Firstly just because a side effect doesn't usually happen doesn't mean it can't occur and also it might be an interaction with the Celexa. They should look all this up in the pharmacy database that only physicians have access to. In the meantime you could go to the medication websites yourself or ask your pharmacist. They should definitely check into the interactions between the two as that might be a possibility. Zyprexa was quite sedating for so yes that is more typical though.

I am on zyprexa and celexa for my bi polar and they work great. I did gain in the beginning but I have lost it through exercise and 6 healthy meals a day. you can keep from gaining on the zyprexa. Plus I decided that I would rather be stable with the weight than skinny and in jail.

I take Effexor XR, Celexa and Risperdal. When the p-doc added the Celexa I had mania for a week. I have been on this cocktail for a couple of months and only one other issue with mania but it only lasted 3-4 days and was not too severe. I can tell you my depression is 100 times better with the additional anti- depressant. Best of luck to you and I hope you find success with the new cocktail.

I've been taking Zyprexa at bedtime for the past few nights, per Endo #3, and I feel a lot better, folks. As a matter of fact, I felt better almost immediately after taking the first dose. It seems to act quick, like Xanax, but stays in the bloodstream longer or something. Dr. Pretorius was concerned that I was getting a little too used to Xanax, so he wants me to try to gradually come off of that and he'll increase the Zyprexa dosage.

Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.

i stay in these depressions forever if i do not go the doctors. recently my doctor put me on zyprexa . i am on celexa already now for about 10 years at least . the doctor added the zyprexa. now i know it can cause weight gain and can make you sleepy. well, it is doing the opposite with me. i have so much energy and cannot sit still. i sleep good at night for about 6 hours. i do have to watch what i eat.

I like to lift weights as well to keep shaped and toned.No sodas and caffienes and sugar.Fill up on fruits and veggies yougurts and such. you can do it I have gone from 225 to 201 on this regimen. it is jsut a little harder for us to loose weight but it can be done.

I dont take effexor but I take celexa and zyprexa in the evening and my syn throid in the am. you want to take them at least 4 hours apart. you dont want anything interfereing with the synthroid absorption.I will tell you since I have been on synthroid I am now on the lowest dose of my meds. I am bi polar so I am too scared to stop my head meds but I am doing well on the low doses.

Thanks somuch for the advice, I'm going to talk him about switching some meds up because this it's driving me nuts! He's slowly taking Mr of the celexa since I've been on it for quite a while. And this month was when I was finally diagnosed, and was put on the abilify which is an antipsychotic. I should ask him about seroquel. Thanks again!

When I had episode 3 ,I thought I had found the lord and I was healed of bi polar and didnt need to take my meds anymore so episode 3 happened and I was back in the hospital back with the same pdoc and he put me back on the zyprexa,celexa, as well as tegretol. I then went back to the pdoc I found after episode2 I told I didnt think I needed the tegretol any more but we decided to stay on the celexa,zyprexa combo and it works great. I know that is confusing .

the other 3 I cant remember but it made me feel so doped up I switched docs and and she put me on 2 celexa and zyprexa and they have worked wonderful for me. No dopey drugged feeling. Just nice stable everyday normal living. Its seems to me that alot of docs tend to overprescribe when all is need for bi polar is a good mood stabilizer and a good anti depressant I could be wrong since I am not a doc . I am just a bi polar (in remission lol)who has been on alot of meds.

Been prescribed Celexa but Doc is considering that I might have bipolar 2, not unipolar depression. I'm concerned about 'switching' - if it were to happen how long would it take to see effects from taking the first tablet?

Ever since i started my zyprexa[antipshychotic] and celexa. effexor[antidepressants] my sex drive and errectionsare weak. is there anything i can take or do to help this?

One without the other will tip you into the opposite direction. I have done superbly well on zyprexa and celexa. they balance out the 2 poles and give me a wonderfully stable life.

I'm interested to hear of successful weaning stories--of people getting off zyprexa and for how long you have been off the medicine. This is my goal and I could use some encouragement. All the doctors and therapists I have spoken to say that it is extremely risky to go off medication and think that all symptoms of mental illness will return. Do those of us who want to be medication free have any hope? Are there any natural remedies that help with bipolar disorder?

I have been prescribed Paxil,Zyprexa,Effexor,Cymbalta, Prozac, Wellbutrin, Lexapro,Celexa, Zoloft, and probably something I have forgotton. These anti-depressants did little or nothing other than lighten my wallet. To be honest,the best results that I have experienced has been taking self injections of testosterone. I am male,55 yrs. old and found that my testosterone levels were very low. The injections give me more energy,less fatigue, stronger libido, and a better sense of wellbeing.

I dont know anything about the same you might talk to your doc about tht too. I have done so well with the celexa and zyprexa so I jsut take them and get on with it. good luck and let me know what your doc says.

I have a few post on here, I was on Celexa for 8 years Ambilfy 8 years before that Welbutron, Zoloft and more. While on Celexa they added Ambien Klonopin I know Celexa is a SSRI drug, I read that without someone telling me You do not mix medications in the SSRI or other extra. I also read on the pdf from Celxa that it stated. That let it be noted Clexa was not to be treated for bipolar depression yet I get it could be and the recomendation dosage for Celexa is 20mg I was on 40 not all the time.

I also had thyroid cancer and I have no thyroid. I am also bi polar so I was already on celexa/ zyprexa before my surgery. My endo wouldnt put me on armour because there seems to be a highter risk for the cancer to come back and armour he said would aggravate this. He also kept my TSH aounud 1 and that is where I feel my best at. Everyone is different so you have to keep tweaking your med till you find what is best for you. I have been on celexa for quite some time now.

I was on methadone for over 7 years, have been off since mid March and I have been sick, nauseated anxious and depressed ever since, I can't take it anymore. My doctor just put me on Celexa and it has only been 3 days and I am going out of my mind, my symptoms are magnified x 10! Don't know what to do, can't make it through the day barely! He said I may feel worse for a couple of days but this is unbelieveable. Please help.

Try 6 small meals a day with a protien and carb in small portions. I take ayprexa and I have lost 46 pounds and I am not diabetic I love my zyprexa and I am not going to give it up. I did gain weight at first on it but I have since lost the weight. It is possible to keep the weight off on zyprexa.

I will add that bi polar needs to be treated with both and antidepressant and a mood stabilzer so I take zyprexa as well and this combo works quite well for me. As Iladvocate says talk to your doc You and your doc will be able to come up with the right combo for you. Dont despair, there is one that will work for you. I went through lots of meds before I got on my present combo and I am blessed that they both work so well to keep me stable.

I only take 5 mg of zyprexa and 5 mg of celexa. she needs to talk to her doc about what is going on . that seems like way too much med.

Talk to your doc about the thyroid and see if there is a different med you can get on. I take celexa and zyprexa and they work great for me. I have lost the weight I gained initially on the zyprexa with 6 small meals a day and walking with my dog every evening. I take my meds at night and they help with my sleep too.
