Zyprexa generic availability

Common Questions and Answers about Zyprexa generic availability

zyprexa

Avatar f tn Actually Zyprexa is now available as a generic. If a person has an issue with the cost of the medication it would make sense for them to ask their psychiatrist for the generic form as its basically the same medication but not being the brand form would be far less expensive (the generic would be called olanzapine).
628714 tn?1268238196 Hi Zyprexa (generic Olanzapine) is an atypical antipsychotic medication. Zyprexa is used to treat the symptoms of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (manic depression). The most commonly reported side effects are sleepiness or excessive sleeping, dizziness, dry mouth and weight gain. Other side effects include akathisia (an inability to sit still), constipation, dizziness, orthostatic hypotension and tremors.
Avatar n tn i took zyprexa it helped but it made me gain weight does the weight come off after you stop taking the med
Avatar f tn Look for generic entecavir.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I have never had any luck when I have been placed on the generic brands of medications. Celexa especially; I was on it for 10 years, tried the generic several times and paid for it. 3. I have also been on Neurontin for the past 10 years. In a past post, I wondered if they decrease in dosage is what was causing me so many problems. However, I am back on the brand name of the medication and there's a HUGE difference between the two.
574118 tn?1305135284 I experience anxiety and I normally take 1 mg at bedtime of generic klonopin. For years now, it's been the generic brand TEVA. I got my refill and for 2 nights now this other brand IPL is not working. So, there is certainly a difference. My doctor said it is possible that due to the fillers or the binders, sometimes they can vary in effectiveness. It's just upsetting. I can't sleep and now have to deal with calling and finding out what to do next.
Avatar m tn Olimelt is the generic of Zyprexa which is used to treat anxiety and depression and also works on controlling neurotransmitters in the brain. A lot of medications that work for OCD are antidepressants. Sometimes doctors will prescribe a regimen of medications to see how you are doing. If you have been on them for a while, say about 4 weeks, and you are still having unwanted side effects then you should discuss with your doctor.
497950 tn?1255863927 I am on Neurontin and Celexa right now which is great but I can still feel myself going up and down all the time. Or even if I have to go back on Zyprexa has anyone NOT gained weight on it? People told me I would gain weigh on Celexa and I haven't.
874521 tn?1424116797 I know for a fact that the zyprexa causes drowsiness. I have been on 10mg for over a year and it makes me sleep well through the night and into the morning. I'm not sure about the other drug, but the one thing I am sure of is don't let him just get off the zyprexa "cold turkey"!!! Read on here under zyprexa withdrawls about what most of us feel when we are coming off of this drug. You will be surprised on what it does to someone's well being....
Avatar f tn You may not necessarily need a higher dose, sometimes a change in medication can do the trick and rotate every year or so, that can help keep your tolerance down a bit. As for Opana, it will either work great for you or not at all. It's bio-availability is only around 10-15% so it really just depends. But, like I said, some people respond really well to it and some don't. Its worth a shot if you have insurance, it is really expensive, even the new generic is expensive. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn it enhances dopamine availability and can help some who have a deficiency in that area..it is similar to trazodone in ways//anothe sleep dpression like drug/and yohimbee which is not a rx drug but is also a dopamine enhancer..after u r on it for a while, the sedative effect lessens...so ur dr is either rx-ing it to u for depression, anxiety/and or sleep....make sure of the spelling..
408795 tn?1324935675 Anyone heard about the EASL presentation about the "Generic Rebels" in the "Redemption" Clinical Trials? Just passing information onward. Following MedHelp guidelines, I'm not supposed to post any links. That's fine, if you want more information on generic Harvoni or any HepC drugs, simply go to Google and lookup Dr. James Freeman from Australia, best doctor in the world when it comes to HepC. Just say no to Gilead=Greediad and high prices!!!
Avatar n tn My psychiatrist has just added Zyprexa to take with Prozac as the Prozac is not working like it used to work.I'm worried about the weight gain with Zyprexa, is there something else that could be used with the Prozac instead? Also until now I've also been taking 1 mg. Ativan in the morning and 1 mg Ativan before bed. Is it safe to use Ativan with the Zyprexa?
Avatar m tn Any one has idea about Gilead's new drug TAF availability in rest of the world other than US?
Avatar f tn There are some medications but one that seems to have been approved by many governments is Zyprexa (Olanzapine). It should be in a generic form now, so it should be cheaper than the name brand version. As you have been diagnosed with BAD II, your doctor should not have a problem prescribing it. Starting dosage could be 10 mg/day. The medication seems to be a bit more effective than the anticonvulsants, lithium, etc. Antidepressants can be prescribed as adjunct therapy. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Can anyone give me some info. on zyprexa? Has anyone been given this to help stabalize their mood, during withdrawal? If so, please share with me if you benefited from this, and is this addictive as well?

739988 tn?1386672969 I have been on BP meds for several years. About a year ago I was diagnosed as diabetic. I've heard that the zyprexa and others like it can cause high blood sugar. Diabetes also runs on both sides of my family. Are there any mood stabilizers out there that don't cause Diabetes? I like the Zyprexa because it works really well for me. I guess I am just wondering if there is anyone else out there like me?
559058 tn?1215810834 I'm bp, been on Zyprexa for 5 yrs off and on, gained weight of course, and know that it has tons of other side effects. But I know Depakote is not without side effects either -- like constipation, liver damager etc. What's worse? Plus, I know it causes weight gain also. What do you guys think? Thanks!
1257808 tn?1322762215 Now, I'm on zyprexa 5mg then increase to 10 mg. Zyprexa instead of Syroquil. Also, monitoring my WBCs to avoid it's down again. The goal is to prevent high mood first then manage and control low mood. My mood include high, low, and mixed moods. Thank you for your time, answer, and help.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if anyone on this website is taking zyprexa for racing thoughts and irritability. I started taking it in December for these symptoms but I have put on weight taking this drug. I am not sure if it is the drug itself or if my appetite has increased. In anycase, I am really depressed about this and am thinking of switching medications or just getting off the zyprexa itself. I am also taking 20 mg. of lexapro and this has not caused a past weight gain. Please help!
Avatar n tn Most pharmacies order based on pricing/availability. You can ask them to order a specific generic if you find one doesn't help. Generics can have various fillers and there is a small variance permitted during manufacturing, but there shouldn't be a significant noticeable difference in potency. The fillers used can in some people make a difference in absorption.
Avatar m tn I took Zyprexa 5mg for 3 nights only to help with sleep, but have not taken it for 2 nights. Had really difficulty getting to sleep and my sleep was really broken up. Is this normal for this med.
