Zyprexa and seroquel together

Common Questions and Answers about Zyprexa and seroquel together

zyprexa

Avatar m tn What about zyprexa and latuda? I am currently taking zyprexa and clozaril and want to switch the clozaril because of heavy side effects. What is my best option in terms of new medicines?
1021784 tn?1306363011 s possible to be able to take Clozaril and Zyprexa together to help control my symptoms of Schizoaffective Disorder - Bipolar Subtype?
Avatar n tn I have only cut the zyprexa down to 5mg every night in that I take in addition to 300mg of seroquel. It would seem that the addition of 300mg of seroquel would help me to sleep and would make up for having cut the zyprexa dose in half. The only answer I have been able to make for this dilemma is that perhaps my body is just so used to the ingredients of the zyprexa that I would have to wean myself off it very slowly.
Avatar f tn I did not think it had something to do with zyprexa, because i never got notably sleepy of it. So now i have been on 25mg seroquel for 2 months, and i cant sleep with out! even if i tok a small dose of seroquel, the 25 mg dose, i still had/have problems to sleep....... I have never had problems quitting antipsychotics before, but now i have real problems.... Im back at squer one... And the ******* worst of all, that zyprexa did not work on me!!!
Avatar m tn Hi there. I'm sorry that I don't have an answer to your question. I am a fellow OCD sufferer and not a doctor. I guess I have to ask why your doctor would prescribe seroquel when you have used zyprexa in the past. Were you struggling with your OCD despite the medication regimen?
698408 tn?1256958348 If given a choice between an antipsychotic (Zyprexa) and a mood stabilizer (Depakoate) I would choose Depakoate. Zyprexa does have the risk of tardive dyskinesia. If a person needs an antipsychotic of course they have to take one but Depakoate does not have that risk. Zyprexa also has a severe risk for diabetes. All of the atypicals do but Zyprexa is most likely to.
520191 tn?1355635402 Thank you so much. I currently take 300mg seroquel but it hasn't done much for me apart makes me sleep which is really important to me, but i would really like the mixed mood to improve so i will talk to my doc about decreasing seroquel to 100mg and trying zyprexa and see what she says. the reason i like this doc is because she isn't all about medication and will give alternative to medication such as supplements which i like.
Avatar f tn ve just lost forty of the EIGHTY pounds that I gained in the blink of an eye while on zyprexa and seroquel. I am really nervous about trying geodon. No, not nervous - terrified. I have refused to take anything but lithium for years because zyprexa and seroquel destroyed my body. I do not want to play Russian roulette with drugs but I don't see another alternative. If anyone has had a good experience with geodon please share it with me!
Avatar n tn So I took both drugs at the same time(pharmicist said it woulnt be harmful, just pointless since they both do the same thing, and it could make you real sleepy.) After getting some seroquel in me, i tapered off the zyprexa slowly and successfully. The doc. was dead wrong. My sleep isnt fantastic, but i can sleep without aid and for 12 hours if I wanted to. Now, I am still taking the seroquel. But my goal is to be free of this burden, the magic pill.
Avatar f tn What should me and the Mother do? Will it be best to take him off of Zyprexa? Will Zyprexa wipe away his memory for good? After he gets well, will he remember anything and go back to being normal? Should we take him out of the hospital and just giving him counseling?
Avatar n tn however, the psychiatrist who diagonsed me with Bipolar put me on lexapro and zyprexa. Now I take Cymbalta and Zyprexa, but I recently decided to stop taking the Zyprexa. I'm a medical student so I wanted to stop the Zyprexa because I was sleeping too much. My physician claims there shouldn't be any problems not taking the Zyprexa, but I find that I can't sleep without it.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I have tried Seroquel, Seroquel XR, Zyprexa, and Lithium, all in the space of a few weeks... I thought that they were causing me to cycle harder, but I have realized that I am getting the akathisia side effect from them.. When the sun is down, they bring up my mood, but when it's bright out, I get very agitated.. All of these drugs have this side effect as they work on dopamine. I am at a loss right now; has anyone else had this problem? I am slowly running out of medications...
874521 tn?1424116797 t find Neurontin and Topomax to be quite that effective but from what when I was put on them they are generally used as adjuncts. Risperdal, Seroquel and Zyprexa generally have the strongest mood stabilization effect out of the antipsychotics. Many people have had a bad experience with SSRI anti-depressents worsening mania so psychiatrists tend to use them with caution but you could to his psychiatrist more about that.
Avatar n tn I have taken Zyprexa before and I do not suggest that you use this medicine as a sleeping agent. After I stopped taking it I could not sleep either, but I went to my psychiatrist and they put me on a regimen that allowed me to sleep again.
Avatar n tn Is 1200mg seroquel, 10 mg Prozac, lithium 300mg, zyprexa 10mg plus aitvan 1mg a too high or too much dosage for a 22 year old male.
Avatar n tn Then we started slowly tapering Zyprexa to 5 mg and the situation was still the same. Not betther and not worse. Then my pdoc changed Zyprexa for Seroquel 25 mg and he sad that I should sleep after them. But I couldn't. my question is: could withrowal (cold turkey) from Risperidone did some neurological damage to my brain that I just can not sleep anymore. Thank you for your answer!
337492 tn?1212458836 I have a BP friend that started Seroquel almost a month ago and she is still having sedative side effects. She takes 50mg twice a day and 200mg at bedtime. She is concerned about this side effect continuing and wants to feel peppy in order to start back to work. Will this sleepy side effect subside. She sleeps throughout the day. Thanks!
Avatar f tn i was diagnosed with bipolar 6 years ago after a head injury and was taking zyprexa. Soon after, I was hospitalized with pancreatitis. The doctors immediatly took me off the zyprexa. Since then I have quit all alcohol and never did take drugs. I am currently taking Lexapro, but i don't feel it is what i need. I am constantly tierd, gaining weight, have constant muscle pain, especially in my feet and legs. I still suffer from mood swings, the ups and downs.
Avatar m tn Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.
Avatar f tn i gained a lot of weight from Zyprexa and Seroquel. I took all these antipsychotics one after another when each one failed or I had bad side effects. My psychiatrist took me off the meds when I gained too much weight too fast, restless feet or whatever. If a medication is really helping me, then he usually prescribes me a drug to combat the side effect if one is available.
874521 tn?1424116797 From what I remember Depakoate and Zyprexa both were extremely sedating for me and Depakoate in general works better on mania than depression. But its better to wait to speak to his psychiatrist before making any changes. Abilify is an antipsychotic that is the least sedating and Lamictal is less sedating than Depakoate and works better on depression. You could ask his psychiatrist about that.
