zyprexa

1623698 tn?1299161234 After seeing about 6 different doctors, including an ENT, an Internist, an Endocrinologist, my Psychiatrist, and the emergency room doctor, trying meds for allergies and nausea, I finally realized that it had to be from the Zyprexa. I've been suffering with this for 4 months. So now I am back on it and the psychiatrist says I should take it for a month and then wean off slowly. Has anyone else experienced this horror?
1082697 tn?1260064616 i am taking citalopram and zyprexa for depression. i am on vicodin for shoulder pain. since i have been on the pills i have not needed my pain pillls. i am wondering if anyone has experienced this. did the depression cause my pain? i have not had any bad side affects on the zyprexa. in fact i have so much energy now. i tend to get into deep depression so bad i can hardly get out of bed. i have been taking the zyprexa for about 4 weeks now. the doctor put me on since my citalopram needed a boost.

Avatar m tn I have been taking Zyprexa 5 mg along with Prozac 60 mg for the past 3 months. I have been on Prozac for the past 12 years. On Zyprexa I began to experience Edema and weight gain, which was not great considering I have battled an eating disorder for the past 18 years. I called my doctor and he told me to just stop taking the zyprexa and the edema would go away. I asked him if I should wean down and he said no that there are no withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar m tn OK, I will try to consult with my doctor for Zyprexa (Olanzapine). Wikipedia said FDA approved it for only Mania in bipolar patients not for depression. But I think antipsychotics also reduce depression by looking at the experiences of different people. Can Risperidone also work like Zyprexa? I am currently on it with an anti depressant.
Avatar m tn Hi I would like to know if after three years of taking low doses of sertraline 25 mg and 2.5 mg of Zyprexa the nausea and dizziness I feel can be due to the discontinuation of the meds. I was prescribed due to a depresion an chronic anxiety conduct. I also experience a bbit of tingling in my hands and feet that goes on and off switching around.
Avatar n tn Zyprexa can cause drowsiness when you first start taking it as can Lithium. It takes time for the body to adjust but if after a couple of weeks she is still very sleepy it would be worth discussing the Zyprexa again. Lithium is different for everyone but can cause drowsiness when you first start it, although that doesn't mean it definitely will. I found I was drowsy for the first couple of weeks.
Avatar m tn agitated than it is manic, per se, The Zyprexa works well for this, except for its notorious weight-gain side effects. I just can't handle the weight issues. Does anyone know of a another drug, that perhaps comes in a rapid-release form, that would make sense as a replacement for the Zyprexa? I'd prefer to take something that can be used on the as needed basis. I will ask my doctor, of course, but wanted to see about other people's experiences. Thanks!
1082697 tn?1260064616 It may not be that the Zyprexa is making you peppy, but rather that since it is controling your depression which makes us lathargic and sleepy that it seems that way. I glad it's working for you. I have heard people say negitive things about Zyprexa because they claim it made them gain weight, but I don't think those people were on a good diet or working out. You have to do that to keep the fat off.
Avatar m tn In January of this year I began using Zyprexa for bipolar and psychosis. After 5 months of using the medication (20mg daily) I began experiencing some sexual side effects such as a dry orgasm, low sperm count, etc. - all of which were unexplainable. My psychiatrist asked that i stop the zyprexa immediately as it was causing an increase in prolactin levels, he asked that i stop the drug COLD TURKEY! (no weaning off) - When I stopped the medication, i did not sleep for 4 days.
Avatar n tn Ask your family doctor for xanax or klonopin to deal with the symptoms...
1082697 tn?1260064616 Zyprexa can be effective for depression when combined with an antidepressant. My Psychiatrist was thinking about it for me, but I told him no and that he would have to be more creative with his meds. (I'm just not a big fan of any anti-psychotic drugs for depression and anxiety) I had my Psych prescribe me a strong Tri-cyclic and 900Mgs a day of Lithium then added Klonopin for the anxiety.
Avatar m tn t think there is any direct health risk (heart attack for example) for skipping 2-3 doses. Zyprexa have a relatively long half-life that can be more than 48 hour. The side-effects you can get from skipping doses are more neurobiological, excess dopamine for example that could produce schizophrenia symptoms, psychosis if you are treated for schizophrenia or had psychotic episodes before. 5790942 tn?1374334321 There is no magic pill or cure for w/ds unfortunately and sometimes, people make choices to take medications that can cause other problems (like Oxy mentioned) or they take high doses of a medication to stave off w.ds that also cause risks. There are some meds that can help symptomatically treat w/ds that are pretty low risk and non addictive. To look for something to take it away completely though just isn't realistic.
Avatar f tn I also read somewhere in the internet that there were lawsuits against manufacturers of Zyprexa for using the medication for off label use and apparently covering up data that the medication causes diabetes. I am just curious how freely is Zyprexa prescribed for anxiety disorders outside Australia? I will certainly discuss this with my doctor when I see him next, but I welcome anyone who has more knowledge on this matter. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Hi there... Hate to be the bearer of bad news but you are in for one hell of a ride. I was on Zyprexa which is in the same class of drugs called atypical antipsychotics. You should have never been prescribed this for sleep. It is primarily used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorders and are commonly called mood stabilizers. I was prescribed Zyprexa for GAD or general anxiety disorder and told it was a good non addictive choice since I wanted of benzo's like xanax.
5093508 tn?1390543931 I am weaning off valium & zopiclone (ambien). Yes, it's very difficult on some days, to stick to the weaning off plan, but I am doing it, as I really want to get off these 2 meds. I even try to take less than what my psychiatrist has prescribed. I've researched the different ways people react while tapering their meds, especially these 2. So OK, it says anxiety, depression, anger, nausea etc.
Avatar n tn My psychiatrist has just added Zyprexa to take with Prozac as the Prozac is not working like it used to work.I'm worried about the weight gain with Zyprexa, is there something else that could be used with the Prozac instead? Also until now I've also been taking 1 mg. Ativan in the morning and 1 mg Ativan before bed. Is it safe to use Ativan with the Zyprexa?
Avatar f tn This thread to harm zyprexa users. This discussion is not useful.
Avatar n tn placed me on Abilify and my heart palpitation was so severe that I had to go back on Zyprexa. I am taking 1.5 mg of kolonopin for anxiety and 2.5 mg of zyprexa now.Tried to cut out the medication completely but my simptoms returned so I can't do without any medication. Are there any other medication in the market that is similar to Zyprexa that would not effect my liver enzyme? Used Efexor but had heart palpitation.
739988 tn?1386672969 I like the Zyprexa because it works really well for me. I guess I am just wondering if there is anyone else out there like me?
559058 tn?1215810834 I'm bp, been on Zyprexa for 5 yrs off and on, gained weight of course, and know that it has tons of other side effects. But I know Depakote is not without side effects either -- like constipation, liver damager etc. What's worse? Plus, I know it causes weight gain also. What do you guys think? Thanks!
1257808 tn?1322762215 Since I increased Zyprexa to 20mg, I became sleep for very long time. Most of the day sleep or sleepy. I'm not sure what to do. Continue on this dose (20mg) until my body deal with it or decrease the dose to 15mg.
1030383 tn?1338460785 I'm withdrawing from Zyprexa, Abilify, Ativan and sertraline. It's been three weeks and I've had terrible nausea, stomach pain, fatigue, and generally not feeling good. How long will this last? And, any ideas on how to deal with mania since I can't just "knock myself out" like usual? I need to get enough sleep to stay out of the hospital!
Avatar n tn I was wondering if anyone on this website is taking zyprexa for racing thoughts and irritability. I started taking it in December for these symptoms but I have put on weight taking this drug. I am not sure if it is the drug itself or if my appetite has increased. In anycase, I am really depressed about this and am thinking of switching medications or just getting off the zyprexa itself. I am also taking 20 mg. of lexapro and this has not caused a past weight gain. Please help!
Avatar m tn I took Zyprexa 5mg for 3 nights only to help with sleep, but have not taken it for 2 nights. Had really difficulty getting to sleep and my sleep was really broken up. Is this normal for this med.
1655289 tn?1326042889 I'm curious if anyone is taking Topamax for bipolar? I've read it helps with weight loss too. I'm currently taking Zyprexa causing me to gain 45lbs, I want to ask my doctor if I can switch from Zyprexa to Topamax for my bipolar II. I'd love any feedback on either drug and how it affected you.
