Zoloft and heart palpitations

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft and heart palpitations

zoloft

Avatar m tn I have high anxiety from the fear of what my heart did while I was on zoloft. I have also had a stress echo done and a 2 d echo. The stress echo was normal, but I won't know the results of my 2 d echo until tomorrow. The 2 d echo was ordered after my doctor heard a murmur. He said that he wasn't at all.concerned about it and that it sounded like a physicological murmur. He is a cardiologist.
Avatar n tn First of all, do you take any other depression drugs, or mood disorder drugs such as SNRIs and SSRI ? If mixed with these, Zoloft can cause serotonin syndrome. This includes fever, sweating, muscle stiffness, trouble thinking clearly, a change in mental functioning, sleepiness, or change in your breathing, heartbeat and blood pressure disorder. If this is the case, you should stop taking Zoloft and speak to your Doctor.

Avatar f tn On the third day I was worried about it and then I felt my heart palpitate, twice, and I was left wondering and scared that maybe my potassium dropped again. When I had my follow up all of my levels were good. Is it anxiety or is my potassium dropping low?? I also really miss my coffee, but I'm afraid that it might set off an attack. I can't stand the dizzy, nauseous, tight chest feeling, and extremely tired feeling.

Avatar f tn After spending a year with severe general anxiety (constant shaking, heart palpitations, inability to concentrate, unable to enjoy life and general miserableness), I started therapy and (reluctantly at first) Zoloft. I've now been on Zoloft for a year (100mg) and doing group therapy for about the same amount of time. The difference this year has made has been huge!

Avatar m tn My primary care doctor prescribed some 50mg strength once daily Zoloft, and wants to see me in another month. Anyone know if they get better results with this med taking it in the evening before bed, or in the morning? all of my arrythmias have been tested and appear benign.
Avatar m tn m having heart palpitations , PVCs it happens when I bend over or squat down it is the worst feelings and so scary. I have had all the tests done including the nuclear stress test and everything is always perfect it is so frustrating but I think this is from stress. Xanax really works great but you never want to take it too long and get dependent on it. I am making Lifestyle Changes stopping the caffeine exercising daily.
Avatar m tn i have had panic and pvcs for years and ive been on zoloft (for 10 years and it eventually stopped working) prozac, wellbutrin and lexapro.unfortunately, one of the side effects of lexapro is palpitations and in my case it made them worse.i'm muddling through now on no antidepressants, just some ativan as needed for anxiety. i hope lexapro works for you better than it did for me. and if it doesnt, there are tons of other ssris to try!good luck!
Avatar f tn Thank you so much ! I'll maybe copy this message and see if there's a forum here about panic attack etc. For the dysautonomia, I think the best doctor is the electrophysiologist to confirm that (i think ?), she know what it is, I talked with her for the tilt table test but she said that they don't do this test alot anymore because they had problems with some people where the heart completely stop :S Is there any others tests to diagnose dysautonomia ?
780665 tn?1239026549 its purpose) but does it help with palpitations, both categories of it - quickened heart rate and ectopic beats which my doctor diagnosed as being benign and down to anxiety? anyone take anxiety medication and found that it helped to reduce or eliminate these?
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm 38 years old, not depressed, always upbeat, happy and motivated. However, I suffer from anxiety, I get nervous in crowds, dizzy in stores, rarely get a panic attack, etc... Ok, that's to give you the picture. One thing I had progressively develop over the last 3 years is palpitations, that's skipped heart beats, they seem to come in cycle, sometimes 0, sometimes 20-30 a days (recently) and that freaks me out the most.
Avatar f tn I panicked and woke my husband and told him I was having trouble breathing and he called 911 and I was taken to the hospital. My heart beat came down with the help of Ativan, I cannot believe that I had such a panic attack. I contacted my doctor upon discharge and she told me to continue the medication. Since I started it I feel like my heart has not beat regularly.
Avatar f tn m pretty healthy but I do have anxiety/stress issues and started taking Zoloft 50mg 2 weeks ago. Over the past month, my heart has seemed erratic! My resting pulse is around 55-65bpm, but minimal activity such as walking or cleaning seems to push it to 100bpm. My blood pressure seems to be rising too, I think my average I've taken over the past few weeks clocks in around 130/80. Also, I had 2 EKGs done and 48 hour holter and nothing was found but a few ectopic beats.
652671 tn?1353712165 She told me that she thought maybe i had anxiety so i started a prescription of Zoloft. I had a terrible reaction to it and quit cold turkey after 3 weeks. it made my heart palpitations happen so frequently i thought i was going to die. after i quit i had panic attacks for the first time in my life. that was almost a month ago. I have had my heart checked with echo, ekg, holter monitor, and blood work. the doc says my heart is fine but my chest still hurts everyday.
11316387 tn?1584640715 Anyway, I have no idea what to do but I have been woken up with these palpitations and every time it makes me feel like my heart is going to give out. I do not know what to do and quite frankly I'm afraid to go to bed. Please help me. Thanks.
Avatar m tn I have been tested like crazy.. Everything from a heart cath to blood work. Multiple CT scans and xrays. I am told that they can find nothing, but I am miserable all the time. I feel a constant pressure and discomfort in my sternum. It goes all the way up to my sinus. The sternum is by far the worst pain. Eating does not affect it at all. Moving a certain way or stretching sometimes does. I have fluttering in my sternum. Heart palpitations. I assume, but have been told they are not an issue.
Avatar m tn chest/upper abdominal pain, heart palpitations, cold/tingling hands and feet and face, trembling, muscle twitches, burping, gastro issues, impaired concentration, tinnitus and anxiety...sound familiar? Now I've started thinking I have ALS or MS or cancer or something, but my doctor suggested that I might have Chronic Hyperventilation Syndrome. When I started reading up on it I could not believe that I found something that matched my symptoms.
Avatar f tn This is my first post on this forum. Was diagnosed with hep c 3a in April 2010. I am also HIV+. I am in week 11 of tx with Pegintron and Ribavirin. I had an RVR at week 3 and still undetectable at week 8. Just had blood drawn again on Tuesday so waiting for latest lab results. I am experiencing a number of the side effects -- fatigue, irritability, depression, hair thinning, insomnia, etc. I am managing these the best I can.
503607 tn?1275671579 No medications (apart from arrhythmics which can have serious arrhythmic consequences) are likely to stop the palpitations, and you need to have the EP study and the ablation. Depending on what they find, the procedure is likely to be 90-100% successful for life. Not many other procedures have this kind of life long success.
Avatar f tn my problem is that i cant fall asleep because of palpitations... my heart keep beating whenever i try to sleep and get some rest. I feel afraid of exams and of fail. i tried beta-blockers but they make me feel numbness in my extremities ... my blood pressure without any medications is 110/70... so, should i continue on beta-blockers or it is better to try an SSRI "escitalopram"?

Avatar f tn Just recently I started getting heart palpitations (pounding) in my chest that got worse followed by chest and back pain, headache and pressure in head and neck. Fearing the worst I went to ER. Blood tests, EKG, thyroid, stress echo, CT with contrast, Holter all normal. Given Pepcid for heartburn and Xanax. Followed up with my gp who suggested Zoloft for anxiety. Symptoms got better. Two days later tried to walk on the treadmill. I lasted 4 minutes before the symptoms returned.
