zyprexa

1655289 tn?1326042889 I'm curious if anyone is taking Topamax for bipolar? I've read it helps with weight loss too. I'm currently taking Zyprexa causing me to gain 45lbs, I want to ask my doctor if I can switch from Zyprexa to Topamax for my bipolar II. I'd love any feedback on either drug and how it affected you.
559058 tn?1215810834 I'm bp, been on Zyprexa for 5 yrs off and on, gained weight of course, and know that it has tons of other side effects. But I know Depakote is not without side effects either -- like constipation, liver damager etc. What's worse? Plus, I know it causes weight gain also. What do you guys think? Thanks!
1082697 tn?1260064616 Sounds like that Celexa was pooping out on you and you needed the Zyprexa to jump start it. Same thing has happened to me on more than a few antidepressants. Lithium also makes for a good booster drug, but most people don't try it as an add on because they think it's only for Bi-polar.
Avatar f tn Well i'm on a thing called symbyax. Which is basically Zyprexa and prozac in one pill. It has helped me out alot. My moods seem to be balanced out now. But i have gained weight so i don't know if its something that you want to be one. Personally i needed to gain the weight.
739988 tn?1386672969 My neurologist put me on topomax for headaches. I am also on cymbalta and zyprexa and klonopin for bipolar and anxiety. My questions are: Is topomax an antidepressant? Does topomax really help you lose weight? and Does topomax make you lose your hair? (the pharmacist said taking Folic Acid would reduce this effect, will it? and how much?) Thanks for all of your help.
739988 tn?1386672969 Try 6 small meals a day with a protien and carb in small portions. I take ayprexa and I have lost 46 pounds and I am not diabetic I love my zyprexa and I am not going to give it up. I did gain weight at first on it but I have since lost the weight. It is possible to keep the weight off on zyprexa.
874521 tn?1424116797 It should be noted the NMDA receptor modulates antipsychotics which are in Phase II FDA study will cause neither side effect and the company developed Zyprexa is researching a medication in that class. Its good to know the short term and long term side effect profile of any medications but the lawsuits that are on television or other places tend to overstate long term side effects for their potential gain.
Avatar m tn Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.
616450 tn?1228433627 I've been taking Zyprexa at bedtime for the past few nights, per Endo #3, and I feel a lot better, folks. As a matter of fact, I felt better almost immediately after taking the first dose. It seems to act quick, like Xanax, but stays in the bloodstream longer or something. Dr. Pretorius was concerned that I was getting a little too used to Xanax, so he wants me to try to gradually come off of that and he'll increase the Zyprexa dosage.

1082697 tn?1260064616 The pains are real enough. So is the nausea and dizziness and the loss of appetite, but all could be symtoms of depression. I once had strong pain killers that brough on depression. Best to get it all looked at though. Can't help being like this. Well done if you think you are able to quit smoking. Now you look after yourself. Keep in touch with the people here.
Avatar m tn Yes. I wad on geodon it did make me very irritable and hard to get a long with. I have a very bad tempter and aggression. I would also have screaming fits. I had been taking it for 5 year till I found out I needed emergency gal bladder surgery. The doctors didn't want to admit it was that but I always felt sick on ths medication.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I took both seroquel and zyprexa for a number of years and had a problem with my legs. I was diagnosed with restless legs syndrome (medication related - a form of akathasia apparantly, or can be). The doctors prescribed other drugs to alleviate this problem, and it worked, unfortunately the drugs he gave me to combat the side effects were actually addictive and now I have the problem of giving those up too.
874521 tn?1424116797 From what I remember Depakoate and Zyprexa both were extremely sedating for me and Depakoate in general works better on mania than depression. But its better to wait to speak to his psychiatrist before making any changes. Abilify is an antipsychotic that is the least sedating and Lamictal is less sedating than Depakoate and works better on depression. You could ask his psychiatrist about that.
Avatar m tn m not as mentally crisp as i used to be and the depression and anxiety are getting worse but are under control with medication. i have dry skin and hair, i get nubmess in my hands, and then there is my weight creeping up.
Avatar m tn Hi I would like to know if after three years of taking low doses of sertraline 25 mg and 2.5 mg of Zyprexa the nausea and dizziness I feel can be due to the discontinuation of the meds. I was prescribed due to a depresion an chronic anxiety conduct. I also experience a bbit of tingling in my hands and feet that goes on and off switching around.
Avatar n tn So see, it does not work by it self because when my mania got bad enough I got diagnosed BP. However, I enjoy it as a suppliment and it is wonderful for skin, nails, hair and your heart! Every doctor I have asked said, only as a suppliment not a treatment for BP. BTW, Zyprexa made me dizzy like crazy, did not like it. Amazing how all of us need different drugs to control this crazy thing.
Avatar f tn I took Atenolol and down went my BP. I felt terribly weak and awful and could not stay awake. I went to the pharmacy who took my BP for free and found it very low. Doctor halved my medication.
Avatar f tn Only in the past 20 days, hair fall has gone up. Does hair straightening dry out the hair causing lack of moisture and thus hair fall?? I truly hope that this is temporary as you mentioned!!
Avatar f tn I just finished Sovaldi and olysio and no hair loss at all, in fact hair looked great I do have hypothyroid which is familial, mother , daughters have it, Check your thyroid levels That can effect hair loss, dryness etc( even my eye brows and under arms thinned from hypothyroidism ) You may need to be on thyroid medication such as synthyroid if it is off
Avatar m tn Topamax was prescribed to counteract the weight gain from Zyprexa and then Abilify. I am going to see my pdoc about my metformin venture. I had a saliva test done recently and found my seritonin level was extremely low. Started Deplin and 5HTP and stopped all AD's what a difference.
Avatar f tn My hair has ALWAYS been so thick and moisturized and healthy and now its dry and frizzy and falling out! Its awful im so embarrassed it literally never stops falling out.
Avatar n tn If your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treatment thyroid disease. Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance. Correcting the hormone imbalance may stop your hair loss. Many women notice hair loss about 3 months after they've had a baby. This loss is also related to hormones.
Avatar f tn Does Lithium cause Hair Loss? I just recently started it and I was wondering if it could be the reason my hair is breaking off so bad...I'm 22 I'd rather keep my hair...
