the MS helps the mood to stay stable..what does the S.A.D. do to someone thats already taking a MS...
2033870 tn?1329481339 Giving me anti depressants only enrages me, its like throwing fuel on the fire, im not a big beleiver in anti depressants but symbyax does mix prozac with zyprexa. Zyprexa is a wonderful drug.
Avatar m tn Even when switching from one SSRI to another, I have always found it better to do at least a short taper off before introducing the new SSRI. The info you received regarding how long it will take for Zoloft to start working is IMO wrong. Just because lexapro is an SSRI and Zoloft is an SSRI doesn't mean that it will work instantly. You can expect the Zoloft to still take 3 to 6 weeks before it is fully effective.
Avatar n tn m not a doctor but it started like panic attacks during the day with very negative thoughts, suicidial thoughts, fast hertbeat and the feeling I lose my mind. I used to take zyprexa 10 mg which i graduatelly reduced to 5 mg, 8 months ago and I didn't want to go back to 10 so i tried to fight this dissorder dut I couldn't and the panic was increasing graduatelly until I needed a xanax to function. My doctor told me yesterday to take 2 mg risperdal at night and 2.
919239 tn?1269394658 t understand why would one prescribe Seroquel for depression. Have you tried SSRI or SNRIs? A reuptake inhibition of a neurotransmitter is way better, in my humble opionion, than the inhibition of the receptors implied with serotonin neurotransmitter. Seroquel is also a strong sedative, i know it won't be that sedative since you are getting the extended release version of it but still... Talk to your doctor.
Avatar m tn However, after using this combo for a month, my panic attacks have worsened, and I actually have to use Clonazepam SOS for severe attacks. My psychiatrist has now asked me to start on Zyprexa 2.5mg and Sertraline 50mg. My questions are: 1. Although I do not have schizophrenia, why am I constantly being prescribed antipsychotics as off-label anxiolytics? 2. Is it true that zyprexa and risperidone can induce schizophrenia if a non-schizophrenic person uses them? 3.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I have tried Seroquel, Seroquel XR, Zyprexa, and Lithium, all in the space of a few weeks... I thought that they were causing me to cycle harder, but I have realized that I am getting the akathisia side effect from them.. When the sun is down, they bring up my mood, but when it's bright out, I get very agitated.. All of these drugs have this side effect as they work on dopamine. I am at a loss right now; has anyone else had this problem? I am slowly running out of medications...
Avatar f tn m bipolar 2 and have taken the SSRI/SSNRIs with hypomanic results. The last caused a delusional episode landing me in the ER then to an inpatient facility where PTSD was also discovered. I'm on Lamictal now and Seroquil. Best I've felt my whole life. Take it slow with the meds...trust me. Don't let a doctor just throw pills at you.
Avatar n tn My psychiatrist has just added Zyprexa to take with Prozac as the Prozac is not working like it used to work.I'm worried about the weight gain with Zyprexa, is there something else that could be used with the Prozac instead? Also until now I've also been taking 1 mg. Ativan in the morning and 1 mg Ativan before bed. Is it safe to use Ativan with the Zyprexa?
Avatar m tn Can anyone give me some info. on zyprexa? Has anyone been given this to help stabalize their mood, during withdrawal? If so, please share with me if you benefited from this, and is this addictive as well?

739988 tn?1386672969 I have been on BP meds for several years. About a year ago I was diagnosed as diabetic. I've heard that the zyprexa and others like it can cause high blood sugar. Diabetes also runs on both sides of my family. Are there any mood stabilizers out there that don't cause Diabetes? I like the Zyprexa because it works really well for me. I guess I am just wondering if there is anyone else out there like me?
Avatar f tn but after being on so many meds in jan u know depakote, lithium, and zyprexa and now prozac im worried about seritonin syndrome...since being on the prozac i sweat alot...i think i did read thats a side effect....im doing more but im also kinda feel more sadness so my dr is upping the prozac from 20 mg to 40 mg.....im a bit worried about that as usual......i just feel so discouraged that nothing is gonna work.....and i cant take prozac in the day its makes me zonked...my dr was surprised by that..
559058 tn?1215810834 I'm bp, been on Zyprexa for 5 yrs off and on, gained weight of course, and know that it has tons of other side effects. But I know Depakote is not without side effects either -- like constipation, liver damager etc. What's worse? Plus, I know it causes weight gain also. What do you guys think? Thanks!
1257808 tn?1322762215 Now, I'm on zyprexa 5mg then increase to 10 mg. Zyprexa instead of Syroquil. Also, monitoring my WBCs to avoid it's down again. The goal is to prevent high mood first then manage and control low mood. My mood include high, low, and mixed moods. Thank you for your time, answer, and help.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if anyone on this website is taking zyprexa for racing thoughts and irritability. I started taking it in December for these symptoms but I have put on weight taking this drug. I am not sure if it is the drug itself or if my appetite has increased. In anycase, I am really depressed about this and am thinking of switching medications or just getting off the zyprexa itself. I am also taking 20 mg. of lexapro and this has not caused a past weight gain. Please help!
Avatar m tn I took Zyprexa 5mg for 3 nights only to help with sleep, but have not taken it for 2 nights. Had really difficulty getting to sleep and my sleep was really broken up. Is this normal for this med.
