2032582 tn?1344530876 s quite common to only look at one side of the blood pressure issue; how much blood the heart pumps each beat. Remember, blood pressure is determined by "cardiac output" x "blood vessel resistance". If you can sense the blood flow (pulse in your ears, palpitations, etc) your cardiac output can be high, but your blood pressure isn't necessarily high.
Avatar f tn Are you on any medication for your high blood pressure? What about your kidney function - have you had any kidney function tests done? I ask because I have kidney failure stage 2 and before I was diagnosed doctors would always ask if I was anxious - and I think I was. When I was poorly with my kidney I told them that I was feeling tight in my chest and throat and between my shoulder blades. What i'm saying is that kidney failure causes anxiety.
Avatar f tn I am new to this forum and i would like to ask a question about switching from zoloft to lexapro. I have been on Zoloft for about 10 years and xanax for anxiety/panic disorder. I take 125 mg a day. I also take xanax .50 mg every four hours. I also have nerve impingment in my cervical spine and spondolothesis in my lower spine. I need surgery but I am really scared. My question to you is, I am going through a lot in my life, I am 54 years old.
4927707 tn?1361144882 -) I guess the most important question is; do you usually have a heart rate (and blood pressure) that high, or is it mostly when you're anxious in the doctor's office? I understand perfectly that your doctor wants to put you on a beta blocker - it's the correct medication to take care of a racing heart when you are feeling anxious.
Avatar m tn When I was a child playing football, my blood pressure was always high, like 150 to 170 systolic (can not remember the other numbers). Over the past couple of years my blood pressure has ranged from normal to just slightly higher than normal when I went to the doctor. My wife's blood pressure has always been normal or slightly below normal. Recently, she has been feeling very tired and occasionally faint. Everytime I check her blood pressure now it is around 95/50 or a little lower.
1346429 tn?1303874854 I can no longer take my heart meds for high blood pressure and irregular hb; topomax for migraines; metaphormin; and a few others. Which I quit taking some of my meds before pregnancy because I did a lifestyle change in which it helped enough that I could quit taking the extra meds. As far as C-section...both my boys were early but big because of the diabetes (not gestational) and I could not have them natually so this is another C-section baby.
1394445 tn?1351023345 Hello! As you can imagine, we get this question a good bit. There's no simple answer to your question, mainly because everyone is different, everyone's anxiety is diffierent, everyone's medical history is different, etc. SSRIs, like Zoloft, Prozac, etc are usually the first line treatment when it comes to anxiety meds, because they work (for most people) and they're fairly easily tolerated. You seem to have an aversion to taking them, is there a reason?

Avatar f tn My nurse told me my blood pressure was high and to lay off salty foods which I don't think I eat much of anyway but I'm wondering if there are any symptoms I should be on the lookout for I'm 35 wks today.
Avatar f tn I have had high blood pressure through out most of my pregnancy i am now 35wks. I started swelling really bad last week and at my apt yesterday my blood pressure had jumped even higher to 156/90. My mid wife didn't seem concerned at all she just re took it and made my appointments weekly now. I can't seem to get rid of a head ache ive had for a couple days. Should i be worried???
541196 tn?1293552936 Does anyone take medication for high blood pressure and is pregnant? If so, could you please tell me what you take and how successful it is? My dr. just prescribed me an ACE inhibitor that has a big ole warning about death to fetus. I am not pregnant, but my husband and I have been trying. We put our trying on hold for a few months, but would like to resume soon and we aren't super careful with protection now... leave it to God.
Avatar f tn GP has not done blood testing had many blood rtests in May for the anklyosing spondilities but he is not bothered with that, he is more interested in the blood pressure readings, tody all l do is sleep and throat is so achy
Avatar f tn Bupropion can cause pounding of heart and palpitations. It usually does not cause high blood pressure. If the high blood pressure is drug related, it will come down in 2-3 days. If the high BP persists, please get this investigated, monitored and treated. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar m tn can drinking grape fruit juice effect a person taking high blood pressure medication
11970743 tn?1426036106 Went to the hospital to get checked out for preeclampsia yet again, checked my blood pressure, urine for protein, and had a cuff on my arm that would check my blood pressure every ten mins and everything was just fine. We work ourselves up, I know I definitely do. Your feet can swell up from so many different things. They pretty much told me to just take it easy and stop being on my feet so much. Good luck!
Avatar f tn m taking meds for my high blood pressure. Seems to be working really well every check since it has been 120/70 .
9070037 tn?1414632966 Previously my pregnancy I was taking medication for High blood pressure. It was Chortalidone which is a diuretic. I was taking that before and during the first four weeks of my pregnancy , until My gyn told me not to take it during my pregnancy. I have 15 weeks already, I'm worried if that could had any effect on my baby. Am I supposed to control my high blood pressure during my pregnancy too? Anyone with high blood pressure that can give me an advice please?
Avatar f tn Thabk you so much, it really means a lot! Please try to watch your salt & take really good care of yourself. Its a horrible situation to be in, I hope your pregnancy goes well!
698356 tn?1240150727 As far as living a healthy lifestyle I've got it. I haven't been able to exercise as much as I wanted while I was incredibly fatigued, but I'm picking that back up. The thing is that for nearly a year I've had blood pressure that is all over the place. I think it was 140/105 at the dentist on Thursday. It's got to be secondary in nature. I'm 26, eat incredibly healthy, have good weight and BMI (I'm a size 2 or 4). I can't go on blood pressure meds.
Avatar m tn Welcome and thanks for the question. 210/110 is VERY high. A prescription for Lisinorpil is a good start, but her doctor really needs to be working her up to find an underlying cause and resolving that issue. I could be idiopathic meaning there is no cause, but she should be checked. She should be on the DASH diet and exercising to bring her levels down, with her doctor's approval. Having said that, it could have been high due to anxiety as well.
Avatar f tn When I went for my 30week appointment my blood pressure was high, they kept me in for a few hours to rest and then I could leave after 2hours. I had to go in the next week to check again but then my high blood pressure was fine after that. It wasn't high again, it was just that time.
