Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Case reports have described two women who have received ondansetron during pregnancy for life-threatening hyperemesis gravidarum. No abnormalities were noted in the offspring of these two women. Ondansetron is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
That is the one that is safe for pregnancy. You can do off brand too as long as it is that. The unisom is a category A and benedryl is a category b. Both considered safe but A is safest and down to D is unsafe. Zofran is also a category b and phenegren which I have had too is a category c. So i quit taking it unless I really can't stop throwing up.
If it's possible to go to the doctor before your trip, I suggest maybe getting some Zofran. It's safe to take during pregnancy and is like a miracle pill.

Well they say MOST women began to feel better around the beginning of the second trimester, hopefully you fall into that category of women. Ask your doctor about prescribing you Zofran. It's a anti nausea medicine that works wonders. Also don't let your belly become empty. It only makes it worse. I could only keep down cold fruit & smoothies forever.
I an definitely in the same boat as you! I'm nine weeks, have been throwing up since four weeks. This past week it got soooo bad I was admitted to the hospital twice for fluids and meds! I'm stable now and baby is fine, thank God, but I am now on Zofran and Phenergan. I was very concerned about the Phenergan because it's a pregnancy category c drug, but my Dr. has eased my worries slightly by saying it's not their first choice, but they do prescribe it all the time...
I used diclegis in very early pregnacy it Category A and did wonders my sickness went away around 12 weeks. If u cant keep anything down even fluids than you need something to relieve the sickness your doc wouldn't prescribe something they didn't feel was okay.
I would highly recommend Zofran. It is used for nausea and it works WONDERS! They have other drugs likes Phenergan and Compozine, but the side effects are long and AWFUL (I know because I have taken both). I just looked at the med fact on Zofran and while it doesn't say much about breastfeeding while taking Zofran, there aren't any known problems with taking it during pregnancy.
Is zofran safe to rake during pregnancy? I've read some stories and some say it's not and can cause heart defects is this true?
It is perfectly fine to take while pregnant I took it threw out my first pregnancy and I'm currently taking it now threw my second pregnancy :)
This is my second pregnancy , my first was so awful I wasn't keeping anything down not even meds and I lost 20lbs the first trimester from my MS. I'm hoping this one goes smoothly . I'm only 4 weeks along but I'm. Starting to get nasousous and feeling like I'm about to throw up at all times so my dr . Put me on Zofran (which she did the first pregnancy put I couldn't keep it down so I barely took it) did you guys ever take it ? Does it really work .
There's been mixed feelings on zofran I don't think there's an absolute warning against the Zofran but lawyers have been trying to push the idea. Iknow people who have taken it without any issues. It's such a low dose the doctors prescribe that it probably won't do any harm to the baby (as I was told by several doctors). Promethazine is actually in the same category as the Zofran as well (something I didn't know).
