Zyprexa long acting

Common Questions and Answers about Zyprexa long acting

zyprexa

Avatar n tn Why don't you ask your doctor to cover you during this transition with a short acting sleeping pill like ambien. Then you can get off the zyprexa, but still get a good nights sleep.
Avatar f tn I've had a rough several days and saw my psychiatrist today. He gave me Zyprexa. This is only a short-term "band-aid" for 3 or 4 days max - and hopefully not that long. I have never taken it before. I read all that teeny tiny print in the insert, but none of it was for such brief usage. What should I expect? How should I feel? He is trying to get me back to a more normal state, but is hoping for sleep. Sleep is fine, but he wanted me to start right away and I've had a dose.
Avatar n tn Personally, I dont sleep very long on Ambien. I fall asleep but wake up. I still am tapering my Zyprexa, and am only getting 3-4 hours of sleep. Exercising to break a sweat seems to help. It takes the brain along time to get back on track on its own. Hang in there. Most doctors including my own said million of people take Zyprexa and they have never heard of such withdrawls.
Avatar f tn Hi RCA, You are sounding more like my doctor now!! Clobazam known as Frisium has been prescribed by my GP (doctor) to trial out and then choose between diazepam and Frisium. I had a previous post on this. My doctor mentioned that Frisium was used by the pilots during the Falklands War and was preferred as it was less sedating. Despite this frisium is not commonly prescribed and I don't understand why.
Avatar n tn What are the potential effects of taking the following meds on a daily basis: approximately 70 mg of dextroamphetimines, approximately 30 mg of xanax, and approximately 15 mg of zyprexa? My friend is pretty much self-medicating himself using a therapists help for prescriptions, and I'm worried about the interactions/addictiveness. Just so you know, he's 42 and was diagnosed with schizophrenia 11 years ago; hence, the zyprexa.
222267 tn?1253305810 Second, I was stumbling around. It was like I was drunk. Third, my boyfriend and family kept telling me I was acting strange. I would ask them questions over and over or I would tell a story that I told them just the day before. My memory was shot. I was acting different and not in your typical BP way. Fourth, my hands shook worse that ever. Not the typical tremors, which can get bad. I couldn't even hold things in my hands. Fifth, I had horrible diarhea.
Avatar f tn my new dr dianosed me with GAD and depression...I am so drowsy and dizzy....a figured after being on ativan so long i would have no problems with the xanax makingme so tired....My question is well the drowiness pass after i get used to it....I ws on Prozac last May to sept...with ativan and abilify and my new dr said it was the wrong conbimation.Every thing i read about xanax says it can also help depression.
Avatar f tn You should taper off slowly, because you'll eventually hit 'tolerance' even a long acting benzo since you've been on them so long. Don't just quit the ativan when you change, do a 'cross over' to the longer acting benzo. Some benzo forums may have people there that can give you a schedule. Don't drink alcohol while doing this.
Avatar f tn Sorry about that, but my keyboard is acting up. I meant that you need to call the psychiatrist or dr. now, and tell the dr.
Avatar n tn The medications are like Zyprexa, Clozaril, and most recently Risperdal. But i have really been thinking about withdrawling from it. Because i am really worried about the side effects of antipsychotics, and i have to just keep taking them. I know that withdrawling from antipsychotics can cause withdrawal symptoms. And how long would the withdrawal symptom insomnia usually last?
Avatar m tn Even when switching from one SSRI to another, I have always found it better to do at least a short taper off before introducing the new SSRI. The info you received regarding how long it will take for Zoloft to start working is IMO wrong. Just because lexapro is an SSRI and Zoloft is an SSRI doesn't mean that it will work instantly. You can expect the Zoloft to still take 3 to 6 weeks before it is fully effective.
1134609 tn?1269275800 Klonopin is usually used for long-term use. Xanax is usually used as needed, or for short-term use, since it leaves the body much more quickly and builds to tolerance for most people more quickly. Perhaps you might want to investigate ssris or tricyclics instead of benzos.
Avatar n tn Yes, that does help me understand somewhat. Thank you. My gastroenterologist recently entertained the idea that my severe neurological "spells" (epidsodes of increasing talkativeness, which progresses to uncharacteristic rage, inability to read/write, not knowing where I am, ending with fatigue and drowsiness) may be caused by hepatic encephalopathy.
585414 tn?1288944902 Today was Yom Kippur but I ate. I am Jewish but a non believer but I'm not here to discuss that. What I did do was think about what I did wrong but then refocus on what I could do right to correct it. Feelings of negativity never help a person in recovery regardless of religion. One thing I did wrong was to put down my mother for her "acting out" which was from having bipolar. It took a year to talk her down but she agreed to see a psychiatrist and now I must support her recovery.
Avatar m tn I believe, or know I have set myself back with PAWS, but I don’t see doing a short acting opiate, versus coming off a long acting synthetic as putting me right back at square one. Setback yes but I don’t feel as bad today as I did day 19 even with that 4 day **** up. I am not using actively now or anything, but do understand your point.
341220 tn?1196964821 No therapy no nothing. They gave me Lexapro and Zyprexa. I gained 20 lbs. in 2 weeks HORRIBLE. Anyway stop taking both meds abotu 3 months later. Met another girl with a 8 month old Daughter. That I fell in love with. I am her "Daddy" acording to her she is now 4. Well long story getting short. On July 4th 2007 My Bio Father passed away and was creamated on July 5th by his Girlfriend. I was notified by his employer of his death on July 12th. So that was hard enough.
Avatar n tn When I went through riba rage, my doctor prescribed ZYPREXA...it comes in 15mg tablets that I was told to cut in half....I only had to take 1/2 of a tablet a day. It really worked for me. Please go to "thyroid" post. You will find my up-date. I found out today....I RELAPSED!. Oh well, life goes on. I love you very much!!!!!

Avatar m tn Also I found Zyprexa ( we call it ZyFATsa ) it's a fast acting drug. I keep it for emergencies. Try not ever staying on too long. I gained mucho weight & with the same food as before the drug. I think it messes with metabolism. I can't tolerate lithium. I get severe leg cramps. Was on Seaquell at night for 4+ yrs. it does kick you into outer space though. I can't take Lamotrigene either. Instead of Depakote ( which I gained on ) I used another substitute. Forget name now.
Avatar n tn well I had it for more. I got it from my Zyprexa and now if I have to live with it for the rest of my life.. Im going to have a crappy life, because I'm only 18.
Avatar n tn He is now on lithium 600mg for his mood swings and zyprexa 7.5g for the rages. He is also taking about 9gm of Omega 3, vitamin Bs, vitamin C. His anger and violence finally decreased only when the dosage was finally increased to the present dosage. His violence has decreased by about 90% and he is back in school since last August. He still gets angry mainly because he finds he is unable to think clearly at times due to the side effects of the medication.
1032715 tn?1315987834 A very small dose taken several hours before bedtime in accordance with the phase response curve for melatonin in humans (PRC) doesn't cause sleepiness but, acting as a chronobiotic (affecting aspects of biological time structure),[50] advances the phase slightly and is additive to the effect of using light therapy upon awakening.
1450639 tn?1284923584 Zyprexa (from what I remember it and what I was informed) takes a while to build up a blood level. Rispedal is more short acting in how long it takes to work. They also when a person is elderly need to rule out other evident concerns such as dementia but only a psychiatrist would understand all this in full. You could look up schizophrenia.com for more information. As well NAMI friend and family support groups can be helpful to learn coping skills.
Avatar m tn Goodness gracous me, you seem to be a medical mystery. Well regards the Ambien instead of acting as a sleeping pill its acting more like a anti-d or benzo....strange? Does the Ambien actually help in giving you a restful sleep? Cause maybe if your managing to sleep well on it then your body is rested and feels more able to cope with everyday life, hense all the improvement in symptoms. WHy though wont they remove the tumour? this makes no sense.
212753 tn?1275076711 I am full blown bi polar and I only take 5 mg fo zyprexa and 20 mg of celexa and I am doing great .I have been taking it for 6 years and it has made such an incerdible difference in my quality of life .I dont have the extremes i used to get and I react with normal emotions now. I am truly happy for you.
Avatar n tn Was put on Wellbutrin and could not tolerate that (couldn't sleep). I am now on 10 mg of Pamelor and two .05 of long acting Xanax which I am trying to stop (slowly under Dr's supervision). My problem is because I have soooo much health anxiety and my panic attacks and depression are caused by health anxiety it makes it very difficult to take any type of med because I think the side effects are a new undetected disease. I am very med sensitive.
1221258 tn?1267546029 Although I think that coming down to a lower dose of Klonopin may be good for you in the long run, a GP doesn't know enough about the benzos to do so safely. Virtually all of my mental illness problems have been exacerbated by the fact that I was seeing GPs and GNPs. They just don't understand the medication or the illness enough to treat it effectively... A good shrink will know that the best way to wean off of Klonopin is to use Valium.
Avatar n tn Valium is best, Klonopin is good enough. Between the two, Valium leaves the body much more slowly than Klonopin. Both are much easier to detox from than Xanax or Ativan. Klonopin has a reputation for causing less euphoria than Valium, so your doc might go for Klonopin over Valium. I'd try for the Valium, though. Cheap as dirt and, compared to Xanax, safe as houses. The crucial point is that your doc put you on a dose of Valium or Klonopin equal (equimolar) to 2MG Xanax.
Avatar n tn It ended up breaking his tooth and that cost us $400.00. I called my shrink and she put me on Zyprexa. Actually I didn't take it long../I learned to control my rage. Be sure he is put on antidepressant a few wks or longer before he starts treatment (tx). And discuss w/ your doctor about a nerve pill. Best wishes and do remember every body has different sx (side effects)some worse than others. I used my wonderful General Prat. for infections and just regular check ups. He's the one who diag.
Avatar m tn She is taking prescibed klonopin for the anxiety, takes about 6mg/day to even be able to get out of her room due to panic attacks. Tried long acting xanax and it didnt phase her. Have tried lunesta, ambien and restoril, all at highest dosages and she still doesnt sleep.
