Zocor high blood pressure

Common Questions and Answers about Zocor high blood pressure

zocor

Avatar n tn The popping of capillaries could be due to high blood pressure. It could be the side effects of your blood pressure medications. Zocor too could cause this. Other than this it could be due to clotting disorders, low platelet count, fragile spider veins, deep vein thrombus, deficiency of Vitamin B12, folic acid, or Vit K, a liver disease or certain cancers. It could also be due to pressure urticaria. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar n tn Well, when you worry your blood pressure will go up. It feeds on itself. There's a new study out that showed Niacin can reverse stenosis (blockages). The intake was rather high but it's now clinically proven. A statin, like liptor or zocor can also reverse stenosis. If I were you I'd be thinking about all the ways the blockages can be reversed and attack it from all fronts. Medication, niacin, diet, exercise, lose weight if you have to.
Avatar n tn ve been losing weight without trying my fasting blood glucose is 125-130 random throughout the day is 140 so I had an appointment with the diabetic clinic today I am on 80mg. Zocor because I had high cholestrol the doctor said today that my bad cholestrol is excellent but my good cholestrol is low I don't know how low she put in a request that needs to be approved for 20mg.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 56 year old female who does cardio exercise 5 times weekly, not overweight with no high blood pressure, last cholesterol test results were 226 total/143 LDL/73 HDL/49 Tri that I was told were borderline high, and am a current smoker (20-30 a day). I had a carotid ultrasound done a couple of weeks ago which was recommended because of numbness and tingling in my left arm (having a nerve conduction study and emg for this shortly).
514523 tn?1215832667 m not sure how the Toprol will react with the Diovan, but you may see some overlap and your blood pressure med may need adjusted. Did the doctor discuss the effect of taking both drugs? I looked in a drug reference manual, and it doesn't say you can't take them both, but I understand your concern. As Stella said, your blood pressure problem may resolve itself once you start taking a thyroid med like Methimazole.
Avatar f tn 3 Of the 19342 patients randomized to one of the two antihypertensive regimens 10305 were further randomly assigned atorvastatin 10 mg daily or placebo to form the lipid lowering arm of the study. Mean age of participants was 63 years and baseline blood pressure and lipid subtraction values were identical in the 2 groups. The study was stopped prematurely after median 3.3 years of follow up. Compared with placebo there was a 35% relative reduction of LDL-C in the atorvastatin group.
Avatar n tn Pulse pressure is the difference in blood pressure between the systolic blood pressure and the diastolic blood pressure. Pulse pressure in healthy adults in a sitting position is about 40 mmHg. Your have a wide pulse pressure of 93mmHg.
Avatar f tn My primary care physician told me there is damage and narrowing of the arteries; prescribed Zocor, diet, exercise and blood tests. I am 62-years old, a nonsmoker or drinker. I do take Lamictal/Klonopin for bipolar 2. My mother died of a stroke at age 69 (smoker). My maternal grandmother also had a stroke. I am very concerned.
Avatar n tn Obviously a doctor believes you need it, I'm betting your blood pressure is increasing. Believe me, high blood pressure can lead to some very troublesome problems like an enlarged heart. Why not try it? See if if works for you. If you are completely against trying the drug, ask your doctor to try a drug like hydrochlorothizide, a mild drug that can reduce high blood pressure.
Avatar n tn Your blood pressure needs to be well controlled and you should be on a BETA-BLOCKER with high BP and an aortic aneurysm. Generally amiodarone is only given short term and I would discuss the med changes with the cardiologist.
952934 tn?1248948744 I have been having severe artey pain and pressure after having 8 heart catherzations with replacing one stent 8 times i have had major bleed out in my groin with blood in the belly for three months after. my arteries hurt any where you can get a pulse.
Avatar n tn Well, my Dr. put me on Zocor for high cholesterol 2 mos. ago...I noticed about 3 1/2 weeks ago that there was more hair in my brush...and, it felt thinner. Well, it's getting BAD! I called my Dr. this morning & they're taking me off Zocor which DOES cause hair loss, at least it is one of the side effects. NO guarantee that it will come back either!!! I tell Ya!!! Well, if it get's worse, I have my wigs!!! GOOD LUCK TO YOU & ANYONE else having this problem.
Avatar n tn I have been on Lipitor and simvastatin (Zocor) I have no major health problems, eat a good diet, only a few pounds too many, not enough exercise. What can I do to lower my LDL number?
Avatar n tn My cardiologist wants my blood pressure as low as possible without side effects. Lower blood pressure reduces the workload of the heart and provides time for the heart to completely recover from the operation. If you experience dizziness, fainting, etc., your doctor may want to adjust the medication, but if you can tolerate your current blood presssure the better it is for your heart.
Avatar m tn I have had stents and I also have a ICD implant. My medications are coreg, zocor, plavix and a blood pressure med. In 2005 my EJ was 20 and for the past 2 years it has been in the low 40's. I realize everyone is different but is there any chance I should be doing something else to inc my EJ.
Avatar m tn I gathered your concern is lack of energy, not blood pressure issues. If your pressure was less than 100/60 then you had hypotension. I've never had my blood pressure lowered for the ten stents I've had, they are fully capable of handling pressure in the vessels. Beta blockers are well known to cause lack of energy in many people, even a low dosage. There are other ways and more direct ways to lower blood pressure, such as ace inhibitors.
Avatar n tn There is no definite recommendation at this time regarding medication treatment for these levels of abnormal glucose handling, but in many cases where other issues are present(such as high cholesterol, being overweight, family history of diabetes and high blood pressure) some doctors will start a low dose of Metformin. That is something you may consider discussing with your doctor as well. Take care and keep up the excellent work.

Avatar f tn I tried methadone treatment, but assumed the suboxone would benefit me more. I do however take zocor for high cholesterol. No tylenol though. No alcohol either. After hearing this, I am going to start tapering off my soboxone and I pray that is the problem. Hate, to mention but I'm also overweight.(Not obese) I also crave food high in fat.
Avatar n tn Has anyone had problems with statins (in particular Zocor) causing an exacerbation of ocular and nasal allergy symptoms? I started Zocor 6 weeks ago, and after the first week, my eye allergy symptoms (conjunctivitis, scleritis, eyes watering, etc) got much worse. By the end of last week, my eyes were tearing to the point that tears were running down my face most of the day, and my vision was blurring. I had also developed constant sniffles. None of my allergy meds gave any relief.
Avatar n tn There was no bleeding. After speaking to someone nausia has gone away my blood pressure was a bit high so he gave me pills for that same pills will help protect my kidneys i was told. Was also given a low dose of zocor for borderline cholestoral. Thanks for your help.
1833444 tn?1325557062 If you have no prior history of high blood pressure i would think theres a very good chance as these meds do crazy stuff....... I have read here where those with high BP before tx saw it go down while on treatment...... Good luck going forward.
