zocor

Avatar n tn (Cardiologist never told me palpitations are a side effect to the statins) I kept getting palpitations so I went and got a second opinion to a 2nd cardiologist. They did a echo, I wore a heart holster twice and did several EKGS. They found nothing wrong with my heart. This 2nd cardiologist still didn't tell me that the statins would do this to me. So I had to do my own research online and bring it to his attention 6 months ago. I told him that I believe the statins are doing this to me.
Avatar n tn Please be aware that statins cause more than hair loss, and there are much safer alternatives. More important than the hair loss (though I am sure this is a big issue for many) is the fact that statins cause CoQ10 deficiencies that CONTRIBUTE to Heart Failure. I'd rather drop dead of a heart attack than suffer for years with Heart Failure if I had a choice.
Avatar f tn Has anyone read how horrific the side effects really are to some of these statins and realized that either they or their loved ones had these very symtoms and becames seriously ill to the point that they ended up in ICU not knowing who they were, where they were, in so much pain they could not bear to be touched and had regressed to near infancy before anyone figured out that it was zocor or lipitor or another statin they were on that was causing these bizarre illnessess ?
Avatar f tn Vytorin does a remarkable job of reducing your Cholesterol, much better than Zocor (Simvastatin) alone. However, Zetia doesn't seem to add anything to the picture as far as preventing heart disease is concened. But read this about Zocor: -"Zocor Users Not Warned of Risks: The FDA's June 2011 safety alert is the most serious of many warnings regarding Zocor and associated risks of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis. Zocor manufacturer Merck & Co.
Avatar f tn Yes, in my opinion based on similar experience with RCA blockage. I'm assuming they cannot stent the RCA. I'd follow the doctor's advice which I'm betting includes no smoking, heart-healthy diet, moderate aerobic exercise up to the point of breathlessness and drug therapy. I found the addition of the drug Ranexa made a big difference in my ability to exercise aerobically. The size of the collaterals is probably an important component in this discussion.
Avatar m tn Vytorin is a combination, I believe, of Zocor and Zetia. Zocor should help with the cholesterol already there. If not, Lipitor has studies showing that Lipitor at 40mg can help reduce cholesterol on heart valves and in arteries. If it reduces cholesterol there, it may reduce cholesterol on the heart muscle. Cholesterol builds in the arteries, valves and muscle of the heart. In order for cholesterol to stick, there has to be a sticking spot.
Avatar f tn In mid December 2007, I was rushed in again due to a different artery being clogged. Both times the cardiologist blamed it on Zocor 80mg. I was put back on Lipitor 80mg after the October event. They additionally informed me that the arteries were all under 45% clogged after the October intervention, There were hematoma and femoral nerve palsy after the October episode as well, so they went through the wrist in December. Can an artery clog wthin two months?
Avatar f tn Fenofibrates in my experience do have side effects especially if prescribed together with Statins ( Lipitor, Crestor, Zocor are some of the brand name statins). Check drugs.com for drug side effects and interactions.
Avatar f tn I had blood workup 2 weeks ago with my GP and everything was fine except cholesterolwas a little high and she put me on zocor. I have a seizure disorder and take 125 mg Dilantin and my doctor took my synthroid up to 175 mg. For the past few weeks I have been jittery, explosive temper, lightheaded, very foggy and started having horrible palpitations and breathlessness..I am really scared at this point and can't seem to get any answers..I am going to schedule an appointment with a endo.
Avatar n tn When I went to my diabetes appointment last week or a couple of weeks ago I was told that my bad cholestrol was perfect and my good cholestrol was low so the doctor suggested for me to take Fish Oil Omega 3 I used to take 80mg.
Avatar m tn Sometimes there is heart muscle damage that permanently limits heart wall movement from a prior heart attack, and stem cell implants, if appropriate and available, could improve heart wall movement and an increase in EF.
Avatar n tn For two years I took Zocor for the purpose of lowering my Cholesterol. When I complained to my doctor about my body aching all over she suggested I discontinue using the Zocor for several weeks. As time passed I realized a lessening of body aches so I decided not to go back on the Zocor. It has now been 5 months since I have taken Zocor. Meanwhile, I have been losing weight (about 5 pounds) without changing my diet. I realized that my pants were baggy in the thighs and seat.
Avatar n tn High cholesterol runs in my family so even with diet and exercise my numbers are still a little high. I started getting heart palpitations a few years ago and after a lot of testing was told they were harmless PVC's/PAC's. Well, I stoped taking my Tricor and Zocor for a few months and my heart palps were gone. The problem is that my cholesterol numbers went back up. I started back on the statins and low and behold the palps returned.
Avatar f tn I've had heart palpitations for 10 months, they started right after a hiatus hernia operation. I get them everyday. I get them at different times, while watching tv or just relaxing in bed, doing normal everyday things. I had blood work done and was told I was low on B12 and was told to take 1000 mcg of a supplement daily. While taking it the palpitations got stronger so I stopped taking it and they eased up.
Avatar n tn a day before the surgery along with Zocor to control cholesterol. I am now on Plavix, Toprol XL, Zocor and Benicar. My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP. Also, I have been feeling very down and blue a lot of the time.
Avatar n tn In an effort to increase my HDL, I take Niaspan & Zocor.....Recently my MD upped the Zocor from 5mgl. to 10mgl.... Last couple weeks, have had more trouble sleeping, usually waking up after a dream (not nightmares, but somewhat vivid dreams)...I've checked out few sites, & saw that statins can cause sleep problems....Have others here had sleep problems while taking a statin?........
428155 tn?1203688894 My doctor wants me to start Simvastatin - Zocor - to lower my cholesterol. I have very high blood pressure. After reading all the side-effects of statins, I am afraid to start using this drug. All the forums I have read about this are filled with people warning others away from statins because of the terrible side effects. I cannot find any forums where people actually say they were helped by statin drugs and did not have bad side-effects. Can anybody help?
Avatar m tn I started noticing heart palpitations when I graduated college. It seems like my palpitations are getting worse and have now flat lined. So I do not sense that the palpitations are getting worse. I visited my doctors about them and they put me on a holter monitor and they didn't have a solution for my heart palpitations. So they decided to put me on beta blocker (Lowest Dose- Half of 25MG), which has helped a lot with my heart palpitations. I can now exercise without any palpitations.
Avatar n tn I'm a 64 yr old female who just got a heart stent in my AUD 5 weeks ago. I'm was giving Plavix and Crestro, . Im. so weak and tired all the time no energy at all. I ask the doctor to change the satin crestro which I just found out it suppose to be the best satin. I thought it was that which was causing my tiredness. so I beg Dr. to ..change it to Zocor but I'm still feeling the same... the only thing different is fewer muscle aches.
Avatar n tn Has anyone had problems with statins (in particular Zocor) causing an exacerbation of ocular and nasal allergy symptoms? I started Zocor 6 weeks ago, and after the first week, my eye allergy symptoms (conjunctivitis, scleritis, eyes watering, etc) got much worse. By the end of last week, my eyes were tearing to the point that tears were running down my face most of the day, and my vision was blurring. I had also developed constant sniffles. None of my allergy meds gave any relief.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a 27 year old female, who just recently started having heart palpitations. I've had EKG's and an echo cardiogram, but my cardiologist says it's stress induced. She also told me to avoid caffeine and alcohol, get lots of sleep and drink lots of water. I've been pretty good about all of those things, trying to reduce stress in my life, but I've felt palpitations everyday for the past 3 and a half months, since the day they started.
Avatar f tn Heart palpitations are common in pregnancy because of your increased blood volume. It also can be related to amemia..anxiety. .etc.I hope you feel better.
Avatar m tn I have what seem to be very strange heart palpitations, a "normal" palpitation would be just a sudden "skipped" beat feeling but for me, sometimes not always, i have what feels like a skipped beat and then my heart rhythm feels "off" or if its fluttering for sometimes up to 5-10 minutes then my heart thumps and everything goes back to normal.
Avatar f tn Tell your doctor and you all can decide if you need to see a specialist. I was having the same problem and my doctor told me absolutely no more caffeine and that has helps tramedously. I rarely have problems now.
