Zyprexa for adhd

Common Questions and Answers about Zyprexa for adhd

zyprexa

Avatar f tn All of them do not involve medication. Speaking of medication - non of the meds your son is taking are for ADHD. But ADHD and SIDS also have very common symptoms. Hope some of this helps. I will be glad to try and answer any other questions. But please check out our SIDS site - it is very, very good.
Avatar f tn Why would a doctor prescribe a child with ADHD, Ritalin LA , Strattera and Zyprexa?
Avatar n tn he currently is only on Adderall and Zyprexa ...the Adderall is extremely helpfull for his focusing in school but, the Zyprexa, which is suppose to help with sleep and calm his temper is making him sleep soon but, has no effect on his temper and has made him even more aggressive!!! He always has had a problem with sleeping and violent tempter outburst shown towards my husband and I (ODD to parents only~~to others he is a "saint") could you suggest anything else we could do...
Avatar n tn All the articles and studies I can find on zyprexa are strictly for schizophrenia. Can you tell me why he may have been put on 10 mg of zyprexa?
Avatar f tn Those are some heavy duty drugs. Im not expert but if the adhd drugs hype him up it may not be adhd. Adhd drugs if a child truly has it wont do that. There are some sensory disorders that can mimic adhd and bipolar and you may want to research that. But definitely see another dr, even if you have to see 2,3,4,or 5 to get to the bottom of things. I had to go through 4 drs before I found one that was right. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn In my experience, its not so much the testing that is important as the treatment afterward. In both cases - pre and post - I would go to doctors who are experienced in working with ADHD. All too often girls get overlooked because they are not the hyper little boys running around. So it does take an experienced doctor to correctly diagnose ADD. That doctor should also be able to then point you to another doctor who will do more then just medicate.
Avatar n tn Vyvanse and Tenex for the ADHD and Risperdal and Lamictal for Bipolar. He also takes Melentonin to help him sleep. This combination of drugs to help him has been wonderful. They all seem to compliment each other.

Avatar n tn My stepson is 14years old and has been diagnosed with bipolar and ADHD, obstinant defient since he was 5. I have only been a part of his life for 2 years but in that 2 years time he has been fairly stable on his medication, at our house. His mother on the other hand has delt with multiple outburst, destructive behavior, running away from her and so on, where her only recourse is to hold him until he calms down.
Avatar m tn Hi (sorry in advance for the long post), I am a twenty year old male in Las Vegas and have been struggling with mental health problems for my whole life, but only realizing my thoughts were abnormal for the past 2 ½ years. I was first diagnosed as a child with anxiety but we thought nothing of it.
Avatar f tn I'm not a doctor but I am a psychotherapist, and I have been on antidepressant medication myself. Based on my experience as both a therapist and a patient, I don't know of any way to eliminate the side effects that you are experiencing without discontinuing the medication. Side effects go hand-in-hand with therapeutic effects. If you want the one, you take the other.
Avatar m tn OK, I will try to consult with my doctor for Zyprexa (Olanzapine). Wikipedia said FDA approved it for only Mania in bipolar patients not for depression. But I think antipsychotics also reduce depression by looking at the experiences of different people. Can Risperidone also work like Zyprexa? I am currently on it with an anti depressant.
Avatar m tn Started .5 mg of Zyprexa for anxiety.
Avatar m tn I am gathering resource material for www, attentiondeficithyperactivedisorder.

Avatar f tn I HAVE A 10 YEAR OLD SON, HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH POSSIBLE BIPOLAR DISORDER, ADHD AND ODD. HE HAS BEEN GOING TO A PSYCHOLOGIST SINCE HE WAS 3 YEARS OLD AND IS ON A MED NAMED ZYPREXA. MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE TRIED PARENTING CLASSES AND NUMEROUS OTHER TACTICS WHICH DIDN'T WORK. AS HE GETS OLDER, EVERYTIME HE IS TOLD NO ABOUT SOMETHING HE GETS VERY VIOLENT WITH MY HUSBAND AND I. I WANT TO KNOW HOW I SHOULD DISCIPLINE A CHILD THAT GETS THAT ANGRY SO IT DOESN'T GET TO THAT POINT?
Avatar n tn Diagnosis of any emotional or menatl disorder is performed by applying standard diagnostic criteria and, if diagnostic critera are met, ruling out other possible explanations for the symptoms. ADHD sometimes occurs without the presence of any additional conditions, but it also exists alongside other conditions (e.g., Mood Disorder, other Disruptive Behavior Disorders) in many patients.
791606 tn?1240593511 Ok...i'm only going to take the 2.5 for now on...I'm getting all the house work done...yippie!!! Hearing that buzzing again in my ears...and lots of thoughts buzzing around.
222267 tn?1253302210 I believe we are seeing this huge TREND in Bipolar diagnosis these days. I would say in the last 10 years. People are being improperly diagnosed and it's sad to think people are on medications that could potentially harm them. In the 90's it was ADD or ADHD. Did you know that Zyprexa kills 1 in 125 people? Wow! That is astonishing to me. The fact that the FDA knew about this and approved it, is horrible to say the least.

Avatar m tn My 22 yr old son started w/ 2.5 mg of zyprexa and worked up to 20 mg's while in the hospital recently. He is a psychotic breakdown on Aug 27th 2015. He has been on 20 mg's for about 10 days now. Dillusions much worse since on zyprexa. He also has a condition called Velo Cardio Facial Syndrome & is very sensitive to most meds. Hard to medicate.
Avatar n tn i have a concern with the medication his Dr. has prescribed. He has prescribed (10mg.) ADDERALL 3x daily for the ADHD which I can understand, but has also prescribed a drug of SEROQUEL (100mg) 3x daily for his BIPOLAR disorder. I am concerned with the safety of this drug for this child. All of the information I find regarding SEROQUEL states studies relating to this drug have only been in people 18 yrs of age and over.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with schizoaffective and adult adhd. I take abilify and citalopram for the schizoaffective disorder and vyvanse for the adhd symptoms. I find that since i have been given adhd meds, my condition has stabilized completely. I was not well on the schizoaffective meds alone. i still had problems concentrating and with focus .As well as social problems and listening to others and paying attention.
