Avatar f tn My family physician prescribed 25 mg. Zoloft (sertraline) to be taken at bedtime. The insomnia was horrible, so I switched to taking it in the morning. Insomnia is still pretty bad and I have to take Benadryl to get sleep. I also am yawning excessively and can't honestly say my depression feels like it's lifting. I've been on the sertraline for just about 2 weeks. All I want to do is sit around and do nothing, haven't been socializing with friends, etc.
Avatar f tn mg a day as needed. I've never gone in excess of this. As of two days ago, I was put on Zoloft. On my first day of taking the Zoloft, I took 2.5mg before going into the Doc ( as I was nervous) got the med, took it, and then late in the afternoon, before attempting horse riding ( big step for me as ive been mostly house bound since i came out of hospital 3 weeks ago) I went riding, and suddnely my throat went dry, and I began to panic. I hopped off the horse, and headed home.
Avatar n tn but I am still wondering about the proper dosage. So why the ones that know about this dont post here their experiences. Is it a good dosage for a weight loss program?? 'The usual protocol is to inject 1500-3000 I.U. every 4th or 5th day, for a duration usually no longer than 2 or 3 weeks. If used for too long or at too high a dose, the drug may actually function to desensitize the Leydig's cells to luteinizing hormone, further hindering a return to homeostasis.
Avatar n tn I've been on Zoloft for one year, in which time I've had to up my dosage to 200 mg to get the best results. Previously I was on Paxil for four years, but went off it due to weight gain, and then got depressed again two years later. Now, my Zoloft seems to be not working. I'm definitely feeling like I was when I first got depressed.
Avatar n tn What is the best tapering schedule for Zoloft at this dosage (50mg a day [presently])? What symptoms can I expect as I come off of Zoloft? Hopefully, you can help me minimize the effects. I have not had any mood changes or severe anxiety thus far, but I have had the stomach cramps, low grade fever and muscle aches especially around the neck/shoulder area. Also, I have been craving sweets like mad...Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Zoloft for about 13 years: First to help with depression during menopause and raising a difficult 4 year old and then for full-blown although relatively mild depression. I also was engaged in 8 years of talk therapy, dealing with all of my issues including those contributing to my depression. I stopped several years ago but still step back in when the situation warrants such as my difficult but wonderful child going off to college.
1211508 tn?1343083205 If you feel your dosage isn't working then talk to your doctor, don't change the dosage on your own. If you ever up this on your own they will not allow you to have it again. They're very strict when it comes to anyone playing around with their dosage. Talk to your doctor and let him know if you feel like your current dosage isn't helping. Also, Klonopin is not prescribed on an "as needed" basis, it's to be taken on a regular basis at the same time(s) everyday.

Avatar m tn Dear doctor and fellow forum users, Since January 2009 I have come completely off various SSRI's to deal with my OCD and depression. Since 2005 I have been taking the following medications: Fluoxetine, Seroquel, Benzapine, Zoloft & Geoden among others. As stated since January 2009 I have come off the SSRI's and have experienced some extremely horrid and disgusting withdrawal affects as well as side affects during the period I took them.

Avatar f tn Dr's have tried everything from Lithim, Paxil. Zoloft, Trazadone, Depakote,Lamictal...cocktails upon cocktails...you get the idea. Then my dentist scrips me Trams and all I knew then was I hadn't felt that good ever in my life. I want to say Ive done my share of hard drugs recreationally (past). This was different, the Trams didn't make me high as much as they made me feel good, I had energy, felt good about myself. FF two yrs and now I know I have to stop.

Avatar m tn A question for you goolarra (or anyone else with experience). I'll be at 5 weeks with this increased dosage on Wednesday. Although I'm slightly better, the brain fog/depression is still alive and well. Can I assume that this dosage is not going to do it for me at this point? Or could I still experience some relief this late after an increase? My next TSH, FT3, and FT4 tests are Sept 25, which will be exactly 7 weeks since my last labs.
732519 tn?1232272023 I take Zoloft and I am a teacher. I do need to be creative at my job on a daily basis, and I haven't known it to affect my creativity. Paxil was the first med I was on after being diagnosed about 10 yrs ago. I didn't like it at all. It helped with the depression but made me feel terrible physically and also I gained 25 pounds. (from 108-133). I switched to Zoloft and liked it a lot better, and lost the weight within weeks without even trying.
Avatar n tn Sometimes I feel like I'm really hyper and then then I'm tired. Do you know what causes that? My psychiatrist uped the dosage to 40mg because I wasn't really feeling any reduced anxiety. I feel like my mood is better and my obseesive thoughts are reducing and I'm more energetic. But it has only has reduced a small part of anxiety. I need something more for anxiety. Do you think Serzone would work better since there are no anxiety side effects and is the most sedating?
Avatar n tn i think lamictal would have worked better given a higher dosage. right now i am trying a natural approach with herbal remedies because the natural healer i am seeing says its hormones. but the herbs i have been taking the last two weeks i think are making me worse. the worst ive been in a long time. how close are the two situations and is there a way to fix hormones? i am 30 years old and have my tubes tied. I don't know what else to do.
Avatar n tn I'm almost 58 years old and have been on tenormin (beta blocker) for over ten years for rapid heartbeat. I'm on a low dosage, and the medicine slows my heart rate down to a comfortable beat. However, it hasn't done anything for my pvc's/pac's. I've had all kinds of tests done and thankfully they come back normal. When I worry about my heart, I get MORE pac's...you gotta get your mind on other things -- I speak from experience.
Avatar n tn My reference is based on the US Government Guidelines set forth by U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) Jan 14, 2004. It also depends on which grades of hypothyroidism referring to, which again, depends on and relates to, levels. Avatar f tn I take Vitamins everyday, Mulit, Magnesium, B-Complex, Vitamin B-12 shots every 2 weeks, and Vitamin D caplets (50,000) every two weeks. I have tried Zoloft, Lexapro, Xanax, Ativan, Gabapentin, Klonopin, (spelling, not sure), and others. What ever else the doctors tell me to take. Nothing has given me relief! I have tried Chiropractic care, and that did nothing for me.I have been to 5 neuros, all types of doctors, many test, and lots of blood work! This is all in a six month period!
Avatar n tn I hope others who have had the direct experience will respond, but the general guidelines are it seems to take two to three weeks of gradually coming back to yourself. What you have to be careful of is observing yourself too closely for when you do you tend to interpret the normal fluctuations as symptoms when in fact they are not symptoms, but rapidly changing states of mind that gradually become more integrated and less discrete.
Avatar m tn This happens when I miss pills, and particularly when my dosage goes up. My first dosage when I started taking meds for it was 50mg, and even that small of a dose made me go through a few relationships (because I would start taking it, rage, break up with my partner, give up taking it, eventually find another relationship, try to get my health on track, repeat). I was relieved to know it was my thyroid pills and not me going literally bi polar. I still have trouble with it whenever meds change.
351317 tn?1204755471 It's important to remember that SSRI drugs such as Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Lexapro, Ect.... Do not raise the level of Serotonin in the brain. Rather they work by Inhibiting the reuptake of Serotonin that already exists in the brain, Thus resulting in a slightly higher build up of Serotonin to remain in stasis between the billions of receptors in the brain.
Avatar f tn Quick to pull out the prescription pad to prescribe Zoloft of course but refusing to dig deeper to find what might be causing the anxiety. I lost my mom, my dad, an aunt, and a niece all in one year, so of course I understand that there is grief to deal with and anxiety to overcome when trying to settle the estate, but why are doctors so quick to ascribe everything to being a head case, and why is it so offensive to them that we want to do research to figure out why we feel so crappy?
7469840 tn?1409849436 Still on the reduced Ribavirin dose of 600 mg, but that is because my hemoglobin was below 10 for 2 weeks, and is now hovering right around 10, so the dosage is right within the guidelines for that situation. Doc may raise it again to 800 mg depending on next labs. @Faithdove, hope your husband is improving as time is going by also.
Avatar n tn A Japanese study found that 5-HTP was as effective for depression as Zoloft. It's an amino acid related to the L-Trytophan that's activated when you warm milk. But 5-HTP is many times more potent. You can take 100mg of 5-HTP 3 or four times a day while you detox. Standard dosing for depression is 100mgs 3 times a day. People usually start with 50mg and switch to 100mg once they're not experiencing much drowsiness. For your purposes, you need the extra sedation of 100mg doses.
Avatar n tn yea i was on .5 mg three times a day of regular xanax. the doctor is thinking about giving me XR if he gives me .5 of XR is that the equivilant of .5 three times a day. or is it only .5 mg spread out among a long time, being less effective?
Avatar m tn Is there a fish oil available that is easy for a child to consume and are there guidelines for dosage on a child? I, too, have heard of this from a friend who is extremely knowledgeable about alternative and homeopathic medicine. Any info is appreciated.
Avatar n tn atenolol. I am sensitive and find medications scary and why not when it is the heart and nervous system which reacts. Did your EP explain that the beta will lower your heart rhythm ? Do you only feel the pvc's when at rest or when exercising as well ?
