Avatar n tn The popping of capillaries could be due to high blood pressure. It could be the side effects of your blood pressure medications. Zocor too could cause this. Other than this it could be due to clotting disorders, low platelet count, fragile spider veins, deep vein thrombus, deficiency of Vitamin B12, folic acid, or Vit K, a liver disease or certain cancers. It could also be due to pressure urticaria. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar n tn When I went to my diabetes appointment last week or a couple of weeks ago I was told that my bad cholestrol was perfect and my good cholestrol was low so the doctor suggested for me to take Fish Oil Omega 3 I used to take 80mg.
Avatar f tn Has anyone read how horrific the side effects really are to some of these statins and realized that either they or their loved ones had these very symtoms and becames seriously ill to the point that they ended up in ICU not knowing who they were, where they were, in so much pain they could not bear to be touched and had regressed to near infancy before anyone figured out that it was zocor or lipitor or another statin they were on that was causing these bizarre illnessess ?
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 56 year old female who does cardio exercise 5 times weekly, not overweight with no high blood pressure, last cholesterol test results were 226 total/143 LDL/73 HDL/49 Tri that I was told were borderline high, and am a current smoker (20-30 a day). I had a carotid ultrasound done a couple of weeks ago which was recommended because of numbness and tingling in my left arm (having a nerve conduction study and emg for this shortly).
Avatar f tn Vytorin does a remarkable job of reducing your Cholesterol, much better than Zocor (Simvastatin) alone. However, Zetia doesn't seem to add anything to the picture as far as preventing heart disease is concened. But read this about Zocor: -"Zocor Users Not Warned of Risks: The FDA's June 2011 safety alert is the most serious of many warnings regarding Zocor and associated risks of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis. Zocor manufacturer Merck & Co.
Avatar m tn Vytorin is a combination, I believe, of Zocor and Zetia. Zocor should help with the cholesterol already there. If not, Lipitor has studies showing that Lipitor at 40mg can help reduce cholesterol on heart valves and in arteries. If it reduces cholesterol there, it may reduce cholesterol on the heart muscle. Cholesterol builds in the arteries, valves and muscle of the heart. In order for cholesterol to stick, there has to be a sticking spot.
Avatar n tn Well, my Dr. put me on Zocor for high cholesterol 2 mos. ago...I noticed about 3 1/2 weeks ago that there was more hair in my brush...and, it felt thinner. Well, it's getting BAD! I called my Dr. this morning & they're taking me off Zocor which DOES cause hair loss, at least it is one of the side effects. NO guarantee that it will come back either!!! I tell Ya!!! Well, if it get's worse, I have my wigs!!! GOOD LUCK TO YOU & ANYONE else having this problem.
Avatar f tn My primary care physician told me there is damage and narrowing of the arteries; prescribed Zocor, diet, exercise and blood tests. I am 62-years old, a nonsmoker or drinker. I do take Lamictal/Klonopin for bipolar 2. My mother died of a stroke at age 69 (smoker). My maternal grandmother also had a stroke. I am very concerned.
Avatar m tn Another good thing to take for the thyroid is Iodoral Iodine, however, it is a good idea to have the doc order the Iodine Loading Test for you and then test you for iodine levels. You can also add kelp, this is natural iodine and good for the thyroid, whether it be high or low. L-Tyrosine, an amino acid is good for thyroid support too. Why are you are Zocor, this is for high cholesterol.
Avatar n tn 1) if there are any medications my father could be taking to help improve his memory, and 2) whether his current combination of medication may be affecting his memory. He is currently on zocor (20ml/day) for cholesterol, methotrixate and folic acid for psoriasis, and takes a 81 mg aspirin per day to help thin his blood. He had a pacemaker installed in 1993 (updated in 2002). Any thoughts or suggestions as to what we might explore with the doctors would be helpful. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Diagnosed with DCIS in July. Had lumpectomy in August with clear margins from 1 cm to 5 cm and sentinel lymph nodes negative. In fact, pathology report said no residual DCIS found, only LCIS. Started radiation this past week. Will see medical oncologist at end of October just before radiation ends. Had prelim visit with med. oncologist and he suggested I take Tamoxifen as the standard of treatment for DCIS. Also, my DCIS was strongly ER+ and moderately PR+.
Avatar n tn For two years I took Zocor for the purpose of lowering my Cholesterol. When I complained to my doctor about my body aching all over she suggested I discontinue using the Zocor for several weeks. As time passed I realized a lessening of body aches so I decided not to go back on the Zocor. It has now been 5 months since I have taken Zocor. Meanwhile, I have been losing weight (about 5 pounds) without changing my diet. I realized that my pants were baggy in the thighs and seat.
Avatar n tn In an effort to increase my HDL, I take Niaspan & Zocor.....Recently my MD upped the Zocor from 5mgl. to 10mgl.... Last couple weeks, have had more trouble sleeping, usually waking up after a dream (not nightmares, but somewhat vivid dreams)...I've checked out few sites, & saw that statins can cause sleep problems....Have others here had sleep problems while taking a statin?........
Avatar n tn Has anyone had problems with statins (in particular Zocor) causing an exacerbation of ocular and nasal allergy symptoms? I started Zocor 6 weeks ago, and after the first week, my eye allergy symptoms (conjunctivitis, scleritis, eyes watering, etc) got much worse. By the end of last week, my eyes were tearing to the point that tears were running down my face most of the day, and my vision was blurring. I had also developed constant sniffles. None of my allergy meds gave any relief.
Avatar n tn I currently take 150mg of Zocor per day. Recently i have developed a cough, which I can deal with but when I cough I get pain shooting though my head. It takes a few minutes to go away and then things are find. Should I be worried.
428155 tn?1203688894 Well here is an update; after a few months I have found the culprit: it was simvastatin (called "Lipex" in New Zealand), which my GP had prescribed me 2 years beforehand to control my cholesterol level. I stopped simvastatin and all fibrillations have disappeared. As I was taking simvastatin, I was in fibrillation 17% of the time; 1 month after I stopped simvastatin, the level was down to 0%.
Avatar f tn ok my mom is 63,blind from methol alchohl poisoning and has bazil ganglia rigidity(parkinsons-like) and she is on baclofen, lisinipril, amlodipine, sinemet, and metoprolol succ and she was on zocor. she went into the hospital on dec.29th with stiffness and unable to move. she had a hedache and her head was spinning. the hospital said it was a med reaction and that her UTI was causing her medicines not to work. they treated the UTI and after five days sent her home.
Avatar f tn //cholesterol.emedtv.com/zocor/zocor-and-liver-problems.html _________________________________________________________ It may be the combination of meds...(Zocor&Suboxone)...I couldn't find any info on effexor xr and elevated liver enzymes. Hope you get it figured out.
Avatar f tn In mid December 2007, I was rushed in again due to a different artery being clogged. Both times the cardiologist blamed it on Zocor 80mg. I was put back on Lipitor 80mg after the October event. They additionally informed me that the arteries were all under 45% clogged after the October intervention, There were hematoma and femoral nerve palsy after the October episode as well, so they went through the wrist in December. Can an artery clog wthin two months?
514523 tn?1215832667 8 I have high bloodpressure and have been on Diovan for 2 months . But My Dr. is giving me Toprol and Zocor too while I wait to see the ENDO . I am kinda scared to take all these meds along with what the Endo is gonna give me. Anyone with hyperthyroidism taking any of these meds and do they have bad side effects?
Avatar m tn 45 a.m., I checked my blood sugar and blood pressure. Both were around 180. A few days later, both returned to normal. Though I did not have any unusual bowel problems during these episodes, I had begun having very bad diarrhea 24/7, and at times, explosive diarrhea that came on without much warning. My doctor told me to stop taking Vytorin for two weeks, then get back on. I went to a new family doctor about my "episodes" and told him of the diarrhea.
Avatar n tn Well, when you worry your blood pressure will go up. It feeds on itself. There's a new study out that showed Niacin can reverse stenosis (blockages). The intake was rather high but it's now clinically proven. A statin, like liptor or zocor can also reverse stenosis. If I were you I'd be thinking about all the ways the blockages can be reversed and attack it from all fronts. Medication, niacin, diet, exercise, lose weight if you have to.
Avatar m tn Fresh blood/bright red blood is usually due to a hemorrhoid or some kind of little tear in the rectal area. Perhaps he needs a stool softener to ease things along. Not sure if the Plavix or baby aspirin is making him a bit more prone to bruising and bleeding.
Avatar m tn Conscious of eating less than 1500 calories per day/ 35-50 carbs. Can not lose weight. I take metformin, zocor, toprol, lotrel ( minimal dosage ) What can I do ? Maximum effort - no results.
Avatar n tn I feel no ill effects whatsoever from either drug, and will continue to take both, although I do get a biannual blood test to monitor. On the negative side, I feel the statin was largely responsible for my Type II status. Again, my physician feels the positives far outweigh the Type II.
