) zopiclone is not meant to be a long term thing because your body will learn to sleep only if you take the pill. This is why your struggling. But if you taper, you may find sleep doesn't come as well as if you took your normal dose but your body will start to sleep naturally again in time - the sooner you stop these the better / quicker you'll sleep naturally again. I used to use them only at times when I needed to sleep and I was still awake due to anxiety after like 2am.
It's meant to be a better vision of escitalopram as I'm in the uk they don't do lexapro it's cipralex here I'm on day 5 and no better yet just want things to start working really iv been told up to 2 weeks but can be as soon as 6-8 days the only side effect is the insomnia and not being able to sleep that's why iv been given zopiclone for that but don't want to have to depend on it for a long time, iv been through all this before on many different anti depressants wit
m not deliberately being argumentative I was just clarifying toa nybody reading that the combination of Zopiclone and Trazodone should not cause concern if they have been prescribed it or indeed have otherwise taken it around the doses specified, I merely mean to put peoples minds at rest who could have been a bit worried after the reply)

The risk of dependency on zopiclone when used for less than 2 weeks or only used occasionally is low. However, this is disputed by one study of low dose zopiclone taken for only 7 nights. It found that discontinuation of zopiclone caused significant rebound insomnia. Furthermore when midazolam taken for 7 nights was discontinued no rebound insomnia occurred suggesting that zopiclone may have even more significant problems of tolerance and dependence than the benzodiazepines.
Mirtrazipine and veneflaxine can cause seizures but it's rare. Zopiclone on the other hand could result in seizures if you skip doses. Zopiclone is usually used for short-term relief even tho it's not a benzodiazepine, it is quite the same procedure.

Try and cut down a 7.5mg a week , till you get it down to 3 /7.
You do not need to taper Zopiclone. You can take it as needed whenever you want. You can stop it it without adverse consequences (other than insomnia, of course). I do encourage you to continue your gabapentin, however. It is a very helpful medication for a few months after the withdrawal of opiates. Good for you for quitting. Stay strong!

Actually, it's not a good idea to quit zopiclone cold turkey as it acts in a similar manner to a benzo & quitting CT from a year's use at a high dose could risk seizures & will probably be pretty uncomfortable.
Quitin is right about the risk of continuing to take these drugs. In combination at these doses, there is a strong risk of respiratory depression, i.e. you may stop breathing, as happened to Heath Ledger, among others.
If these two drugs are cross tollerant will your physical addiction will just swap over and you'll go into withdrawl once you stop taking the zopiclone, even though zopiclone is not a benzo?
I am taking zopiclone 1/2 of a 7.5 mg tablet. I would like to stop taking this medication. Can I use glycine powder to help me get off of the zopiclone?

Thanks for writing in. Your symptoms are not related to the drug zopiclone.
Even comedy, like Bo Burhnam type things. Right now you HAVE to surround yourself with positive. Not saying that your not, but right now make a concious effort to literally put happy things in front of you. I know this sounds a little dumb, but I swear, I used music to push myself and just try to cope with the messed up thoughts going on in my head. These thoughts aren't real....there blown out of proportion thoughts that your brain is giving you because it wants you to use again!
August 2013. I know zopiclone is a non benzo "z class" drug. Question: in the category for benzo's in the UDS IS ZOPICLONE INCLUDED IN THIS CLASS.?
I've been taking zopiclone to help me sleep which I think it works but only getting about 3-4 hours sleep from them... I came of zopiclone tablets yesterday and found it really hard to get any sort of sleep but I don't want to live my life through taking them...
