ambien

Avatar n tn Has anyone seen anything about the use of ambien for treating brain injury? I've seen some stuff about coma recovery, but nothing on general brain injury. I suffered a cerebral hemmorhage many years ago (22) and presently suffer from short term memory trouble and visual impairment (hemianopsia). About 2 years ago, I experienced insomnia and wa sgiven ambien. Since then, I've taken approx 5mg nightly and have noticed a substantial improvement in my short term memory.
Avatar m tn My dad has been taking Zolpidem for over 3 years and recently I found out Zolpidem is used for treating short term insomnia. I'd like to know if it can be used for long term and if whether there are any medications available which can be used for long term treatment.
1218873 tn?1300091216 I take 900 mg of Gabapentin, 50mg Tramadol, 10 mg of Zolpidem (generic for Ambien). It takes 2 hrs for mine to kick in sometimes but I get about 6 hrs of undisturbed sleep. Many times, when I wake I have nerve pain in my right upper shoulder/armpit area. I have tried all sorts of over the counter sleep aides and this is the only one that doesn't make me feel yucky the next day.
Avatar m tn Look at the prescription bottle to see which company manufactured the zolpidem. For many years a pharmacy sent me 90 day supplies of zolpidem from Mylan (manufacturer) which worked well. Then one time I noticed the color of the pills had changed to white and the shape was a little different. Those pills were from Teva (manufacturer) and gave me headaches, dizziness and a general sense of unwellness.
4149717 tn?1389503561 Zolpidem Zolpidem should normally be taken for short periods of time. If you take zolpidem for 2 weeks or longer, zolpidem may not help you sleep as well as it did when you first began to take the medication. If you take zolpidem for a long time, you also may develop dependence ('addiction,' a need to continue taking the medication) on zolpidem. Talk to your doctor about the risks of taking zolpidem for 2 weeks or longer.
Avatar m tn d try one and then the other before trying them both together. For me, the ambien (zolpidem) works just fine although it does not give me long sleep time. It's not like it knocks me out for 8 hours.
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Insomnia is a side effect of Amitriptyline. But you may develop tolerance to this effect. However if it persists, discuss your symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medications. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I previously alternated between temazepam and zolpidem for sleep. I also take gabapentin. Three weeks ago I stopped temazepam and tramadol. I am taking zolpidem every night now and continue gabapentin 3x a day. I don't crave either of the meds I quit, but I have been experiencing inability to concentrate, ringing in my ears, vomiting, blurry vision, sweating, confusion, anxiety and mood swings. The symptoms wax and wane and I can't find a pattern.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Hi! I am still suffering from hypopneas and central apnea with O2 of 75% and have been sick for 4 weIeks. I've been using O2 at 5 liters/min and it makes me feel better. I found these drugs that could possibly help. I use zolpidem and it seems to help and am trying to get restoril. This disease is destroying my career and life. Thanks very much!
Avatar n tn d go straight into a panic so they started me on zolpidem 10 at night. I have been on it for 18 months now and zolpidem does not work, and I don't want to take more, so will try wean off that, but I know what will happen, back to adrenalin rushes...plus Xanax seems to have no effect, but if I don't take it, I know I have'nt, if that makes sense. Am I on too much here?
Avatar f tn i have been using ambien for many years now. i used the ambien and it's generic form zolpidem. it has always work up until two months ago when apparently the pharmacy changed suppliers. i took the little round purle pill up until then and now i take a white oval one. This one does not seem to be working as well and the side effect just seem wierd Does anyone think that the new manufacturer product is inferior and has anyone experienced this?
Avatar m tn Tapering it off is very hard but I think if I could use an alternative drug in place of Zolpidem for a little while, it would help. What is your suggestion? It would be a relief for me to hear from you soon.
18070169 tn?1463175914 At this time I was also taking zolpidem every night. I read some stuff on zolpidem side effects and it appeared that after my surgery some of the rare side effects started cropping up. I attributed my anxiety to that. So I quit the zolpidem ct (which I probably shouldn't have) and did have a miserable few weeks, but a lot of the pains I was feeling went away. Of course new pains showed up like a back ache, which I still have.
Avatar n tn Hey Via, I too have been a long time user of zolpidem and even abused it when I was w/d ing from opiates (big mistake btw). For me when I stopped and I've done this several times thru-out the years. I get 3 nights of very little sleep then my body goes back to normal. It is nothing like coming off of pain meds. You just have resign yourself that sleep will not be good for a few nights, but it will kick back in. Hope this helps. You may want to ask your Dr. about weaning.
Avatar m tn I am prescribed 12.5mg. of zolpidem but my insurance will only cover RX for 10mg. Is this safe to switch?
1564517 tn?1314346323 I recently had to switch my med doctor because of my age. I have really bad insomnia and have all my life. I'm usually okay once asleep but I cant fall asleep on my own. I was put on 100mg on seroquel but it was reduced overtime because it was causing me to sleep too much, uncontrollably. I now take 25mg at night. But it still takes around 3 hours after I take it before I fall asleep. Well the other day my new doctor put me on 10mg of Zolpidem to take at night with the seroquel....
Avatar f tn m not sure if this is the correct forum to post this in, since I have never abused medications, but I think I might be experiencing withdrawal symptoms from prescription medications, so I thought I would seek information here. I previously alternated between temazepam and zolpidem for sleep. I also take gabapentin. Three weeks ago I stopped temazepam and tramadol. I am taking zolpidem every night now and continue gabapentin 3x a day.
Avatar f tn There is lot of mixed reaction from the users of Zolpidem to help sleep, it has done wonders in few people while few are not satisfied with its use or the side effects of the drug and its dependence. Ambien is meant for short-term use and not for years. I would like to suggest you to consult a sleep doctor and discuss the other options for alternate drugs. Take care and share your thoughts.
Avatar m tn My wife has been Zolpidem (generic Ambien) for 20+ yrs. She recently took a job in China and has been told the ultrasound show 'fatty infiltration of the liver'. She is 50 yrs old and drinks only occasionally and excercises and eats well/healthy for the most part. Could her long-term use of Zolpidem have contributed to this liver problem?
Avatar m tn Also are there long term effects of zolpidem? I was instructed in class that zolpidem should only be given for short term around a month. My only other medical issue is mild-moderate tourettes that is managed well.
Avatar f tn I have taken 10 mg Zolpidem (Ambien) for years as it really helps me sleep. But I think it may be causing my tinnitus. The only way to be sure of this is to stop taking it for a time and see if tinnitus goes away. So far, I have not taken any for 11 nights and tinnitus is still the same. - A pretty much constant low-pitched noise. How long would I have to stay off Zolpidem before knowing whether or not it is the culprit?
Avatar n tn Zolpidem (Ambien), Methylphenidate (Concerta), Clonidine, and Strattera. First, I do not believe my son should have ever been diagnosed w/ ADHD, I have done the research and written a paper as well as currently going through a publication on an article with my wife (not my son's mother) who is an assistant professor of counseling mental health.
9485899 tn?1537369589 She you doctor. I took Prescription meds to sleep after treatment for about a month. After that I could sleep just fine. You need good sleep to recover. Really help me.
Avatar f tn Thank you for the support. I am taking all three as directed. But none of them are helping the migraine pain I have. Although I take full responsibility for the path I'm on, I am not thanking my Dr. for his part in this. I quit the norco two weeks ago with out too much (some) withdrawal problems. But it doesn't seem like its enough. Its hard to taper patches.
Avatar f tn What else is there for insomnia? I was on 100mg seroquel for insomnia. I hate the way it makes me feel; but it does work. I am now going back and forth with the pharmacy that dispenses the seroquel; I get mine through the AZandMe free meds program. Of four prescriptions that my doctor has written, the pharmacy has yet to fill even one. The last time I had my seroquel was filled was September of last year.
Avatar m tn I took 10 mg of zolpidem 2 days ago but since then I have a terrible headache what is to be done?
