1577473 tn?1296177286 Hello, I am a 21 year old college student and I have had the occasional migraine all my life. In September I started getting migraines more frequently. I had a really nasty one that forced me to go to a walk in clinic for some immediate care. I got a shot of Torridol that didn't work and a prescription for 100 mg Imitrex. The Imitrex didn't even touch the migraine and I wasn't happy with the side effects.

1402028 tn?1280858335 While light sensitivity can be reduced by avoiding sunlight, closing the eyes, wearing dark glasses, or darkening the room, the cause for the light sensitivity should be determined. Migraine headaches respond well to both abortive and preventive medications. Imaging modalities such as CTscan may help determine the underlying cause. Take care and do keep us posted.
561706 tn?1333947274 I have been having bouts of double vision for the past year. I have been screened for MS and a brain tumor. Doctor's stuck. Has anyone had a problem with this, too. I used to have migranes years ago, but my aura was a different kind of visual disturbance. I don't get very bad headaches with these episodes but my head starts to hurt some of the time. Thanks.

Avatar f tn The pain seemed to emanate from my shoulder and neck. I was treated at the E.R. for the migraine but nothing worked and I was sent home. I have had a headache EVERY day since then. The pain in my shoulder is daily and increases with use of my right arm, tingling and numbness down my arm to my finger tips are apparent when I turn my head toward the right.
Avatar f tn d feel more confident if the neurologist actually would acknowledge that Chiari CAN be responsible for my symptoms, ugh. Thanks for any input!
15422595 tn?1440452745 Hello and thanks in advance for any thoughts. Our 5 y.o. Basset/Beagle mix was officially pegged with epilepsy about 2 months ago after she started having multiple seizures in a day. She was initially put on Zonisamide but after 2 weeks, she had a couple more seizures. At that point the docs added Phenobarbital. We've had her blood tested and the PB is at the proper levels in her system. The good news is she's not had any seizures since then...
735676 tn?1257572226 For the past ten years I have been suffering with dibilatating migraines, insomuch that I am completely incapacitated for the duration of the migraine (lasting anywhere from a day to three or more days in a row) and oftentimes feeling completely fatigued and depressed afterward. I have tried so many different medicines and nothing seems to help relieve the pain and/or take the pain away altogether.
Avatar f tn ( Does anyone think the mgs of Zonisamide are to high for being on it for the first time? It has been since 3/24 when she had the 4 seizures, and hasn't had any since she has been on the medicine, but won't eat at all on her own, and when she does it is only a bite or two and then gets sick again. Please help if you can.
Avatar m tn t find a workable dosage of phenobartibal, you might want to ask your vet about either Dilantin, Valium, potassium bromide, felbamate, or a different type of anti-seizure medicine that can be used in conjunction with potassium bromide and/or phenobarbital together called Zonisamide. Zonisamide is totally unrelated to any of the other anticonvulsants, but, like Keppra, the full extent of its side effects is not yet known so to some vets, it is somewhat controversial to prescribe it.
Avatar n tn I have a 1 year 4 month old German Shepherd named Melo who's been having seizures since he was 1. I just wanted to share my experience because I know its comforting to hear stories of other people that are going through what you're going through, makes you feel less hopeless. Melo had 4 seizures in the span of 2 hours, he's taking 300mg of Zonisamide every 12 hours but before take refill arrived he had ran out and that's when the seizures happened.
Avatar m tn They will last between 2 to 8 weeks, so you may need to be prepared for some odd behaviour for a while. The drunk-like state needs careful supervision, particularly on the stairs, as her coordination is severely impaired and will be so for a while. Once the "therapeutic level" of phenobarbital has been found (it's a bit trial and error), the side effects should start to dissipate. Of course, the question is why did the seizures begin?
Avatar f tn Also on Vitamin D as we speak for a deficiency. What more could be done for nerve compression if this is the main contributing factor. Ice to the neck and muscle relaxers are my only relief at the moment. Is there further testing that might be warranted? Thanks again!
735676 tn?1257572226 Migraine Disease and a Migraine Attack. Migraines, for the most part, are a genetic neurological disease. Pretty much all of the time, migraine attacks are caused by the migraine disease itself and there is no other underlying cause. So, in almost all cases, nothing causes migraine but migraines. ALTHOUGH, there are exceptions.
Avatar f tn It seemed the Lyrica and Effexor combined worked for the pain, I went to a neurologist and he took me off the Lyrica, which made me gain 60lbs! lol... and put me on Zonisamide. It has been great for my pain. But now that aI have been on it awhile I am feeling sick to my stomach every morning and my head feels fuzzy. I asked if I could get off the Effexor as it was raising my blood sugar levels, I am a diabetic & Cymbalta and Effexor raises my blood sugars).
3248373 tn?1346981993 I was put on topomax for complex migranes about 7 months ago and they put me on 100 mg 50mg in the morning and 50mg at night and friday of last week they upped my dose to 200 mg because my migranes were getting worse. Today all of a sudden I am itching everywhere and its been a constant thing all day and it wont stop ! no rashes though weird but I am wondering if its the meds. But I am also on lamictal as well so is anyone else having these problems ?
Avatar f tn I have been informed I had Acid Reflux. I take Nexium for it. I also have Asthma and Epilepsy to which I take Lamictal, Zonisamide, Albuterol(when needed-which is quite rare), Claritan, and Singular. Now on another site I spotted an area that stated certain OTC meds can cause problems with Gerd.
Avatar f tn Experiencing a migraine while 7 weeks pregnant and i would normally pop a migraine pill but obviously cant. Has anypne ever taken tylenol during pregnancy? I read that it is the safest thing to take but just nervous.
Avatar m tn I'VE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 1 1/2 YRS. NOW. I MASTURBATE ALOT BECAUSE WHEN I HAVE SEX WITH MY WIFE, I LOOSE MY ERECTION. EVEN WITH MASTURBATION I TEND TO ONLY GET PARTLY ERECT IF I'M ABLE TO ACHIEVE THAT. THIS IS MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO ACHIEVE ORGASM/EJACTULATE AT ALL. MY FATHER HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. COULD THIS BE INHERITABLE? I AM 46 YRS. OLD AND MY DAD AND UROLOGIST THINKS THIS IS BECAUSE OF THE MEDICATIONS I'M ON AS FOLLOWS: 1) IBUPROFEN 800MG.
851310 tn?1238980845 A migraine attack without the classical symptoms of aura, headache and nausea is classified as atypical migraine. A silent migraine, ocular migraine etc are all examples of atypical migraine. Generally this occurs in response to weather changes, spasm of blood vessels of the brain, insufficient sleep, motion sickness and exposure to bright lights. Hope this helps. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining.
20840438 tn?1530997576 Every dog is different and you have to try a lot of anti seizure medications to find the right one, for my dog its zonisamide. I would just be patient with him, the medications confuse him and he's also restless because he's scared another seizures will happen in any moment.
Avatar n tn Beta Blockers are one class of migraine medication. I currently take a Beta Blocker for my migraines as well, called Nadolol, which is different than Inderal. A different Beta Blocker may provide the same relief that the Inderal used to provide you. The other two classes of daily preventative medications are antidepressants and anticonvulsants. It would be worth trying the class of medication that you have yet to try.
